He's not going to be fired....he just got an extension and is well respected within the Cubs organization. And the team's injuries will be more than enough of an excuse to keep him employed. You think the first thing the ownership is going to do once it takes over is fire the GM that led the Cubs to the playoffs the last 2 years and pay 2 GMs money?

I honestly think his motive for pitching this year was to get MLB pension for 10 years of MLB service time. I don't fault the guy for doing it, but at least now he'll get it, as the Cubs will likely put him on the DL until that happens.
