  1. Like it or not people like Pargo and Johnson are going to get too many minutes tonight as a result of our back to back games, and the fact that Noah is out tonight. I don't blame them being out on him. Maybe give Devin Brown another shot instead of Pargo though. Pargo is either on fire or (85% of the time) horrible off shooting. If he's not shooting lights out theres no point in him being out there.
  2. They don't look great tonight. Which is really excusable after going to OT last night. Every team is allowed to have an off game occasionally. And we've beaten Indy 3 times this year already. Still, after tonight is 4 straight home games against +500 teams so it would be nice to come back and win.
  3. Selfish a-hole Wasn't exactly what I was saying. But he needs to learn to make that extra pass sometimes, it seems. EDIT: Like there, 2 on 1 and miller was trailing wide open and deng tried to make the play himself. No I was serious. He's being a selfish a-hole. I've been picking on him for this all season. He has tunnel vision when he's going to the hole and it pisses me off. I've seen teammates throw their hands up in disgust as Deng dribbles into the lane facing an open shooting and blatantly ignores them to try to score over 3 defenders with their hands in his face.

  5. Was that expected? Well, it's not like they haven't won bobsled before. They did it in 1948. I was just interest to see if this was an upset or the USA was at some level of contention. USA and bobsled contention don't seem like they go together.
  6. Was that expected?
  7. Try this: AL East AL Central AL West NL East NL Central NL West Yankees Red Sox Angels Braves Cubs Dodgers Tigers White Sox Rangers Phillies Cardinals Giants Rays Twins Mariners Mets Brewers Diamondbacks Orioles Indians Athletics Marlins Reds Rockies Blue Jays Royals Astros Nationals Pirates Padres Basically he suggests switching the Tigers and Red Sox, and then evening out the AL West and NL Central with the other divisions by moving the Astros to the AL West. It's not a bad plan, but it would depend on whether Houston would be ok with going to the AL. I also think instead it might be a good idea to move the Brewers back to the AL Central, and the Royals to the AL West. I've read before that the Brewers wouldn't be opposed to going back to the AL. Although I think they like our rivalry with the Cubs.
  8. The Trib story makes it seem like he might be out for more than one game, but the words they use are not at all definite.
  9. After finally having somewhat of a Joakim Noah game, Noah has already been ruled out tomorrow night according to the papers.
  10. Who knows, but each city is different. Chicago hasn't tried to get big named FAs, and they are certainly different to sign with than Cleveland or Green Bay.
  11. Just for fun, if anyone was wondering how Salmons and Tyrus are doing with their new teams: Thomas: 12.8 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.4 BPG, 1.2 SPG, 58.1% FG%, 73.7 FT%, 26.8 MPG Salmons: 18.2 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 2.4 APG, 39.4% FG%, 30.4% 3PT%, 84.8 FT%, 35.6 MPG They're not playing horrible, but they're not making the Bulls regret trading them.
  12. Not over yet. Hopefully the last 3:30 is good. I'd love to see this go to OT just to see the Canadian's fans sphincters tighten up.
  13. I'm not going to get my hopes up but thats awesome to hear about the Bears. The question though is why does the franchise care now? They've been known for years as a somewhat cheap organization, not known for shelling out money for FAs, and often questioned about their desire to do everything to win. Their fan base is as rabid as ever, and the economy probably hasn't affected the attendance figures one bit, or at least not enough to decide that there needs to be much more pressure to win now. So what makes them decide that now they want to make bold moves and do whatever to win? Did they just decide enough is enough? The Cutler trade surprised the heck out of me. That just isn't something you ever expect the Bears to do. But this surprises me twice as much. The Bears want to take advantage of the uncapped offseason by opening up their wallets to get the top FAs? That's crazy. Maybe they are looking to sell the team in the near future and are trying to up the value?
  14. LOL, what?
  15. Eh it's not a bad move if good Lopez shows up. The Cardinals got better today most likely. Up for debate how much though.
  16. canada is weird. they looked ridiculously good against russia, but tonight they look kind of "meh" (at least compared to how they've looked in other games in the tournament). i don't really know what to make of them. i mean obviously they're awesome, but how awesome? if they play like they have tonight, USA can definitely beat them again. i thought they'd be running circles around slovakia. i'm really interested in how they come out on sunday. they're going to have a ridiculous amount of pressure on them. not only is there the pressure of winning the gold, but there is going to be extra pressure on them to not lose to the US for the second time in the tournament. can you imagine the heat they'd take if they lost to us TWICE? it would be brutal (and amazing) Eh, I don't think too much pressure is on Canada. They responded really well to their loss which seems to have refocused them (you could argue why they would need that but I digress). They are already guaranteed silver, which would be a big failure, but it's not like they finished 8th. And yes losing to your rivals USA twice in the tournament would be bad, but Team USA has proven throughout the tournament that they are a formidable opponent. It wouldn't be like USA basketball losing to Puerto Rico or something. So yes there is some pressure, but I think their team is very confident in their abilities. They know they can beat USA, and I don't think anyone has a doubt of that despite the loss earlier in the tourney.
  17. with the things the bulls were doing down the stretch, i wouldn't put it past them to foul on a 3 point attempt at the buzzer i've never seen a team do so many things wrong in an overtime period and still win. oh well, good win. i really wish they'd shut down noah though. he was all kinds of gimpy I counted 6 critical errors the Bulls made at the end of regulation and the end of OT, and they still won despite it. 1. Hinrich missing a breakaway layup that would have made it a 5 point lead with 1 minute left. 2. Rose getting trapped and throwing the ball right to Portland for a breakaway that I believe Portland scores on. 3. Miller missing a FT that would have made it a 3 point game with 23 seconds left 4. Noah missing 2 FTs with the Bulls up by 5 and ready to put away the game. 5. Next possession same scenario, Gibson can't catch a pass from Noah that looked like it would end up as a dunk had Gibson caught it cleanly. 6. Noah gets a key rebound with the Bulls up 5 with a minute left in OT and immediately throws the ball to Portland for an easy 2 points. And I'm not even including not boxing out Aldridge well enough after Roys second FT miss allowing him to tip it in. Regardless, it wasn't a pretty finish, but at the same time that they made those critical errors, they also did several good things to get the win over a good team, so it's not all doom and gloom.
  18. Yay, I just had another freakout on RealGM. We won despite ourselves! We had a stretch in OT where everything bad that could happen happened. (Bulls start this with a 5 point lead) -Bulls force miss -Noah misses 2 FTs -Bulls force miss -Bulls throw ball away as Gibson can't handle pass -Bulls force miss -Noah throws ball away under the bucket -Blazers get easy basket (3 point lead) -Bulls turn ball over -Brandon Roy misses 2 FTs -Aldridge tips in second miss. (1 point lead) -Deng misses his first FT. Then from there everything went right. Deng misses 2nd FT and then Roy misses a 3, the Bulls rebound and dish it out to Deng breaking away...and you know the rest.
  19. I just turned into the Canada game expecting them to be up 3-0, but amazingly it's still scoreless.
  20. So I left when the Bulls were up 11 and came back to see them down 10, but are still shooting 55% for the game. What happened?
  21. Haha, strange to suggest that it's not fair to have the Yankees and Red Sox in the same division when the Rays just won the division a year ago. It's tough to rationalize how much effect the Yankees and Red Sox have had on other teams, but I'm sure one of those 85+ win Blue Jays teams of the mid 00's could have stolen a division title or two if they were in the AL Central, and maybe last year's Rays team could have competed better in the Central had they not had to play the Red Sox and Yankees 19 times each last year. So part of it is the other 3 AL East teams being penalized by having two $175m+ juggernauts in their division, part of it is rewarding teams like the Twins who won multiple division titles in the last decade playing in what's mostly been a mediocre division. I don't think they can realign, and if they do, will they do it again in 10 years if the Giants and Dodgers find a way to maximize their revenues and have a Yankees/Red Sox west?
  22. not really Yes, it is. Unless it is a coach that coached you, or your kid, it's incredibly weird. not at all. following a coach because of their philosophy isn't weird at all. I'd say the likes of Phil Jackson, Belichek, and the like are good reasons to be fans of the teams they coach that doesn't mean Tim isn't weird. Yeah completely normal. How do you think I got to be a Michigan State/LSU/Miami Dolphins/Alabama fan?
  23. If the USA finishes this off, a Blackhawk will be assured of a gold medal. and at least 3 Hawks will come home as medal winners. And of course all 6 Hawks are still alive for medals.
  24. They keep shooting at the first look at the net. Work the ice a little. (horrible analogy to swinging at the first pitch and working the count)
  25. That's 100 straight minutes of shutout hockey played by Team USA and Miller. Plus the last 3 minutes of the game against Canada when they scored last.
