    I just think it's odd to immediately blame the owner for being cheap and not wanting to spend to win just because they didn't acquire the baseball player you wanted. Maybe they have a different plan. While I wasn't thrilled with the draft, and while I'll admit that the Cubs have seemed a little frugal since the Ricketts family has taken over, by no means am I ready to accuse them of not wanting to do what it takes.

    I was actually thinking about that earlier. It seems right. This man was the Cubs...more than any other player, fan, owner, etc. The only person who can compare is Ernie. Don't you go pulling a Norm/Red on me God.

    I wonder if this was expected by many who knew him. Obviously the public didn't know he had baldder cancer until today but I wonder if it progressed significantly before he died or if he unexpectedly died due to complications.

    It's because all the season tickets were sold before The Decision. Plus the fans still had some hope that the Cavs would be good despite no LeBron, because of their past excitement. Looks like that enthusiasm is dying though as most of the rest this season have tickets starting at $2 on StubHub

    No...I think the Pats were the 2nd 11-5 team to miss the playoffs when they missed a couple years ago. This 12-4 scenario is highly unlikely so I doubt it happens this year. But I feel like it's very likely that a 10-6 team misses the playoffs in the NFC.

    Makes me chuckle remembering reading a Cavs forum just before the season and seeing some of their fans predicting a 50-32 season with the argument being "We won 66 with LeBron and some people are predicting 30 wins. That's saying that LeBron alone is with 36 wins and that's just not possible for one player to be worth that much." Reminds me of when the Bulls traded away their dynasty and before the season, my naive 16 year old self figured that the Bulls would still probably make the playoffs the next season.

    This is a scenario where the Bears would finish 12-4 and not make the playoffs. Week 13: Bears over Lions Eagles over Texans Saints over Bengals Packers over 49ers Buccaneers over Falcons Week 14: Bears over Patriots Eagles over Cowboys Saints over Rams Packers over Lions Buccaneers over Redskins Falcons over Panthers Week 15: Bears over Vikings Eagles over Giants Saints over Ravens Packers over Patriots Buccaneers over Lions Falcons over Seahawks Week 16: Bears over Jets Eagles over Vikings Saints over Falcons Packers over Giants Buccaneers over Seahawks Week 17: Packers over Bears Eagles over Cowboys Buccaneers over Saints Falcons over Panthers 1. Falcons (12-4) 2. Packers (12-4) 3. Eagles (12-4) 4. 49ers (6-10) 5. Buccaneers (12-4) 6. Saints (12-4) ---------------- 7. Bears (12-4) 8. Giants (10-6) Not sure which tiebreakers the Bears lose out on with the Packers, Bucs and Saints, it's just what ESPN spit out.

    BTW, Mortensen and Schefter picked the Lions this weekend. I don't think its crazy to predict a Lions win at home even with their 3rd string guy, but I am surprised some of the media did. It's usually not difficult to predict the media's thinking and after a big win over the Eagles that proved the Bears were at least semi-legit to most people, combined with Hill being out, I expected the media to be almost unanimously in favor of the Bears.

    there have been a bunch of "a-hole" chants Akron hates you was audible. Yup, theyt started that right after I posted. Now the Cavs are getting their ass kicked badly so all the fun is gone. I thought for sure Cleveland would keep the game competitive if not win it.

    The crowd is really rocking. But no one has thrown anything yet and there hasn't been any good chants yet.

    If that happened, I'd be perfectly fine with no NFL in 2011. Hell I'll be pissed if 11-5 doesn't make it. I still think its insane that the Pats went 11-5 a couple years back and didn't make the playoffs. How the hell is that not good enough to play in the playoffs? Heck, 10-6 and no playoffs makes me angry too. The worst thing about that 12-4 and no playoffs scenario is that I think the NFC west team qualified for the playoffs at 8-8. Could you imagine the backlash if a 12-4 team didn't make the playoffs and an 8-8 team got a home playoff game?

    lol, in that Playoff Machine thing, I made a scenario where the Bears finish 12-4 and don't make the playoffs. Edit: Also found another one where 3 NFC West teams make it.

    Ok, my whole point was to point out that it'd be much easier to get a bye if the Eagles are the champs, and the Giants in the WC race isnt the worst thing in the world since either them or the Packers are guaranteed to lose again this year, helping us in one race or the other. I just didn't put together my thought very well. I don't want the Eagles to win tonight. I just want them to win the division instead of the Giants and/or both teams finish with a worse record than the Bears. If the Bears finish 3-2 (11-5), the Giants would have to go 4-1 to finish ahead, of the Bears and the Eagles 5-0.

    I mean yeah I want them to lose more games than they win too. Especially to protect us against our hard schedule. But I'd prefer they win the East and the Giants fall to the WC or worse.

    We definitely need to be cheering for the Eagles (somewhat) and against the Giants. The Giants are obviously a worse WC team for us to match up against because they have the H2H tiebreaker over us. But a couple of reasons why I think we should cheer for the Eagles to take the East. 1) We have the tiebreaker over the Eagles so if we tie in records, we will get the higher seed. Much more likely to get a bye in this scenario than one where the Giants are the East champs. 2) The Packers and Giants still have to play each other, thus guaranteeing that one of those scenarios will help us in one of our two playoff races (Division or WC). If you think about it, the Bears are 2 games up on EITHER the Giants or Packers for a playoff spot. I am going to pretend that the Bucs will fade and not be a factor because its more likely than the other teams fading. So basically because the Giants and Packers play together, unless they tie which is highly unlikely, it is impossible for both to run the table. So either the Packers or Giants might as well be 7-5 right now and the other 8-4.

    I was interested so I checked out that site you just posted. Under the Bears page there are several pictures of Bengals gear that is label as Bears gear.

    I spent way too much time trying to make wacky scenarios where afterthought teams somehow end up with 1st round byes. My first one I did had 1. Bears (12-4) 2. Falcons (11-5) 3. Cowboys (8-8) 4. 49ers (8-8) 5. Buccaneers (10-6) 6. Vikings (9-7) 1. Dolphins (11-5) 2. Texans (10-6) 3. Ravens (10-6) 4. Raiders (9-7) 5. Patriots (11-5) 6. Jaguars (10-6) Then I did another one just the AFC where I had 1. Jets (13-3) 2. Jaguars (10-6) 3. Browns (9-7) 4. Broncos (8-8) 5. Dolphins (10-6) 6. Titans (9-6-1) Gotta love Titans @ Browns and Dolphins @ Broncos first round matchups.
