  1. And the Cubs finally catch up to the mighty Pirates in the standings and pull into a first place tie!
  2. Dude if he can jump over a car, he can definitely catch a fly ball with one hand. I'm totally never going to get sick of hearing that one interesting fact about Joey Gathright.
  3. So much for spring training numbers meaning anything. Marmol looks shaky in ST and today looks pretty sharp. Gregg doesn't give up a run all spring and then gives up a run in his first 1/3 of an inning tonight.
  4. Z is taking back his black guy if that run comes around to score.
  5. Well we always secretly wished in past years that the Cubs played more like the Cardinals.
  6. Multiple times per season around the big leagues. So like 3-5 out of 2430 games in a season... doesn't sound like ALL the time. He didn't even attempt to run... he jogged. I'm not asking him to sprint out everything... but come on. Oh nevermind, he hit a HR earlier so he can be lazy the rest of the game... carry on. jesus christ let it go Sorry I thought game threads were to discuss things going on the game... I must be in the wrong thread. I think people are just sick of calling out players like Aram for their hustle. I mean maybe if he didn't have a .500 SLG% it might be fair game to rip on him. Ideally I'd love for ARam to hustle every grounder out, and I'd love Soriano to not look at his majestic blasts off the OF wall, but I'd rather ARam hit 30+ HRs and drive in 100 RBI's than potentially pull a hammy running out a routine ground ball.
  7. Drag this game out as long as possible Cubs, I don't like what I'm seeing in the NC game. (don't blow the lead though...just have a very drawn out 1-2-3 inning coming up)
  8. What happens tomorrow when Marmol comes in for the 8th and faces the 7-8-9 guys, and Gregg the 1-3 guys? The thing is, everyone has been saying that its great Marmol can be a setup guy to put out fires when he's most needed, but to be honest, 95% of the time, Marmol is going to strictly pitch the 8th and Gregg the 9th.
  9. 13 of the last 14 Cubs hitters have been retired.
  10. Not on team. Backup OFs are Gathright, Reed Johnson and I guess Hoffpauir sorta. I didn't figure he was on the roster now is, I guess I was wondering if he was on the Iowa Cubs roster? (I know I didn't phrase it that way at all) Good question. I know he got sent to AAA, I don't know if he accepted the send down. Someone else could probably answer that better than I.

  12. Yeah its one game. Give him a couple weeks at least. He was swinging the bat decently the last week of Spring. Yea thats not going to happen. If he hasnt done anything by the time the Cubs open up in Wrigley, the boos will be there. And Jesus Bradley about breaks his freaking ankle running to 1st base, wow I don't think the boos matter. He's just gotta get a couple consistent weeks of platoon time for the team to judge whether he's improved on last year. Ideally it would be even more time since the rest of the lineup seems like it will pick up the slack, but I understand Lou is impatient and demands results.
  13. And that's how Bradley is injury prone. Manages to step on first base awkwardly while running out a popup.

  15. Z in some trouble. Oh no, here comes the shaky underbelly of the bullpen.
  16. Opening day is almost always the same day as the NCAA title game. I dont think thats true. Opening day is about a week later than normal this year. It's been true for at least several years. (and I think Opening Day is always first monday in April) I think its the first Monday in April, unless March 31st falls on a Monday.
