  1. Those cheap ass mother [expletive]. They really deserve a red as its pretty obvious they have no intention of going for the ball half the time.
  2. If that was anywhere but exactly right at the keeper at chest level, that's the equalizer. Fudge
  3. SO CLOSE DAMMIT
  4. These stupid americans don't know how to play football. How did they make such a great touch pass, those idiots must have used their hands. I must give out yellows.
  5. good passing for USA. Getting chances....need to get SOG though. Every time we've done that we've gotten success so far. Doesn't have to be the prettiest goal ever.
  6. Or we could draw this, and then have England beat Slovakia like they should while the USA beats Algeria by 2 goals. Either way that would involve at least 4 goals from a team that has only had one complete gift of a goal in 135 minutes so far.
  7. Amazing. It's hard to get a better draw than the one we got. Then we managed to get a point out of by far the only real tough team in the group. And we still aren't going to advance. At this rate, we'll lose to Algeria too.
  8. Maybe we'll get to the knockout round in 2014. Embarrassing
  9. Knocked out in the group stage again. FU
  10. At least we are getting some really good pressure on them. Hypothetically if we keep that up we should score. But the fact that we haven't scored yet on some great chances hurts my heart.
  11. SO CLOSE
  12. It's hard watching this with no sound. Why did Findley get a yellow on that corner??
  13. So if we lose this game, we have to hope that England either flatout loses one of their last 2 games and the USA has a better goal dif., or ties each of its last 2 games. Oof.
  14. I guess we are attacking a little bit better since the goal.
  15. you can pass the ball past the last defender, but that defender has to be even with the recepient of the pass when the passer initiates the pass. If the recepient sprints away from the defender after the pass is kicked and receives it, he can easily find himself on a breakaway. Also it doesn't matter where the defender is...if the recepient is in the middle of the field, and the only defender between him and the goalie is up at the top of the field and nowhere near the recepient, it's still onsides.
  16. They are the Randy Wells of the soccer world.
  17. It's not difficult. Takes a bit of practice to be able to spot it though. When the pass is made, there has to be a defender in front or even with (i believe) the recepient of the pass. It doesn't matter if the recepient is 30 yards ahead of the defender when he gets it, it only matters where he is when the pass is made.
  18. We're in trouble...wtf
  19. I'm glad lt. Daniels didn't book him Wait he didn't even get a yellow? I am only half watching at this second because of work. I saw the play but didn't see the result.
  20. What were you watching? You don't think the LBs would have been better with Urlacher and Pisa in there instead of Hillenmeyer and Williams or whoever was in there? Watch the Cincinnati game again and see Benson getting to the outside because the linebackers could get there quick enough. Or see Palmer buying time because the blitz couldn't get through and find wide open guys. The LBs had a couple of decent games, but by no means were they a strength IMO.
  21. I think the sentiment was that Germany v. Serbia was pretty much a wash. It's the potential quarterfinal game that's a huge difference. What about all the yellows picked up setting possible suspensions? Won't effect any game we play against them. The shot for Ghana to take points from Germany probably gets higher, but I don't think Germany loses to them and if they tie anyone, they have that 4-0 win over Aussie going for them. Right now the standings are Germany (2 G) 3, +3, Serbia (2 G) 3, +0, Ghana (1 G) 3, +1, Australia (1 G) 0, -4. I guess it all depends on how many goals Ghana beats Australia by, but yeah you might be looking at a scenario where Serbia has to beat Australia by X number of goals to advance. Germany should be through still with a win against Ghana, as even a 1 goal win gives them a high enough goal differential to make them feel safe. Interesting group with that result though.
  22. i don't care at all about athletes personal lives or what they act like. i just don't see why people get all upset when people point out that kane fits the mold of what many or most athletes are like. people really shouldn't be looking at athletes if they want an idol or role model. if reminds me of how bill simmons always talks about how he avoids hanging out with athletes that play for any of his teams because his perception of them is completely ruined when he sees the way they act and the things they do (most specifically the married ones). no one probably wants to hang out with bill simmons anyways I'm pretty sure J-Bug and House are imaginary people Simmons "hangs out" with
  23. I have thought about this and this is my theory: The Cubs have a pretty decent starting pitching staff and a bullpen that is somewhat stabilizing (at least 8th-9th guys). They can stop good and bad offenses many nights. However, their offense is putrid. They cannot score runs against anyone. So what we see is that these sub-500 teams get just enough offense to win, while the punchless Cubs can't do anything to come back. The same things happen against good teams. Sample size is the reason they've won a few more against the good teams. Yeah, but teams like the Astros and Pirates not only have worse offenses than we do, at least on paper, but they dont have the pitching we have. When it comes down to bad offense vs. bad offense, shouldnt the team with the better pitching win? Id take our number 5 or 6 starter over any Pirates or Astros starter aside from Oswalt any day. Well obviously our offense is worse in that it can't even hit bad pitching. Case in point Charlie Morton and his 1-9 record and 9.35 ERA. 6 IP 2 ER against the Cubs for his only win. Yay
  24. tom thibodeau would be awful confused if that happened.
