So trying not to get too high after this one and not too low after last week, what have we learned so far... Offense: -The Martz offense can move via quick drops, not just 5 and 7 step drops -We're not gonna have much of a run game this year -The offensive line is probably worse than last year. -Cutler seems to be more comfortable this year and more confident in this offense and with these weapons -The dual threats of Forte and Taylor can give defenses some reason to stuff the box via screens and dump offs. Defense: -LBs make this entire D work. -The D-line needs someone to step up since teams are going to consistently double up on Peppers until someone proves they shouldn't -Secondary is ok, but I think they are only going to be effective when the D is getting consistent rush. -I feel like the Bears are in a better position on 3rd and 5 than 3rd and 10, mostly because it gives the LBs a better chance of being involved in making a play. On 3rd and 10, especially when the Bears blitz with their LBs, which they do often, when the D doesnt get pressure right away it gives a good QB time to find one of the receivers or TE open because the secondary can't shut down good WRs by themselves most plays. The D only gave up 13 points today and 14 in week 1. I'll take that, especially because they are 2 decent to good offensive teams.
