  1. It's nice so see another team get punished for a turnover in their zone! 2-0!
  2. I think the Wings have slightly outplayed the Hawks so far, but it's not a drastic difference in play. Obviously the Hawks hold the advantage in the score, but the Wings have done a good job of controlling the puck, and getting a body on shots and passes when the Hawks have had the puck in the Wings zone.
  3. Has Andres Blanco gotten any playing time so far this spring? I was hoping he could claim the 25th man spot over Tracy or Millar.
  4. This is all I got from Cubs.com regarding possible lineups. Those of you praying to see Fontenot on TV today will be sorely disappointed.
  5. I think what you said about Green is pretty accurate. He could be starter on bad team/great 6th man material.
  6. You're baiting me but I'll bite. I'll start out by saying that I have a lot of respect for Westbrook and I am impressed with his abilities. He's lit up Derrick Rose on the few occasions they've met. But they are two different types of players you are comparing. Westbrook IS a great distributor, he can rebound very well for a point guard. And yes Rose definitely has his shortcomings on defense. Severe shortcomings. But defense is something that players can improve over a career. Sure he probably doesn't have above average defense in him, but I'm confident he'll be an average defender or slightly better in time. Rose has proven to be a scorer, or at least is one right now because no one on the Bulls can score besides him most of the time. If you put Kevin Durant on the Bulls instead of Luol Deng, wouldn't you think Rose's assist numbers would be higher? If the Bulls had one reliable person who could shoot from outside, don't you wonder if Rose would be an even better scorer? If Rose didn't have a player on his team averaging 12 rebounds a game, do you think maybe his rebounds would be better? I mean who knows, but right now Derrick Rose is taking a pretty crappy team with no scoring ability and has at least made it into a .500 team. Westbrook is the 2nd or 3rd guy who will always defer to the superstar. Bottom line, if I had to start a team tomorrow and had to pick one of the 2, I think I'd take Rose. But as far as who will be better when all is said and done, I'd be willing to say "too early to tell"
  7. I tend to agree, although I won't discount that it could be better than expected. However, there is no way the starting pitching staff will be worse than 2006's. Actually even 2005's wasn't all that great. 2006 was a mix and match of every but 2005's was Zambrano, Maddux, Prior (sometimes), Rusch, Jerome Williams
  8. yes, that's exactly the same as winning a 7 game series in the playoffs and huet wasn't bad last night ??? Who said anything about the playoffs in that post?
  9. Bulls losing by double digits at halftime. Charlotte and Milwaukee winning (Milwaukee up double digits over Cleveland), Miami close with Atlanta. Typical day for the Bulls lately.
  10. This is kind of random but I can't find The Show thread. I am playing 09 The Show and playing road to the show. It's my 3rd season (2011) and I am in spring training playing the Red Sox. Look at the lineup they've assembled in this game: Ellsbury, CF Pedroia, 2B Holliday, LF Ortiz, DH Mauer, C Youkilis, 1B J. Guillen, RF Lowell, 3B Rollins, SS
  11. I don't consider myself an "average" fan by any means. But my days of living and dying with each win/loss are over. I live and die with my teams' wins and losses but I'm usually able to get over it within 5 minutes now. I was much worse 2 years ago as most here would attest to. My mood can be altered by wins/losses, but like you it usually lasts like 5 minutes or so. When I was like 20, people couldnt be around me when my teams lost. Pretty sad thinking about it in retrospect. For me it's all happened since the 08 playoff collapse. Also being around the game much more often has helped, but the collapse is really what did it. I just decided it wasn't worth it to be that involved in the win/loss outcome anymore. I wonder if that is similar to my change because it happened right around that time. I thought part of it is just growing up a bit. As you get older, time goes a little faster, you live longer and realize that whatever, the end of the season isn't the end of the world. As much as it sucks, another is coming your way in a few months. You start to become passionate/wrapped up in other things in life like work/career, family, etc. and sports aren't as much of an emotional outlet as they used to be. My mom tells me stories that my dad used to be as crazy as I was about the 4 Chicago teams that matter. Nowadays I call him if the Bears are on primetime (he lives in New Hampshire) to remind him about it. The other day he said "Hey that "Toes" guy from the Hawks is playing pretty well for Canada huh?"
  12. exactly. Which is why I hate "average" sports fans. I'm actually envious of the average fan. Everytime the Cubs lose my day is ruined, whenever UK loses in b-ball my week is ruined. Even though i realize if the cubs lose 62 games it was the best season I have ever witnessed i still live and die on every win and loss. Sometimes I wish i was just an "average" fan. 13. Anaheim is a good matchup for us. The more slow, physical teams we play in the playoffs, the better. Anaheim has played pretty good against us this year. We are 1-2 against them and the 2 games we lost we were outscored a combined 6-1 (we won 5-2 in the other game).
  14. For years I got great seats at the UC for Wings/Hawks games for next to nothing...I can't express how depressing it is to have to pay a lot for 300 level seats. It would be nice of Hawks fans to let us Wings fans fill up the UC still. I think that is real cool salukifudd. I really hope you enjoy the game. I really hope the Wings win though, cause they need to points badly. I hear ya man. Even though the Hawks were awful, a group of old coworkers would always get a bunch of seats to Hawks Wings games because hey its Hawks Wings and I'd tag along. It was 70% Red Wings fans, and despite that, the Blackhawks fans there would be so agitated but what could they really say or do. I haven't even been to a game this year because of how ridiculously overpriced the tickets are and the fact that I've been poor this year. I am considering buying SRO tickets for next Sunday's game against Washington though.
  15. And only then if Carlos Silva isn't pitching.
  16. Like those flyballs that all would have been hits if they hadn't been caught. I'm hoping his BABIP can be somewhere around .750 this year.
  17. I know people say this all the time but holy crap Geo is skinny. I feel like I was just watching him take cuts in 2004 spring training or something. You're used to seeing players get bigger as their careers go along not much smaller. I think he must have swallowed a tapeworm or something to lose all that weight in the offseason.
  18. Well geez. We enjoyed your career Angel...
  19. Any truth to the rumor that the score is already 4-0 White Sox due to Silva starting?
  20. The bullpen could be good, who knows? Pens are a crapshoot. There are very few people who can be consistent bullpen arms. Most of the ones that are end up as closers. So maybe we'll get lucky and they'll be good.
  21. Agreed...I can't stand Vancouver. I love when we get the best of them!
  22. Now there's a move by Hendry that I approve of!
  23. What a promising start to the game so far. Watching Huet make great save after save on that 5 on 3 for Vancouver was very very promising. Or just a fluke.....or the start of a patented Huet hot streak.
