Because he couldn't catch a blooper with his back to home plate in a swirling wind, he can't play defense anymore? But yeah I believe the numbers say that he isn't the same defensive 1B as he was earlier in his career. Also, am I the only one that still isn't willing to trash on Derrick Lee and feels somewhat confident he'll at least be a decent contributor this year? I'm actually more worried about Soto than I am Lee, today's home run aside. No Lee offensively is done Im afraid. His bat is so slow its scary. He just isnt the same player, and part of that may be playing with a herniated disk, but I think hes done. See I remember people commenting on how amazingly slow Edmonds' bat was when we first signed him and he struggled, but then he ended up hitting 20 HRs for us and had a pretty good offensive season. Lee is 33 and while he is old enough to be declining, I don't feel like he's at all old enough to be completely washed up. I would be willing to bet at some point this year he'll have a halfway decent stretch of ball.
