  1. Northwestern would be guaranteed a berth in the Big 10 championship game every year but I'm not sure it's that fair to have a 10-team division on the other side. Someone already made that exact same joke-fail To be fair, he almost certainly has me on ignore :)
  2. You pussies. Get out there and play some football. So the turf is a little rock hard. Back in the day, it was -30 degrees in December and we didn't have "heating coils" under the field. We used to dive head first off our benches into the ground without our helmets on just to get mentally warmed up for the game. Then they invented smelling salt and those [expletive] ass "doctors" said that slamming out heads into concrete wasn't good for your long term health. Screw long term health, I don't want to be 80...dem's the diaper years. I'd rather be brain dead during those days anyways, if not dead dead. Now get out there and play some football. And take off those damn shoulder pads, you told you to wear all that padding, your mommy?
  3. I'm not gonna lie, I'd be willing to try, just to see how much more worked up you can get. I honestly envision you repeatedly pounding your fist on your desk as you post these comments.
  4. I don't think the answer will be up for debate until Joe Webb has at least 3 Super Bowl rings of his own.
  5. Your own punter described the conditions as "walking on concrete", said that "anyone who hits their head on the turf is getting a concussion" and publically hoped that "no one gets catostrophically injured at the trainwreck that's about to take place", so I'm guessing Bears fans aren't the only ones that are worried about head injuries. All that said, I'm hoping that you are able to say "I told you so" regarding player safety tonight.
  6. I think his affection for his home state and his affection for his favorite team are colliding with disasterous results.
  7. Tennessee is still alive? That's awesome. I'll be rooting for that scenario just for kicks.
  8. NFC NORTH CHAMPS!!!!!
  9. Unless they make a major leap up in the standings they absolutely should keep building for the future by the time the trading deadline arrives. Two wins are much less meaningful than 40% of a disappointing season. They are only 2 points ahead of 2 teams with 4 games in hand each. The playoffs remain very much in doubt. Yes but based on the fact that we won the Stanley Cup last year with a majority of the "key" players returning, it's more likely we play much better the rest of the year than how we have. Last year from January 9th to March 30th, the Hawks posted a 15-12-4 record, and a goal differential of -7. And yet somehow they put it together and started their playoff run to the Stanley Cup 2 weeks after that stretch ended. This year the Hawks are 18-14-3 and have a goal differential of +8, which is 5th best in the conference (albeit in 3-4 more games). No doubt we've played shitty, but its a long season. Do I think the Hawks are going to go 37-10-4 the rest of the year, which is what the Hawks did around that mediocre stretch last year? Probably not, but I think they will play better at some point this year and will position themselves to be somewhere in the 4-7 range when the season is over. As we know the playoffs are a semi-crapshoot, so just getting in and being considered dangerous is fine by me. As it stands, the only team that I'd be less than certain we could beat is Detroit.
  10. That is terrible. He was joking? I think? If so you could put schools like NW and Indiana in the students division, and then the schools that care passionately about football and probably pay for the majority of their players in the other. But I don't see a 10 team division and a 2 team division being pretty fair.
  11. I dont know if many of the Vikings have any beef with any of the current Bears other than Kreutz and Pat Williams. As much as I want to build up the Vikings and Packers players as gigantic douchebags, they aren't any different than any other NFL team. Maybe they don't have a lot to play for, but I doubt any of them are going out there trying to concuss somebody. They will probably play a little freer out there though, so we need to watch out for that. we also need to stop pretending that the Bears/Vikings or Bears/Packers rivalries are as big as the Vikings/Packers rivalry. Never. Bears and Packers were rivals before Minneapolis was even a viable NFL market. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Packers/Bears seems to be the chief rivalry among Packers fans in the Milwaukee area and points south, and Packers/Vikings seems to be the biggest in most of the rest of Wisconsin. Although the Favre thing in recent years temporarily had Packers fans unite in their hatred for the Vikings.
  12. Last week proved that playing the Patriots doesn't favor the Bears. For the most part....I don't think the Bears were gonna win that game in perfect conditions, but the Bears defense is built on speed, and the conditions clearly affected their ability to get to the right spots and make plays. It doesn't help that Lovie stuck with the cover 2 almost all game long, a defense where it is critical to be at the right spot quickly else risk being burned. So I do worry when I hear 8 inches of snow is coming and there's gonna be a quick, shifty mobile QB on the loose for Minnesota.

  14. With that turf a concussion waiting to happen, I could easily see the Vikings pass rush concussing Cutler and making Todd Collins have to win the game. The O-line really needs to hold up. This is the most overblown whining bullet point from Bears fans from this game. If a guy's head bounces off the ground hard with force he's normally going to get a concussion. See Cutler in NY. Make sure to tell your punter that.
  15. I'm starting to think SF is gonna win the NFC West at 7-9. Look at their schedules SF: Rams Cardinals SEA: Buccaneers Rams STL: 49ers Seahawks So for the 49ers to win the division they need to win their last 2 games against winnable opponents and have the Seahawks lose one of their last 2 games. They would hold tiebreakers over the Rams and Seahawks.
  16. I definitely had no clue Penn State had a good women's volleyball team. That is an impressive streak though. Any close calls or is it like the UConn women where they are never tested?
  17. Do you think any of the coaches would be upset if he ran up to the line without getting the call and ran a QB sneak really quickly for a 1st down and then quickly spiking it? There'd probably still be 10 seconds left after all of that, enough time for 2 shots at the end zone.

  19. That was big.
  20. i hate this game
  21. Every running play is 6 [expletive] yards.
  22. If the Packers win this game, its not nearly as crushing as the Bears losing tomorrow. The Bears can still clinch the division with 2 wins, or a win this week and a Packers loss to the Giants.
  23. Geez, Packers push the PAtriots guys like 5 yards. The Packers are gonna get a TD with no time left arent they
  24. Of course, an INT negated by a flag.
  25. Well that was an awful "drive" for NE. Took like 20 seconds off the clock, only forced 1 GB TO and now are going to give the Packers pretty good field position
