  1. Until they bolt Cleveland at their first opportunity again.
  2. This totally is another Bartman. Because of the initial reaction, the media will for years talk about how we all hate Cutler because we all think he quit on the team. Just like to this day people talk about how Cubs fans will never forgive Bartman for that fateful night, when 99% of us could care less about Bartman
  3. You would have to think that most of that is because a lot of people bought season tickets to rally around the team (I don't know if this is true or not, I don't care enough to look.) and at this point they own the tickets and have said [expletive] it. Plus, this team is becoming historically bad so there is a little intrigue. I would think that attendance would plummet next year. I'm pretty sure that season ticket holders had to re-up before LeBron announced where he would go which, if true, would obviously be a big factor in the attendance figures this year. Yup, that's correct. To their credit from what I've heard they've attended the games (meaning no paper sellouts, they are actually going to the games) and the crowds have been really vocal. But I don't think they can sustain that attendance with such a terrible unwatchable team in an economically depressed market. The year before LeBron got there, they averaged 11,000 a game.
  4. I actually kind of agree. The fact that the Cavs had a hometown superstar and the kind of once a generation player and he didn't even stay, makes me wonder if Cleveland is ever going to be able to compile enough talent to win a championship. Furthermore, the Cavs had this player and a 60 win team, and they couldnt recruit any stars to sign with Cleveland as a FA. It would have been like a guaranteed championship if they could have added a player like Bosh but he wanted no part of Cleveland. The only way they could compete for a title again is to build an OKC roster (which is probably the only way OKC could have gotten a legitimate contender) where they have one megastar, one superstar and several other good players all drafted in a 3-5 year span and meshes together quickly. Otherwise, they are just going to make high draft picks and have them leave as soon as they have a chance. I respect the Cleveland fans, and they certainly deserve an NBA team, but I'm not sure if its gonna work out.
  5. annnnnd they lost again. Getting closer though! 22 losses in a row, 1 off the single season record (the Cavs back in the early 80's lost 24 in a row over 2 seasons). I am enjoying the fact that the Cavs are 1-32 over their last 33 games, and the 1 win in that span is against the Knicks.
  6. lol did anyone see Rich Rodriguez interviewing Brady Hoke about Michigan's recruiting class? All sorts of awkward... http://www.freep.com/article/20110202/SPORTS06/110202039/With-video-Rich-Rodriguez-interviews-Brady-Hoke-CBS-show
  7. 'My girlfriend is a huge Bengals fan, hates the Steelers with a passion as most Bengals fans do, and has also always hated Jay Cutler because of his "attitude" in interviews. I just asked her who she thinks is a better person, Jay Cutler or Ben Rothlisburger and she [expletive] said Ben. I reminded her that Ben is a rapist, and she said 'well yeah but he's probably a better person'. How? When has Jay done anything close to raping someone? Ugh
  8. I feel like everytime we play Columbus, the score is like 6-4
  9. Geez, sometimes its so hard to watch that 3rd defensive pairing out there allow a crappy opponent to spend 2-3 minutes straight in their zone without the Hawks getting a stick on it. And then they do take control and immediately Leddy throws a lazy pass that goes right back to the Blue Jackets without leaving the zone.
  10. Coincidentally, more often than not, Turco is starting when that happens.
  11. Pretty much an uninspired season for the Hawks.
  12. That's not true. I believe Charlottes pick was traded away last year and you can't trade your first round pick 2 years in a row (the Isiah Thomas rule) so the earliest that Charlotte pick can come to us is the 2012 draft. The reasoning above might nit be 100% accurate but I'm about 95% sure that we can't have Charlottes first rounder this year under any circumstances. Edit: from NBAdraft.net:
  13. classy guy! Classy or stupid?
  14. It's an Ex-Sox and Ex-Cub list. I know, I was just teasing. Technically he is an ex-chicagoan that plays for NY :) Blue Islander IIRC But he went to UIC. I say that qualifies

  16. Agreed. They are pretty reliable in that they have a blog for just about every professional and major college program and every one is updated at least a couple of times a week and has a decent fan following so that you can get a decent pulse on what a fan base is thinking/feeling on a given day. Edit: And yes, today's BCB post about which baseball cities would be affected by today's blizzard if there was randomly baseball played on February 1st says all you need to know about that site.
  17. Wow really? That place just got a lot more legit. Thats a bold career move. ESPN for SB Nation. Next thing you know, Buster Olney will leave for Bleacher Report.
  18. Curtis Granderson
  19. I've seen 3 (Black Swan, Social Network and The Kids are Alright) and that's probably my best number in years.
  20. Something has to give when Washington visits Cleveland in a couple of weeks.
  21. Hard to believe a majority (over 50%) of their fans thought they were playoff bound this year, and a smaller number thought they had a chance to win the division. On of their newspaper guys predicted 50 wins for the Cavs this year. Yeah...no.
  22. Yes, because the Chicago media is filled with homers. You're finally catching on. It's just annoying because I want one of them to ask him about it just to see what he says is causing his shooting slump. I love Derrick Rose so much my insides hurt when I think about him. I want to to never miss a shot and score 50 points with 15 assists every night. It pains me when he is struggling with his shot like this. 99% of what you're complaining about every game can be explained by injury/illness/fatigue, no transition game w/o Noah leading to easy baskets, and the offensive black holes at SG and C (more SG than C) that causes Ds to collapse on him. The other 1% of it is Rose losing some of his midrange game by expanding other areas (3s, FTs, defense). And yet we're still winning. Watch if we get JR or Mayo or someone like that after Noah gets back. Rose's FGAs will go down by quite a bit, his per shot efficiency will jump up, and they'll be ready to contend. 99-1? More like 70-30. Rose doesn't have Noah for the transition game but Rose didn't have someone like Boozer to take all the attention off of him last year either. The bottom line is last year Rose led all point guards in midrange FG% and this year its down almost 7%. It's partially compensated by his big increase in 3pt attempts and % but its caused his FG% to go down 5% this year. And of course he makes 4 mid range jumpers in a row as I type this up.
  23. Yes, because the Chicago media is filled with homers. You're finally catching on. Yes, they are. They're some of the folks carrying pitchforks trying to rail Jay Cutler out of town, but alas, they aren't the greatest media in the world (Green Bay). I know this is going back to an argument that was had the week during the NFC title game, but the Chicago media is extremely bipolar. They can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Rose does and says all the right things, and can do no wrong in the eyes of the media. Jay Cutler is guarded and stand offish, so the media is just waiting for him to slip up so they can tear him apart.

  25. whoops, I forgot that sponge can't handle reading about any struggles from Derrick Rose without blowing it wildly out of proportion.
