  2. Well this is all very exciting. Biggest move of the offseason.
  3. Exactly. This is the main problem I've had with this offseason. This is free talent. They don't have to trade players for him, or waste a draft pick, or use up international signing allotment. If the Cubs are serious about upgrading the talent/assets in the organization, moves like this should be a no brainer if you have money to spend. That's what causes me to wonder if the Cubs have all that much money to spend. Obviously they have some since they offered him 6/40, but overall I don't get the feeling that the Cubs are giving Theo all that much to spend this offseason, and that sucks.
  4. Are all the perfect players free agents next year, then? This. I know we all want to give Theo and Co. our full support and give him the benefit of the doubt, but several times this offseason we've discussed our desire for a FA and then point out their flaws when they don't sign with the Cubs. Eventually there's no one left. While I'm disappointed that we haven't really improved our major league ready talent this offseason (besides Rizzo), I still fully believe in the plan even if it isn't run exactly the way I want it to.
  5. As long as we beat Sacramento and clinch Thibs a spot in the All Star game, I am fine with that.
  6. I miss the old days when conferences were regional and made sense. Now the Big East stretches to freaking Boise, the SEC to Missouri and now a conference primarily based in the rockies region is going to merge with a primarily southeastern based conference.
  7. On a slightly different note, Cespedes and his people have to be extremely confident about this abilities to actually desire lesser years.
  8. Why is Kane lazy again? I never got that impression from him. I just remembered that I had a dream last night that I was watching the Hawks and Blues play and it was 4-4 late in the 3rd and Q was so desperate to gain 2 points on St Louis that he pulled Crawford to go 6-on-5 and eventually Keith made a lazy pass that was intercepted for an easy breakaway goal. This damn team is even tormenting me in my dreams.
  9. Yeah expectations have really tumbled this offseason. I think it's becoming clear that those stories we read last year about spending being limited for the next year or two while Tom climbs out of debt from the sale might have been true. I know some won't agree and point out examples to disprove that but it certainly seems like that on the surface as we've had several ways to increase the overall talent in the organization with resources made available from players coming off the books and were unable to pull the trigger. We may still get Soler and the latest reports are pretty good but there were reports that the Cubs were pushing hard for Cespedes as well an in the end it didn't appear to be the case.
  10. I put him in that list because he just signed an extension so I'm not sure he would be able to get us as much as I would hope a player of his value would give. I didn't want to throw him in the 4th list because if we cannot get a good value for him I do not want to trade him. Maybe the 2nd list might have been better. Guess I just have an emotional attachment to Sharpie. He's so dreamy good.
  11. Guys I'd prefer not to trade under any circumstances: Toews, Kane, Sharp, Leddy Guys I'd rather not trade but could be talked into: Seabrook, Hossa Guys I would be ok with trading because I think we can get a good value from: Bolland, Stalberg, Keith, Mayers Guys who I'd be ok with trading but may not get a great return for: Hjalmarsson, Frolik, Brunette, Shaw, Montador, Bickell, Kruger Everyone else (on NHL roster) is dead to me.
  12. Plus not trading for LMA gives us Thomas which gives us the Bobcats pick.
  13. Good, if Theo's game is all about acquiring talent, going hard after Soler is a no brainer. It's a free top 10 draft pick. (not free in terms of money but free in terms of getting a 1st round talent without wasting a draft spot)
  14. I'd still rather have Tracy Mc- I mean Rose
  15. Gotta love getting a player open for a 3 by forearming the defender to the ground.
  16. 11-4....
  17. Ugh Michigan is blowing it.
  18. So glad he gutted out those 22 minutes in that important NO game.
  19. Make that 11 offensive rebounds
  20. yeah, they're a real juggernaut At rebounding apparently since they have and 9 offensive rebounds vs. 1 for UM
  21. I believe what I said was "Illinois can't miss and will surely continue to not miss for the rest of the game"
  22. jeez enough offensive rebounds Illinois?
  23. I feel like michigan has been outplaying the illini but they keep hitting enough shots to stay within a close margin. Illini shooting 48% in the half. If they can sustain that they have a good chance, assuming Michigan 56% comes back to earth.
  24. why is spear censored? also sulley should stop being racist I couldn't help but laugh out loud at this
