  1. I didnt even think about the fact that the Cubs might be playing right now. Looks like the Cubs didn't think they were playing either. Or at least Shota
  2. Depressing article about the falloff of the 2016 Cubs: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-end-of-the-2016-cubs-is-coming/
  3. Much much much worse. Caruso made everyone better defensively. I was ok with trading him but was expecting much different in return.
  4. I think if the Bulls were planning on tearing it apart they would have gotten one of the 10,000 first round picks the Thunder have and not a guy 1 year away from RFA. They made this trade because they think it makes the team better (along with whatever other plans they have for the offseason). Not a fan of the trade at all but it pretty much signals that they plan on trying to win. Also one of the things that makes me roll my eyes about this trade is the fact that Giddey is actually a worse 3 point shooter and at less volume than Caruso. Not the most important consideration but this makes the Bulls a worse 3 Point shooting team for a team that has seemingly tried to avoid the modern NBA style of basketball. hopefully other offseason moves address this issue but I’m not holding my breath.
  5. Even my friend who is a Boston sports fan who tries to rile me up all the time by opposing every argument I make about my teams was like 'why the horsefeathers would they do that trade?'
  6. That sucks. His numbers looked solid in AAA but I'm assuming the underlying stuff wasn't as good as it seemed given not calling him up despite the Cubs bullpen issues. Realize he wasn't on the 40 but I'm sure they could have found a way to get him on it if they thought he could help.
  7. On a related note, its spelled "moises ballesteros"
  8. When you’re a good team you expect to find a way out of those situations. When you’re the 2024 Cubs you sadly expect the game to be blown
  9. Damn, has Kane really slipped that far? I don’t watch a lot of Bundesliga. I know Foden and Saka have had incredible years but didn’t think they were quite on his tier. Kane might have been overrated at his peak though.
  10. 2-9 in our last 11 series, lets go! lmao
  11. Go ahead run in scoring position with 2 outs and their 3 hitter up
  12. 6-3, 2 outs in the 8th inning, Cubs lose 6-1, 2 outs in the 8th inning….
  13. Hilarious. So happy to be on the other side of this now where it doesn’t bother me
  14. Was gonna be so annoyed if we failed to score there again
  15. This is why a team with ridiculously good SP is 4 games under .500. That and the pen. Not a ton of variance between this team being 10 games over .500 vs 4 games under TBH
  16. I’m glad you made this thread because I was gonna pick some stupid funny title and couldn’t think of anything good. Best I had was Yan’t Here Anymore
  17. *checks the score for the first time tonight* Yeah no I'm not falling for that horsefeathers again. Good luck and godspeed
  18. You all might be talking about it in the game thread but I’m ignoring the Cubs tonight. Big enough name to get his own thread IMO. If he’s not the GOAT, he’s on the very very short list of greatest players ever
  19. One thing weird about Wesneski is that he was such a disaster vs. LHB last year with a .986 OPS against in 159 PA. This year in 69 PA his OPS against vs. LHB is down to .515. On the downside his numbers against RHB have gone up from .618 to .751.
  20. Assad is more valuable to us long term as a starter and he's excelling in that role. This year isn't completely toast but its horsefeathered enough that I'm more interested in how these pieces can fit for the future rather than ripping people out of roles they are excelling in so that they can plug holes our GM neglected in the offseason.
  21. Seriously what is he even going for there? Did he lose a bet?
  22. Got it. To not even be considering it would be wild
