  1. Andres Blanco is still on the team? I had forgotten.
  2. Damn, I had my "Fuld does bad" picture all ready to post. http://jeep.us41.org/sparkplugs/broken.jpg
  3. Wow, Welly couldn't find the zone to save his life, I can't believe Jake swung at the first pitch in his AB. I bet Lou wasn't too thrilled about that.
  4. 37th best player in the National League!
  5. if it makes you feel any better, he had better overall numbers for the Cubs at the break in 2007 than he does right now. Just not as many wins of course.
  6. Yeah they were talking about sending him down to the minors anyways. This just spares them the trouble of sending down their heavily hyped former top prospect.
  7. You musta missed the "Good luck with your arm amputation procedure DLee" thread.
  8. Yeah, my first thought was how weird it was to see an intra-division trade. I don't know if it's that weird when it's 2 established players of comperable value getting traded for one another. It'd be weird if there were stars trading teams, or a firesale trade from one team to another.
  9. Anibal Sanchez Bud Smith Maybe Clay Buchholz Jose Jimenez That's since the late 90s
  10. You mean how bad the Padres hitters are right?
  11. I read an interesting stat today. Last year Harden gave up 39 hits in 71 IP for the Cubs. This year, he's given up 78 hits in 74 innings. Thats almost 40 more hits in 3 more innings. It's mind boggling that he went from unhittable, to extremly hittable. He says he's not injured, but if that is really the case, something has to be done because sending him out there every 5th day isn't helping anybody.
  12. Unfortunately, nope. Perfect game means 27 up, 27 down. Uribe must feel really crappy.
  13. eh, we weren't gonna win the carp game no matter what. We could be ok the rest of the series. yeah this game was their best starter vs. Our worst. I still personally think we will win 1-2 of the remaining 3 games which isn't that bad considering how well the Cardinals have been playing coming in.
  14. He Cardinals just look like the better team today. If you think about it, Pujols is at about the level Bonds was in the early 2000s, but he likely has a better supporting cast than Bonds competing teams had back then. Ok not as good but comperable. It finally makes sense to me that the Cardinals are decent unlike the last couple years. not to sound too much like Lou but what else can I say? We are a talented team that so far has run into a bunch of unfortunate injuries and unlucky down years from key contributors. Fortunately unless we somehow get swept we are still in a decent position to be in the division race going into the second half. That's all you can ask for allthings considered. We know the team is likely talented enough based on the recent past to make a run, so it's up to the players to play like it, the coaches to act like it and the general management to hopefully address any deficiencies.
  15. It seemed like the last few years we somehow found a way to contain Pujols mostly. But this year he is on a different level and is absolutely murdering us. He doesn't get himself out anymore. Either the pitcher makes presise pitches that hit the right spots or pujols puts you on sportscenter.
  16. ESPN1000 just reported the pitching matchup tomorrow as Harden vs. Carp in one of their updates. Who knows?
  17. Lou with his usual "what do you want me to do about it? I'm just the manager" press conference. This is the 3rd or 4th time this season the media an fans seem to think the Cubs are turning the corner and then this happens.
  18. Ambien or watching the Cubs: most effective insomnia treatment available?
  19. I hope it's a reverse platoon with Fontenot. That would be hilarious.
  20. seems like a fluke based on his walks. Then again I said that about wells after his first start.
  21. not if you are in Chicago but not at a tv :(
  22. little known fact: in the vicinity also means the ball can be in the vicinity of the fielders glove. And vacinity means 8 feet or so. Soon they may adapt it so if the pitcher looks toward 2b and pretends to throw it, it will count. Bit only against the Cubs of course.
  23. Cubs offense just doesn't look good tonight. Javy has really got them offbalanced. that's one run in our last 12 innings.
  24. yup. Z should have been out of the inning. Quite annoying since 1 run was all Vazquez needed last time. That said if we get shut out we won't win anyways.
