    I either want to aim for 70 wins this year or clinch the number 1 pick. But I'm not really willing to watch the Cubs start sucking again so 70 wins it is. Just need to go 35-40 the rest of the year. Currently on pace for 65-97. But as I said at the top of the thread we've played at an 81-81 pace over the last 40 games.

Maybe he could control it but that still doesn't mean he wants to completely immerse himself in that situation just like I'm sure most recovering alcoholics dont want to be around people drinking and enjoying alcohol all day. Ok social anxiety is not at all similar to alcoholism but still.

    If the Cubs can win this, they will be 20-20 since May 27th, which was the date they snapped their 12 game losing streak. .500 ball for a quarter of the season is fairly respectable for this bunch.

    Chris Sheridan is saying that he's hearing the Bulls will match Asik. In fact he says every RFA offer sheet signed will be matched except Landry Fields.

    maybe it wasn't during the ncaa tournament, but by draft time rose was definitely the consensus #1. No it wasn't. I remember on draft night, the front page of ESPN.com had a Bulls logo with a picture of Rose and Beasley in the background. I seem to remember it being 95% Rose 5% Beasley on draft night. ESPN might have put that up there but if anything they were trying to bring some drama. Immediately after winning the lottery it was maybe 55% Rose but as stories came out about the Rose and Beasley workouts with the Bulls, more and more people were convinced or tipped off that Rose was their man. I recall having absolutely no doubt who the Bulls were picking as it was being announced.

    I think there are too many pitchers selected to the team. Just looking over the NL Roster, there will be 5 pitchers who I believe are available to play that won't, including 2 of them (Miley and Street) that are the only representatives of their team. The AL will have 3 pitchers not pitch with 2 of them (F. Hernandez and Chris Perez) being the only representatives of their team

    The good news is that LaHair just barely is guaranteed an AB as he's 6 spots away in the batting order with 6 outs to go. If Casto doesn't bat 2nd next inning, he's not gonna hit in the game. Will be interesting to see if TRL keeps Furcal all game just to piss everyone off.

    LaHair in at 1st....FURCAL STILL IN THE GAME. How often does an All-Star starter complete 7 innings? With Butler in the game, Furcal is the only person who started the game to still be in, and has been the only position player starter in the game for the last inning and a half.

    My guess is LaHair comes in during the bottom of the 7th but I could also see him being one of the players LaRussa keeps in case of extra innings (in an 8-0 game) If Castro doesn't bat for Furcal in the 7th or 8th our chances of seeing a Cub take an AB are low.

    Castro, LaHair and Bourn are the only 3 position players to not appear for the NL. Strange because 1B, SS and 2B are the 3 positions with only 1 backup on the team. Mauer and Andrus are the only AL position players to not appear. They are both at positions that have multiple backups. LaHair should have a chance to bat here as the 1B batting spot is due up, but he'd have to somehow replace Freese, a Cardinal who hasnt had an AB yet, so I wouldnt hold your breath.

    LMAO Furcal stays in the game, still no Cubs. Furcal is the only position player starter still in the game. Rafael Furcal... surprisingly its the Cardinal staying in the game too long with the Cub player as his only backup.

    Cubs, Phillies, Padres, Diamondbacks and Marlins are the only teams not represented in the game yet. Cubs have 2 players, while the Padres, Phillies and DBacks have 1 player and Marlins 0 Mariners, A's, Twins and Royals are the AL teams to be represented. I believe they all have 1 player too. So Cubs are only team with multiple All Stars to not make an appearance in the game through 6 innings. Yes I am taking this way too far, but its TLR involved.

    Nevermind.... So if the NL goes 1-2-3 the rest of the game, Castro is still guarnateed an AB if he hits 9th. Not sure why the worst NL Starter should go 7 innings but its LaRussa Castro, LaHair and Michael Bourn are the only 3 position players to not appear for the NL yet. Strangely enough, SS, 1B and 2B are the only 3 positions with 1 backup on the team.

    8 runs is the largest lead the NL has ever had in the All Star game

    Posey and Furcal are the only starters that are still in the game. Furcal has had 3 AB and is due to lead off next inning so you gotta think Castro takes that AB but you never know with LaRussa. He might try to fit Lance Lynn at SS.
