  1. I feel like we haven't played many Hawks games at home lately, and we haven't. Until today, we played at the UC only once in the last 17 days. That's roughly as long a stretch with only 1 home game as the Olympic Break was.
  2. I'm assuming the funny part is Jeter. Was that a fan list or something an actual sportswriter came up with?
  3. I am not looking forward to hearing the theme music to "The Natural" every time a Ranger goes deep this weekend. I remember how annoying that was in 2007. At least we don't have to worry about Sosa hitting a milestone HR against us.
  4. Well 2 years ago it was blue, last year it was red, so naturally this year it's white.
  5. Exactly. Colvin isn't going to net much at this point. Especially not for Travis Snider
  6. Fair enough. I just don't want them starting to believe that they can't win at home.
  7. 3-3 Wins: Game 2 vs. Nashville - Fairly sound 2-0 win Game 5 vs. Nashville - This was the Kane comeback with 13 seconds left shorthanded game Game 2 vs. Vancouver - Got absolutely dominated in the first 8-10 minutes, fell behind 2-0, but clawed back to win 4-2 Losses: Game 1 vs. Nashville - Lost 4-1, but 2 of the goals were ENs Game 1 vs. Vancouver - Lost 5-1 and got dominated most of the game Game 5 vs. Vancouver - Lost 4-1 and didn't look as bad as game 1 but didn't look awesome either Goal differential at home this postseason 14-19 with a 1-2 differential in EN goals. All of that said, I'm not worried about a 6 game sample size, and no one should be afraid to play playoff games at home, especially if the team only lost 8 games in regulation there all year. If we lose all 3 of our home games this series causing us to lose the series, it was because we weren't good enough to beat the Sharks 4 times in 7 games, not because we didn't have our pregame stuff occur at a hotel.
  8. You're telling your guys, "we stink at home and have to mix things up." What if they lose that game? Then what? They are in total control, what is the point of introducing gimmicks? They've been horrible in most of the home games in the playoffs. It may be a dumb gimmick, but I'm for anything that changes the mojo that we have entering home games. How about we just play like we do on the road at the United Center? Is that really too much to ask for? They've been horrible at home yet horrible means 3-3 against competition that is playing with 100% intensity. They also had I think the 2nd best home record in the league this year. They are a really good home team. Like jersey said, the Hawks are in complete control of this series. Why take a chance of throwing any doubt in the team's mind by going out of your way to make it not feel like a home game. There is a very good chance that the Sharks come out and beat us tomorrow night whether or not we change anything. Their whole season is on the line for them, so they are going to throw everything at us. If we start changing up stuff and then we lose, then the media goes big time on the "winning at home struggles" and that's all we'll hear about from Friday until Sunday at 2pm.
  9. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/ct-spt-0520-bulls-chicago--20100519,0,3151299.story :-)) At least he can finally be on the up and up when he's paying players to play here.
  10. Yeah I guess that is the one negative that can be had by doing this. You are starting to mentally believe the hype that you can't win at home if you do something like this.
  11. I think the "what has he done for me this week" reactions that people have towards players who have carried teams for years and given their fans tons of happy memories is one of the biggest things I hate about sports. I don't know if this happened a lot in the past, but it seems like it's happening with more frequency these days.
  12. See that's taking it a little overboard in my opinion. Do you really think mentally it will help to sleep in a hotel the night before? If it does, won't coming into the arena and hearing 22k fans scream for you change that mindset quickly? That said, I don't think it will change anything about the game positively or negatively, so if they want to stay in a hotel the night before, have fun.
  13. Is that the first strikeout of his career? I haven't been following enough, but I don't remember seeing any K's.
  14. I'm sure that contract is a big regret for the Indians and their fans right about now, even if it only goes for (i think) one more season after this. I know the Indians had expected to contend, but for a smaller market team to give a closer $10M a year, especially one that has only had 1 year of actual closing experience and a long long list of injury issues throughout his career, it just boggles my mind.
  15. Geo's been in a pretty bad slump lately anyways so maybe a day off isn't the worst thing. .107/.286/.107/.393 (3-28) in his last 10 games.
  16. Yeah, the whole thing has been a major step back. They've been doing this for years, but I agree. I always watch the first couple of rounds of the playoffs, but by the time it gets to the conference finals, there are so many off days that I quickly lose interest.
  17. Modified in that the Phillies were scheduled to sweep this series, but now they can't
  18. What a slimeball to make everyone do all that work to verify that he did in fact use PEDs when he kept swearing that he was clear of any wrongdoing. And then one day randomly, he pops up and say 'yes i did use peds, but LANCE ARMSTRONG DID TOO!"
  19. So what ever happened with this? I'm too lazy to look it up. Did he play the next day?
  20. If he somehow gets 2, I knew 312 would pay off eventually!
  21. OMG you are one of THOSE Cubs fans. Going to a baseball game is supposed to be an act of reverence and a time for calm reflection.
  22. OMG OMG John Clayton said the Bears offense is the best thing he's seen in training camp so far! (2007) Jay Cutler is throwing bullets all over the field, he's making Devin Hester look like an all pro receiver (2009)
  23. Kirkwoods is my favorite beer garden with pretty decent flatscreens. I've watched Bears games there in the early fall. Justins is another beergarden with TVs, but the TVs are not that great there. They are small and all situated at the actual bar and not really easy to see from most of the outdoor seats. There's also a ton in just the immediate Wrigleyville area. Murphy's for one has a huge semi-outdoor area, also that place right next to the Cubby Bear has a big outdoor section. With the weather the wya it is, many of those bars have huge windows that slide open and make it feel like your outside even though you're still inside. Four Shadows on Diversey and Ashland opens all their windows up like that, if you want to be in Lakeview but a little distance from Wrigley. On a side note, it's tough to in Boston with all the excitment about the Blackhawks running through my system, since everyone here flat out refuses to recognize hockey as a sport after last weekend... Welcome to the board! Screw Boston...one of their teams lose and they have another championship contender waiting for them. I've been waiting 13 years for another champion in Chicago (at least the teams that count).
