  1. This is completely off topic but I just this was an eye popping stat. The Patriots went 27-5 over the last 2 seasons, and only made the playoffs in one of the two seasons. That's crazy, and probably the best possible record anyone will ever have any only make the playoffs 50% of the time.
  2. They were getting inside more later in the game, but yeah this is a perimeter based team for sure...I'll take the win. Starting 0-2 would have invoked a "here we go again" feeling among Michigan fans. Illinois didn't have their best game but they continue to impress me with their team play, hustle, and passing. I bet most Illini fans would have taken 1-1 with 2 road games against ranked teams to start the Big 10 schedule.
  3. let's sign him to a $5.5m deal so we can say we replaced dero with two lesser players who combine to make as much as him
  4. if this is supposedly a detractor for Bradley. I have some words for you. You are doing it wrong. How about his .297/.395/.622 against the NL last year?
  5. Random question: how much do you think it would cost to lure Jaramillo away? I'd probably rather have him that Bradley lol
  6. Yeah but you followed the Cubs all of last year so you know DeRosa made a change to his swing. How do you know Miles didn't change anything? I bet Indians fans are wondering if DeRosa's season was a fluke last year too because they didn't hear anything about a step being added to his swing.
  7. Yeah I'd imagine this would definitely end the Peavy sweepstakes.
  8. I just don't get why Minnesota is still not sold out yet. I've always thought their fans were good, but this is mind boggling. I know that Minnesota in general doesn't have as many people, and I believe their local economy is not as strong as Chicago's, and they have less corporate possibilities (although they do have Target, 3M, etc), but I can't believe they can't find another 3,000 people to spend $80-160 on tickets. In Chicago, people would die to only pay $160 for a home playoff game. Maybe I've underestimated the state of Minnesota's economy or perhaps I've underestimated the avidness of their fans.
  9. That's what she said.
  10. But all he needs is consistant time on the ice!
  11. Yeah we're not better than the Red Wings. I still think we are a top 4 team in the west, but there is no way we are better than the Wings and that sucks.
  12. I just got around to checking this out. This is a fantastic resource. Should be awesome to use during the season.
  13. Someone should tell the NHL that calling all these ticky tack penalties that stop play and make the game really drawn out is not a good way to entice casual fans. I'm not saying they should overlook obvious penalties but let them play a little bit.
  14. I'm in! I got on early this time! I expect my start to be in April 2010
  15. It was pretty awesome to see those jets fly by and then to look out my window and see them buzz right over my place.
  16. We all said the Cubs free spending ways would come back to bite us, and it has big time this offseason.
  17. Just because the deal is alive, it doesn't mean that its going to happen or that this move had any bering on a Peavy trade.
  18. From the ESPN.com article about the DeRosa/Miles moves: So in terms of next year's team, we just traded DeRosa and Marquis for Bradley and Miles
  19. ya think. Yeah its just too bad that parts a and b are disasterous without part c.
  20. David Kaplan just reported the Cubs are very close to a deal for Bradley on CSN.
  21. Sweet, but seriously keep DeRosa unless you have a decent backup. Actually we might get some really good value for Dero. We all rip JH for not trading when their value is the highest, and if you can get some good prospects for him, thats a really high value for a 34 year old utility man.
  22. Again for future reference, what is a successful season? There are varying degrees, but I can't call non-playoff seasons a success. For some teams it's improvement, but not success. Was the Pats 11-5 non-playoff season a success or is that an extremely unique scenario?
  23. I want to get mad that Philly beat Dallas to go with Oakland beating Tampa Bay, but its really hard to say weather Philly would have come out with any fire if they knew before the game that they were done
  24. The running backs aren't bad. The defensive line is probably straddling the line between the top half and the bottom half. A good defensive draft and this team wins 11+ games next year. Forte is very good. Peterson isn't what I really have in mind as his primary backup. The Bears should do better there. The defensive line cannot generate a pass rush to save its life. It showed it can defend the run well but was inconsistent at that as well. I think we should go pass rusher or wide receiver in the first round of the draft. They need a change of pace back to backup Forte. Peterson is like an 80% version of Forte. But that's fine, this year was about finding a RB. Now we have one, go out and get a physical back that can pickup those tough yards
  25. The running backs aren't bad. The defensive line is probably straddling the line between the top half and the bottom half. A good defensive draft and this team wins 11+ games next year. The defensive line is night and day between pass rush and rush d. The rush d is fine, the pass rush is laughably pathetic considering we are paying big money to Ogunleye and Harris and pretty good money to Alex Brown too.
