  1. So this is currently the chart of projected starters I think: McKie Taylor Cutler Hester Shaffer-Garza-Kreutz-Beekman-Williams Bennett Peppers-Harris-Adams-Brown Tillman Tinoisamoa-Urlacher-Briggs Bowman Afalava-Manning
  2. Why couldn't those cheap ass Bears get Peppers AND Kampman?
  3. When is this press conference gonna start?
  4. I've seen more elite DE's last into their mid 30's than elite RB's.... Of course he'll last longer than the RB. But he'll also be paid more for a longer period of time where his contract could be an issue in the last few years. Chester's deal is basically just a ton of money up front in an uncapped year. Individually it's also more because the biggest questions on him are effort, work ethic and consistency which would figure to be more pressing as you get to your mid-30's. Only the 1st 3 years of Peppers deal is guaranteed. I think he will be able to be productive during the 3 guaranteed years, and if his performance falls after that, you cut him no big deal. That's awesome. If Peppers sucks from day 1, it's possible only one season hurts us. This season is uncapped and there are talks that next season might be as well.
  5. The Trib says Guzman won't be ready by Opening Day. Is it ok to freak out now?
  6. I feel like half of Cutler's INTs last year were a result of trying to find Olsen in a sea of defenders. Maybe this will help him. The other half of Cutler's INTs came from miscommunication between Knox and Cutler.
  7. No TV or Radio. 2 good pitchers starting their spring. Tomorrow's game is on TV, but don't know if its Cubs or Sox guys.
  8. We did sign one, with 2 more warming in the oven. We'll see what happens. I definitely agree if Peppers gets on a plane it's not a good sign for that deal. Which if this was a Jake Peavy or Kobe type situation, we should be seeing the "Julius Peppers is heading to Philly" blurb on Rotoworld in about (stealing a line from CubsGM) 5.....4.....3....
  9. I saw 6 new pages of posts and assumed we signed like 6 top FAs by now.
  10. Philly also signed TO and did they get that tackle from the Bills in a trade or FA? Those were both pretty high priced FA acquisitions. Isn't Asante Samuel a pretty big name in FA? I feel like TO was traded to the Eagles though. Those teams typically don't go after FAs because their GMs can draft. Ours for the most part can't so what are we supposed to do? Besides, you could count the Bears in the list of teams that typically didn't go after FAs before this year, and they certainly haven't been world beaters, and there are teams that do go after FAs occasionally and are good most of the time. The bottom line is, I am not huge on FAs, and I would much rather build through the draft. But in our situation, it's a no brainer that we fill some holes with FA. Hell our "2nd round pick" died this offseason.
  11. It doesn't work for the Redskins because they do this every year trying to fill every hole with the latest FA. FAs are typically older and have less shelf life than someone you draft due to the experience you have to have to be an unrestracted FA. I don't necessarily think the Bears are changing their talent acquisition strategy to signing big named FAs every year. I think due to the Cutler and Adams trades, they are in a situation where they have obvious holes to fill, an uncapped year coming up, an aging defensive core that needs to win now, no draft picks until the 3rd round, and the HC and GM's jobs likely on the line. So in this situation it makes absolute sense to throw a crapload of money at the biggest FAs of need. If the Bears go 11-5 next year and make a run in the playoffs, I highly doubt they are going into the off season trying to make a run at the biggest FAs again. This is a one time thing. If it fails, Lovie and likely Angelo are gone. If it works, its back to the draft strategy, although it's possible Angelo might revise his previous strategy and incorporate a possible FA here and there into the mix. And by that I mean bigger names than Frank Omiyale or Marty Booker, but smaller names than Julius Peppers.
  12. I've spent way too many hours in my life refreshing message boards hoping for players that never end up coming here. I won't get excited until the press conference.
  13. We're not getting Rolle. And no I'd rather have Taylor than Westbrook. Westbrook is a concussion away from retiring. Fair enough. I do think Taylor is overrated on this board though. I like Taylor a lot. Or at least the last time he got a full season's worth of carries. But then again it's been several years since he played with an offensive line that wasn't the Vikings.
  14. I can't remember ever waiting for FA to start because the Bears haven't ever been involved in the big names. Does anything happen tonight, or should I not bother waiting up?
  15. Beaten by 4 minutes
  16. PFT is making it seem like Rolle is not a Bear just yet and he'll be going to visit the Giants tomorrow morning if nothing is agreed upon tonight. Chris Mortensen is hearing that the Rolle sweepstakes will come down to the Giants and Dolphins. (Even though the Bears were negotiating first.) http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/04/rolle-expected-to-visit-giants/
  17. Why should they? They shouldn't. My post was saying don't get mad at this season, the Bulls brass doesn't care so why should we. This season isn't important. Well, yeah. Some of us have been saying that the entire time. Yeah it's just a reminder to frustrated fans like GeoSoto
  18. I they both feed into the mix. Part of it is injuries, part of it is the trades (which is really killing us in the post defensively and rebounding wise) and part of it is not having the depth to withstand everything that happened.
  19. Why should they? They shouldn't. My post was saying don't get mad at this season, the Bulls brass doesn't care so why should we. This season isn't important.
  20. Of course. But I honestly think they thought the Bulls would still be a playoff team and probably 95% as good as before the trades. They still might be, but they are clearly worse. No one should/will get mad at GarPax if the trades lead to a max FA signed. They had to do the trades for that. Oh and also, the Bulls didn't need to trade Tyrus, they were just sick of his crap. They could have kept him and renounced his rights early on in the offseason and I believe they'd be around the same spot cap wise.
  21. you mean since noah got hurt It's not just that though. The Bulls went from statistically the best rebounding team in the NBA to being outrebounded 109-68 the last 2 games (33-16 offensively). That's not just Noah.
  22. I want to be bothered by this now, but you know the Bulls brass doesn't give 2 craps that we apparently seem to be worse since the Tyrus/Salmons trade. No one should really care if the Bulls win or lose these games. As fun as it would be to see them make the playoffs, the cards are stacked against them. They have no depth and are beaten up. Save your angst until we see how things go in the summer because this season is pointless. The games are basically just opportunities to develop Derrick Rose and auditions for possibly role players on next year's team.
  23. It wouldn't surprise me if Washington got him. Washington is the most profitable team in sports, their owner loves to spend on FAs and there is no salary cap next year. It's a no brainer.
  24. I just got an email from the Bears previewing free agency with the headline "READY TO ROLL". Coincidence? (Rolle)
  25. What if Bradley was just making a joke and the quote was taken out of context and gobbled up by the Chicago media?
