  1. lol that is so damn on point and well said
  2. People on Twitter are claiming that Fields (and his dog?) unfollowed the Bears on Instagram lol so we’ve reached that part of the offseason
  3. He's using the RSN issues as an excuse. He said somehing about all teams having challenges right now with RSNs. BS. At this point its pretty clear there's always going to be some issue in the way. They'll spend when they have a title caliber team and hang out below the luxury tax when they don't.
  4. Definitely see Tom’s comments as positive for Bellinger. First that he’s even willing to speak publicly about a free agent target. Second that he’s using the media to put some pressure on Boras to get serious. My read is that the Cubs want him to complete the offseason. Doesn’t mean they’ll get him but seems positive.
  5. This organization clearly has its horsefeathers together
  6. knew this was coming after they got everyone all excited about the project
  7. To be clear I don't look down on anyone who pays for it, I was just surprised at the number of people who pay for it given how many mock drafts I see on twitter, etc.
  8. So I was going to get into the PFF mock draft craze that it seems like everyone is doing, but upon starting a mock draft I realized you can't make draft day trades unless you subscribe to PFF+? So everyone here and on twitter that posts their mock drafts with trades is paying $10 a month for PFF+?
  9. I wouldnt be STUNNED, I mean Stroud and the Texans won 10 games just last year seemingly starting from a worse position than the Bears are at. But it would require Caleb to be very good from day 1 like Stroud.
  10. New shooting coach making an impact
  11. Yeah, it was so cringe
  12. I legit might have to quit Twitter from now until the draft. I just scrolled through my “For You” feed and like 16 of the first 20 tweets were something about Fields/Caleb. One was some dude gushing directly to Fields about how he knows how special Justin is and how there are millions like him that know how special he is and the people who are pro-Caleb are a vocal minority. I just can’t take this stupid discourse anymore and how cringe people are getting about taking sides and looking at the other side as the enemy. It’s the same horsefeathers conversation every day for 2 months only people continue to get weirder about it as time goes on.
  13. Caleb Williams has been liking stuff related to the Bears on Twitter the last day or so. So that’s fun.
  14. One thing I will say is that even though I’m generally on team mega thread, I find it interesting that even though there was a stated desire to end mega threads, we still ended up with virtually all offseason talk in one thread (Cubs offseason thread). The one place I preferred not having mega threads was the Transactions forum as it made sense to have separate topics for each rumor or transaction so things didn’t get lost in the shuffle which is kind of what is happening now.
  15. Well lets look at a couple of Boras clients that he ended up dragging into Spring Training without a deal. The 2 that pop into my head right away are Jake Arrieta and Bryce Harper. Jake Arrieta ended up signing with the Phillies on March 11th. He didn't end up making his first regular season start until the Phillies 8th game, but pitched really well, having a 2.18 ERA in his first 10 starts. Bryce Harper signed on February 28th but I think was ready for the season to start after having a couple of weeks of spring training ABs. So it seem like Boras is more than willing to let this drag out well into Spring Training if needed and while I do think when one of them signs things will start to move a bit quicker as teams get weeded out for the other guys, I don't think it will be a dam breaking necessarily.
  16. He kept saying look at the standings we're all bunched up....so I looked at the standings. The Bulls have a 3.5 game cushion for a play-in spot, but are 3 games behind the next closest team (a spot that would give them 2 chances to win 1 game to make the playoffs), and 4.5 games behind a guaranteed playoff spot. Not insurmountable by any means but I'd hardly call it "bunched up"
  17. 2022 Trade Deadline - 0 moves 2023 Trade Deadline - 0 moves 2024 Trade Deadline - 0 moves AKME has made 3 trades since the start of 2022, the lowest amount in the league over the time, and they've all been extremely minor.
  18. Lonzo is coming back next year!! He’ll be the first player in history to have his surgery and return to the NBA but he’ll somehow be back to save us.
  19. More Bellinger rumblings though it’s more of that “I feel like..” reporting
  20. I think we're on paper worse but with more upside if you consider the young talent that is quickly improving. I would be super disappointed if this was what they trotted out offensively on opening day and it would damage my enthusiasm for the season significantly but there's still a pathway to being good. In a way it kind of feels like the Giants of the last 2 offseasons where they seemingly have many of the pieces in place but some decent holes and their fans are dying for them to make any sort of big move to shore up the team.
  21. im holding you to that
  22. we must be relevant again with bedard
  23. By my count 19 MLB teams have now committed more total $$ in a contract than the Cubs ($184m) Not that this is the end all be all or that the Cubs wouldn't offer a larger contract especially to a young player like Witt Jr. It's just interesting.
