  1. I think Packers fans just want to get in. Most of them believe they are as talented, if not more, as any other NFC team and if given the opportunity, can make a run to the Super Bowl. All you can do at this point is accept the position you are in and figure out a way to just get in. BTW, if Lovie's priorities this Sunday include finishing with a 6-0 division record, and beating GB, he's got his priorities mixed up. It would be cool seeing a 6-0 division record, as I believe I read that no NFC North team has done that since play began.
  2. I believe the after division record (which would be tied at 9-3 in the Bears won and Falcons lost), the next tiebreaker is record vs. common opponents (minimum of 4) Here are the 4 common opponents between the Falcons and Bears: Eagles (Falcons lost, Bears won) Packers (Falcons won, Bears won twice) Carolina (Falcons went 1-1, Bears won) Seattle (Falcons won, Bears lost) That would put the Falcons at 3-2, the Bears 4-1, thus winning the tiebreaker over them. If the Saints won, they'd win the South and win the conference record tiebreaker over the Bears (10-2 vs. 9-3)
  3. It would really suck to see the Bears have so few injuries during the first 15 games, only to suffer a serious injury or two while playing to win a mostly meaningless game. Other than injury concern, playing the starters is a win/win situation. With the bye coming up, I don't want rust becoming a concern, which could happen with 2 whole weeks off instead of just 1. Look at how rusty the defense was in 2005, and how rusty Grossman was. If we actually manage to beat the Packers, it would only give us more confidence going into the playoffs, and would most likely take a dangerous opponent out of the playoff picture. If we started to get blown out, we can pull the starters and I don't think confidence would suffer as most players would say that their heads weren't 100% in the game, being meaningless and all.
  4. The NFC south games are both at noon and will be over by kickoff of the Bears game. Yes, that was what I was implying. Gotcha now.

  6. This is a bad game for Vegas. Isn't there a chance that the Bears could have their position locked up before the game and that the starters could get pulled? Has Lovie commented on if he will do that yet? I think Lovie said he wants to beat the Packers at all times and would be playing to win no matter what. That wasn't the case in 2006.
  7. The Bears still haven't played on Wild Card weekend since 1994. The last 4 Bears playoff appearances have come with byes.
  8. I would think they would play at least a half. But as Al Michaels pointed out, the Bears will know by the time they take the field if they have anything to play for as the Saints and Falcons both play at noon. Not that the Panthers will actually beat the Falcons but yeah.
  9. This is just bizarre. I never expected to clinch the bye without having to beat the Packers. Never considered the possibility for the game to be (almost) meaningless for the Bears. If the Vikings finish this off, its just another in a season of improbable breaks for the Bears. I am not complaining at all, I'm actually in love with it. I now expect Todd Collins to lead the Bears to a victory over the Packers while the Panthers beat the Falcons and Bucs beat the Saints.
  10. The last time Thome was in the NL was with the Dodgers in 09, who traded for him knowing that he could not play in the field. He was nothing but a pinch hitter. Based on his year last year, I doubt he'll accept a similar role for a team not overly likely to contend. I call BS.
  11. A rare Chicago sports sweep today. Bears, Bulls and Hawks all win. Great 3rd for the Hawks.
  12. Man I wish we could replay those Seahawks and Redskins games with our offense playing the way it is now with the adjustments Martz made. I have no doubt we'd have beaten them both but especially that disastrous redskins game. We could already have wrapped up a bye and challenging for HFA. Oh well it was those two games that made us reinvent our offense during the bye week.
  13. Yeah I still like our odds of getting a bye. I think either the Bears beat the Packers or the Eagles lose to the cowboys. I know their 3rd stringer is in there, I just have a feeling.
  14. Absolutely. I think most people knew Noah was very important, but it's hard to quantify just how important he was until you play without him. Completely different looking team over than the Sixers game. Thank God for the easy schedule to bail out of these games. It also doesn't help that Rose has been rather ordinary as a scorer the last 3-4 games. Hes been getting 20-25 ppg but really inefficiently.
  15. wtf? why? Saying I don't see anyway we win was going a bit overboard, but I still don't see it happening. Even though we'll most likely be playing for a bye, the Packers are at home and will be much more desperate for a win. I will say this though...I do think things are clicking more (at least offensively) now than they were in Week 3 when we beat them. Is the game at 12? I wish it was 3 because GB could conceivably clinch a spot before stepping on the field with a Giants and Bucs loss.
  16. And to think people were still calling into the post game show bitching about that one Cutler interception.
  17. No. If the Saints lose tomorrow and next week, Eagles win their next two, and the Bears lose to the Pack, it ends up 1. Falcons 2. Eagles 3. Bears 4. Who cares 5. Pack 6. Giants Forgot about the Saints. I was looking at it as Bears win they are the 2 seed. Bears lose the Packers are in the playoffs as the 6 seed. It's a legit possibility too with the Saints last 2 games. Thanks for clearing that up. If the Giants lose today, and the Eagles lose on Tuesday, the Bears clinch the 2 seed.
  18. Someone will have to confirm this but I believe that if the Packers win this game, the Bears cannot play the Giants in the first round.
  19. Would we play the Giants then? It's crucial that we don't. We can't block them. No doubt the Giants pass rush is by far the best that we could face, but I think our O-line and our gameplan is much much better since we played them. Plus I'd guess the Giants would come into that game overconfident that they are going to sack the [expletive] out of Cutler all game. It's human nature to believe that.
  20. Giving up 34 points sucks, but to the defense's credit, they only actually gave up 27 points. Which is not great but more respectable.
  21. Yes, if the Giants and Eagles lose. But the Eagles don't play until Tuesday now, so we'll have to wait.
  22. Gonna be waiting awhile for that Queens/Eagles game blah. Would be so awesome to clinch a bye with a week left. If the Giants beat the Packers today, I might actually want the Eagles to win this week. Reason being, if the Giants win out, we actually need the Eagles to win one of their last 2 to get a bye. And I think its more likely the Eagles win this week than next week against Dallas. How do you figure? The Giants already have 5 losses. If we win next week, we get the #2 seed, regardless of other games. Unless you're assuming we lose to GB? Dammit I'm a huge freaking moron. I don't know why I forgot about that.

  24. Gonna find some good Jets boards. They always implode when their team sucks.
  25. He doesn't read that right and we lose. Instead we win!!! What an entertaining game!!!
