  1. What are you doing Morel? wtf he was gonna be safe anyways at 2B
  2. We have the worst luck on batted balls
  3. Way to kill a great start to the inning Dansby.
  4. Almost an Eli Morrero there Again why are we playing this game? 6 walks/HBP in the last inning and a half, routine fly balls dropped (absolutely should have been caught but conditions played a factor), players falling down getting out of the batters box.
  5. What are doing out there guys? I get these are suboptimal conditions but get it together.
  6. Can’t believe he threw that pitch to Seiya. Guy makes essentially a 4 run error the previous inning, clearly by the earlier swings in the AB he’s looking to hit one 500 feet. You obviously don’t want to walk a run but…
  7. Anyways, a huge reason that 8 runs were scored that inning is the fact that they are playing in pouring rain, after waiting for 3 hours for the game to start, with a day game that will start maybe 13 hours after this game ends. Thankfully I think the Cubs have an off day Monday
  8. Ok you’re even now happy for Seiya even as annoying as that dropped fly ball still is
  9. Jed likely saw this 83 win team and figured that Ross may have been worth -1 or -2 wins last year and Counsell could be worth 1-2 wins. And voila you have an 86 win team
  10. First 2 Cubs reach but we’ve reached the….offensively challenged portion of the lineup
  11. What the heck did Steele do? Gave up 2 singles in the inning but outside of that walked and hit a batter while it was pouring out and then gave up a pop up and a routine fly ball
  12. Seiya looks like he’s about to cry coming off the field
  13. Obviously Seiya should have caught that but unreal that we had to play through pouring rain screwing with Steeles control and making that fly ball harder to catch
  14. I’m never going to trust any fly balls from Seiya for the rest of his time here. This sucks
  15. Cubs continue to find ways to annoy me every day. also it’s pouring out and there’s no way Steele has good grip on his pitches. Hes about to give up some runs because they won’t stop the game. This is annoying
  16. Anyone hoping for some bullpen help from injured players returning, you’re gonna have to wait
  17. Real Madrid wins the Champions League and is adding Mbappe, must be nice!
  18. That's not how this works. Now the internet panics that the defense is actually terrible.
  19. Also I've been really bitching about all the outs on the bases, but I also noticed that despite annually being in the top 5 of most outs on the bases, they somehow are also always towards the top of the league in BsR (Base running runs above average). Not sure how good this metric is, but at least according to that the Cubs are actually adding value with their baserunning. Outs on the bases: 2024 - Most 2023 - 4th Most 2022 - 2nd Most 2021 - 9th Most BsR: 2024 - 8th Best 2023 - 8th Best 2022 - 4th Best 2021 - 18th Best I'm having a difficult time understanding how the Cubs can annually be among the worst at committing outs on the bases, but also annually be in the top 3rd of teams in value created from base running. I get that there is more to base running metrics than how often you get out. The Cubs could be exceptional at going from 1st to 3rd on a single or scoring from 1st on a double I guess. Even still it doesn't make sense to me that the team that commits so many outs is also considered good. My only theory is that the Cubs must stress very aggressive baserunning, and because of that they are naturally going to be thrown out more than other teams. But at the same time they're also benefitting from taking extra bases more often than other teams, and when you add it all up, the aggression results in a good baserunning team. BTW none of this excuses the send today, that was awful. But as someone who has been putting the Cubs on blast for their baserunning for a couple of weeks, I feel compelled to also point out the positives with their baserunning.
  20. Yeah there's absolutely no way Jed is going to fortify a team in the middle of a 11-21 tailspin. And I don't know if he should until this team plays like its worth adding to.
  21. Cubs now have 27 outs on the bases this year, leading baseball -4th most outs at 1B (4) -2nd most outs at 2B (8) -3rd most outs at 3B (5) -Most outs at home (10 - 2 more than any other team)
  22. It's a team with a super aggressive 3B coach, poor baserunning instincts and a sense of desperation during a horrifically bad stretch.
  23. I saw Dansby was caught on the bases today too, was that also at home?
