  1. I would have rather the cards won a blowout then take maybe the only winnable game of the series.
  2. Our best 2 RBI guys hitting 1-2, how novel. It shows how desperate Lou is to getting value out of Bradley because at the beginning of the season he would never have considered a lineup where his 2 best lefty hitters are hitting 1-2 in the order and not another lefty until the 7th spot.
  3. The Pirates announcers said giving up just a single to Pujols is like pitching around him. No really because to give up a single to Pujols, you risk him hitting a double, triple or homer. But you already knew that lol.
  4. Why the hell are the Pirates hitting off of Carp?
  5. I've always wondered if you put together a lineup like that for a full season, how many times would said team get shutout in 162 games. I'd imagine no matter who you put up there your bound to slump together at least a couple of times out of 162 games.
  6. Yea I wasnt sure if UM was being serious or not. yeah I was kidding. I don't thunk Briggs would randomly call someone a swear word in the media.
  7. What does Brad Biggs have against Jason McKie?
  8. He had been pitching well as of late, getting a lot of Ks and allowing a respectable amount of runs. Of course that was in San Diego facing NL teams. I'm not sure Gaudin pitching against the AL East is any better than what Sergio Mitre did.
  9. It seems as if the Cubs had no intention of bringing Ryan up once they saw his velocity sit in the high 80's. I wonder what the heck they expected....he was pitching at the velocity in Toronto, what did they expect to do to bring that velocity up? Maybe they stole some pixie dust from St. Louis and tried it on Ryan as an experiment. Hopefully now they know that the pixie dust only works for the Cardinals, and if its used by someone other then them, the dust is rendered completely useless.
  10. Well I didn't see the entire game, but the 2 ABs I saw he popped up to third base and hit a slow grounder to 1B. Oh and in the field he took his time on a routine ground ball to Tavaras and threw too late causing Tavaras to have an IF hit.
  11. He's given up an ER in 6 of his last 7 appearances and 7 of 10 since he was recalled from Iowa. That's really bad and it's absolutely incredible that he's still on the team and being used semi-regularly. If he's on the team, and he shouldn't, he should only pitch when were up or down by 5 runs or more. He has become David Patton.
  12. a 4th middle infielder with a 2/5 contract Who hates him cause of the money he makes? Cub fans hate him cause he sucks. And also because he is DeRosa's replacement that we spent 2.5 mil/year on when we could have gotten the same production (and have) from people in the org already making rookie salaries. We could have had 2.5 million extra to use on upgrades in season. And the worst part is that it's for 2 years. Who the hell would given a player of his ability and his age a 2 year deal just boggles my mind every single day.
  13. I loved his attitude and work on special teams. I didn't realize he was a FA after that season, which sucked because I found out 10 minutes after I got it. The good news is it was free because my friend worked at the customized jersey shop at Soldier Field and he made me one for free during a Bears game I was at.
  14. Agreed. Without the interceptions Vasher is below avg. He can't even tackle. I made a horrible decision to buy Vash's jersey before the 2006 season. Even if he doesn't get cut, I can't wear that to a Bears game. I guess I'll have to throw it aside with my Ayenbadejo home jersey (bought halfway through his last season with the Bears) and my Ben Gordon Bulls jersey.
  15. Good to see he's showing power down there. I was worried he would struggle with the type of injury he had, making him like April and May Geo. Hopefully he pick up where he left off before his injury and give the team a spark.
  16. Hah, last year did a number on me. I decided that all the anguish I had last season resulted in a 97 win season. Helped me put into perspective that days like today would happen and don't necessarily mean the sky is falling. I am not sure why I remained levelheaded when we played .500 ball through June though.
  17. I don't know, Derwood. You may be right. But to bunt after a leadoff double but to NEVER bunt with a man on 3rd in a 1 run game and 1 out seems a little crazy to me. Tony has mashers in that line-up and has them BUNT? With no outs and a man in scoring position? Just giving a free out for ONE chance at a sac fly. How can you defend this idiocy? So you are anti-bunting (as you should be) but you are pro squeezing? Squeezing is not a 100% proposition. A lot has to go right, and when it backfires you really look stupid burning a runner on 3rd, less than 2 outs situation.
  18. Boy the White Sox sure play good against really good teams. They are on their way to a second straight win over a previously hot Angels team.
  19. Meh it happens. The Cubs have been struggling a bit on offense lately, and they ran into a pitcher they haven't seen before that consistently got ahead of the count and was in control of the game. This is hopefully the low point of the Cubs slump and hopefully they start to hit better, coinciding with Geo's return. I get that, frustrations over losing a game you shouldn't be losing in a tight race. As for the "running into a pitcher they haven't seen before", more the reason to be more patience then they were. Well I think they were patient. The problem was this pitcher was throwing strikes and getting ahead in the count, forcing the Cubs to have to guess while behind in the count vs. a pitcher they've never seen before.

  21. It's gonna be worse than the record with him on the DL of course because his longest DL stint coincided with the best baseball the cubs have played all year
  22. I blame this game on Aaron Miles. Putting his no hit, no patience, no defense stupid %# in the game demoralized the entire team.
  23. BTW, I guess we can shut up about Bud Norris now huh?
  24. Well that sucks, but I'll take winning 5 of the 6 games against Cincinnati over the last 2 weeks. The loss to Florida on Sunday really hurts now, becuase instead of 4-2 on the trip we are 3-3 and need to split with Colorado to have a .500 road trip. That will be tough to do with the offense scuffling and the Rockies playing really good ball. With the Cardinals playing the Pirates this weekend, its imperative to get the offense going this weekend otherwise we might be in big trouble, losing a ton of ground in both the division and wild card races.
  25. Pat Hughes just called the Cubs out about not playing a heads up ballgame today.
