  1. But the thing is, he wasn't even really gettin the team good field position the last couple of years. I think he was either average or slightly below average in punt return yardage the last 2 seasons.
  2. If he was going to pick a good time to return his first punt for a TD in 2 years, on Monday Night Football was perfect.
  3. Actually, Brandon Marshall might work out better than your current options. LOL I meant Brandon Jackson. For real?
  4. I'm not a fan of these huge ratings especially because this game topped another Bear game from last year. ESPN and NBC see these numbers are going to want the Bears in primetime but I prefer the Sunday afternoon games by a wide margin. Why doesn't ESPN put the games on ABC and get even more viewers? I think that having the games on ESPN raises the profile of the network and ultimately helps ESPN more than having the games on ABC would. Maybe I'm wrong. But I know when there's a good game on MNF or the Bears are on, I leave the TV on ESPN all afternoon until probably an hour after the game even if I'm not exactly sitting there watching every minute.
  5. I don't know how the Cubs are going to cut $15 million from their payroll and still afford Dunn as I've seen speculated. The only definitive thing I've read though was from Ricketts himself saying that payroll would probably go down a bit next year. In owner speak "probably" likely means "will".
  6. I listened to sports radio for a big portion of the day and I didnt hear anyone "horny" about the whatever nonsense you were talking about. I did hear people excited that we are 3-0 and beat 2 Super Bowl contenders. I also heard people talking about how many mistakes we made and we're lucky to win. I heard people say that they think the Packers are still probably the better team. 3 weeks ago we thought our team would be mediocre to bad. Now we've started out 3-0. We're excited, no matter how we've won the games. You came into the season hoping to get into the Super Bowl. So of course losing to the Bears in week 3 isn't going to as big of a deal to you. We're coming from completely different wavelengths here. Continously posting about how the Packers are the better team just makes you look stupid and bitter that you lost a game. Shut up and let us enjoy football.
  7. Of course I should mention that they've gone 8-14 at home in that same stretch.
  8. If the Cubs can finish this one off today, they will have gone 16-3 (!!!!) in their last 19 road games. That is absolutely unreal. The best teams don't even do that very often. Heres a breakdown: Won last 2 @ STL (2-0) Swept a 3 game series @ WAS (5-0) Won 1 of 3 @ CIN (6-2) Won 2 of 3 @ MIL (8-3) Swept a 3 game series @ STL (11-3) Swept a 3 game series @ FLA (14-3) Won first 2 games @ SDG (16-3)
  9. That boggles my mind every year when that stat comes up. I mean it makes sense but it's difficult for any team to lose 20 years in a row when they play there once a year.
  10. So is the Colts' defensive line, though, with Mathis and Freeney. has clady ever given up a sack? He has. Like Once. And Clady and Harris are studs, but besides that the Broncos Line is just ok. And they have battled injury's all year h Ugh he was 2 picks from being a Bear (Clady). Instead we got Chris Williams...blah
  11. Turned it around from what? The point is Zambrano was never the High 4 ERA guy he was superficially earlier in the year. Well this is true as his ERA was never in the high 4's earlier in the year it was in the mid 6's and was over 7 as late as the middle of May and didn't drop below 5 until the end of August. I think it's fair to call it a turn around. Whether he was pitching to his true ability is immaterial - he was pitching poorly. I also think there was more going on at the begining of the year than we have heard - in regards to the moving to the bullpen. Part of the reason that his ERA didn't drop below 5 until late is because he wasn't given the chance to work through his early season struggles. He was thrown in the pen for a month and then got himself suspended for 3 weeks. He really hasn't started games consistently all year until late July.
  12. Raw, based on that report about Tommie in the hotel, the fact that a disgruntled Tommie in the locker room probably isn't a good thing, and his salary, I don't think he lasts the season as a Bears. I think the Bears will take a week or two to look for a trade, but they definitely hurt his value yesterday, and then he will be cut. I think the Bears making Harris inactive yesterday signaled that they are moving on from the Tommie Harris era.
  13. Hunter Hillenmeyer is technically still on the roster too. Whoops, yeah him too.
  14. Tied with every thread erik has posted in this year.
  15. I believe it. I don't think DVOA looks kindly at "bend but don't break". And we've been living too dangerously on that this year.
  16. This is great...keep it going guys. Now the criticism is that us Bears fans think we're going to the super bowl? Outside of all the Bears fans baiting you guys into more hilarious responses, I've seen Bears fans admitting things like "Rodgers is better than Cutler", "The Bears were lucky to win tonight", "Deep down I know the Packers are better than the Bears", "Rodgers is really really good". But you all read past that for some reason. Yes, omg the Bears team that we all thought was going to go mediocre at best is 3-0 after beating 2 Super Bowl contenders. why wouldn't we be excited? That doesn't mean we think we're the clear best team in the NFC North or whatever words you put in our mouths. It means we are excited at the performance of our football team. Isn't that what sports is all about?
  17. ESPN has the Bears 6th in their latest Power rankings. The Packers dropped to 4th
  18. It sucks that the Bears are now going to lose their last 13 games according to Bill Simmons' preseason predictions.
  19. I counted 17.... Mark Anderson Lance Briggs Desmond Clark Rashied Davis Roberto Garza Robbie Gould Chris Harris* Tommie Harris Devin Hester Israel Idonije Olin Kreutz Patrick Mannelly Daniel Manning Brad Maynard Charles Tillman Brian Urlacher Rod Wilson* *=Left the Bears and returned between 2006 and 2010
  20. Also, I saw this today and thought it was interesting. Can anyone guess how many Bears currently on the 53 man roster, were also on the roster in 2006?
  21. I knew someone would call me out on that. The only reason is because A) I thought Washington would be awful this year, and although they did in fact look awful last week, they were better than I thought the 2 prior weeks and while I don't think they are better than the Bears B) I just could not predict the Bears starting the season 7-0. So if they don't lose that one, they'll probably lose to the Giants or the Seahawks. I do have the Bears beating NE and the Jets. NE mostly because their defense is pretty bad, and because it will likely be really cold for that one, and not that I am a big fan of Bears weather, especially against a team that also plays in the cold and succeeds there, but I think the cold will slow the Pats passing attack enough for the Bears to have success. The Jets were just a complete gut feeling. I don't the gist that they are a great team. They are definitely good though.
  22. Revised schedule prediction: Team Prediction (Preseason Prediction) 1 Detroit W (W) 2 @ Dallas W (L) 3 Green Bay W (L) 4 @ New York W (L) 5 @ Carolina W (L) 6 Seattle W (W) 7 Washingtin L (W) 8 BYE 9 @ Buffalo W (W) 10 Minnesota L (L) 11 @ Miami W (W) 12 Philadelphia L (L) 13 @ Detroit W (W) 14 New England W (L) 15 @ Minnesota L (L) 16 New York W (L) 17 @ Green Bay L (L) Final Record 11-5 (Preseason 6-10) Maybe that seems too ambitious. I tried to not look at it like a homer but the way the season is shaping up with regards to how good teams have been so far, the schedule looks slightly easier than earlier on. Everyone said before that 3 of the first 4 and last 4 were extremely tough. Well we've made it through the first 4 at 3-1 at worst. That alone should change people's predictions, because I would be stunned to see proof of anyone predicting the Bears to beat both Dallas and GB when the schedule came out. We'll probably lose a game that we should win, and we could in fact win another game that we shouldn't, so that evens out.
  23. I think the one on the Giants official website is actually fairly decent.
