  1. Turner backtracked:
  2. Philly it is. I predict 5 games
  3. Makes me feel better that we couldnt have traded down and still got him.
  4. couldnt we have traded down and make this pick? I'm perplexed and slightly disappointed
  5. wtf? Couldnt have traded down for that??
  6. Has anyone else discovered this iPhone app yet? It's pretty cool and free. Here's how they describe it: It's basically a free MLB Network on your iPhone. I've been watching it on and off today and think its awesome for a free app.
  7. Not that this has much to do with his potential in the NFL but everytime I hear an interview with RG3, I am impressed with his charisma. Very confident but not in a stuck-up way. He seems like a geniunely nice guy but assertive at the same time.
  8. Figured it was time to start this up....last couple of posts from the playoff thread to start off with: You are probably right. Goalies are like late relievers, they often go from bad to awesome (Smith) or really good to terrible (Mason). People point out Howard from the Wings who became an all star after having a bad sophmore season. That being said, I doubt they'll have a lot of patience with Crawford once the season starts. I still don't get why they extended Emery though if that (staying with Crawford) is the plan. Did people just ignore the freaking rest of the team? It wasn't the goalie. This team suffered from a severe downgrade of productivity and effectiveness at every single position, with the exception of Hossa, and he missed the playoffs. The obsession with goalie is not addressing the real issues. Is Crawford a stanley cup goalie? If Niemi can be, so can he. Is Marc Andre Fleury a stanley cup goalie? He just got his ass handed to him. And that's happened a lot. The Blackhawks didn't lose to Phoenix because of their goalie, they lost because they couldn't score goals. They lost because their best offensive player ended the playoffs with 4 GD points. They lost because they are completely incompetent on the PP. Goalies come and go. As soon as one plays well enough to get recognition and a contract he's no longer a standout. The Blackhawks need to shake up their core, which is either incredibly overrated or is still living off the accolades of 2 years ago. If they can get somebody to trade for Sharp, I'd like that. If they can get Buffalo to overpay for their hometown boy Kane, fine by me. If they can upgrade over Crawford, but don't do something stupid and acquire Luongo or some other reputation goalie with a big price tag. I'd rather go the gambling route on that position and go with cheap retreads or a kid out there. I'd be fine if they opened the season with Crawford, assuming they spend the offseason addressing the real needs. The rest of the entire team. The 'Hawks have the personnel to run a PP. Just last season their PP was top 10 if not higher (iirc they were 4th but not sure) That's a coaching issue and should be easy to fix. I'm ok with trading Sharp though I'm not sure how that helps now. The "Hawks have good players in the pipeline (Saad, McNeil, Denault, Morin, Pirri) so if they could get a good defenseman or if they use Sharp's salary toward Suter then maybe. Buffalo doesn't have anybody that's worth Kane.
  9. They asked Tim Legler and some other NBA dude I've never seen before who the Knicks should prefer to play in the 1st round, and both of them said the Heat.
  10. Why did they have to win so badly? I get avoiding the Heat but how much do their odds really increase by playing Indiana? Does anyone really expect them to compete in their series? I guess they have some decent role players so this isn't like that season where Washington went from best record in the East at the ASB to a .500 team in the 7th seed after losing arenas (when that meant something) and butler (all star year). But it's not that much better either. Indiana couldn't be more thrilled with the draw they are getting, except maybe having to face Miami instead of Chicago in the 2nd round.
  11. Maybe he didn't want to sign a 1 year deal with a team that probably wasn't going to the playoffs? Yeah and I think people might sometimes forget that its possible some of these FAs didnt want to waste 1-3 years playing for a rebuilding team. If the money was right most would, but I dont see the Cubs overpaying to make a 60 win team a 65 win team.
  12. Or is it like that one week where Theriot hit like 5 HRs and then hit 1-2 the rest of the year?
  13. lol the 76ers are 14-21 in their last 35 games, over half the season, and they feel the need to be talking trash? Whatever, I don't mind the slighting of the Bulls when compared to the Heat. If I was a playoff team I'd probably prefer to play the Bulls too just because the Heat's star power is daunting, and the Bulls have been banged up all season, especially Rose. Plus from Philly's perspective, they got mostly blown away by Miami in last year's first round and have had success against the Bulls the last 2 seasons. So yeah despite understanding their preference, I guess I don't get why Turner felt the need to publically diss the Bulls.
  14. Of course they did once lose a World Series on a blown call, so I can't blame those yokels for being upset.
  15. Do you mean the Target ad? I think the Target logo is where the Under Armor logo used to be. Nah. The Under Armor is still there. There used to be nothing where they put the Target logo. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_QdgXdSugoC4/S9zeEQ1PIrI/AAAAAAAAAA0/CXA22alNq_A/s1600/wrigley+field.jpg There is also something on the door in left center. "Revis" or "Bevis" or something. I finally went to a Cubs game last night and saw what you were talking about. The ad is for Tervis Tumblers, those weird insulated cups that keep drinks warm or cold. http://www.tervis.com/
  16. Alright, so the the Bulls clinch the 1 seed. Only thing left to play for in these last 2 games is finishing ahead of San Antonio and OKC for home court throughout the playoffs. The Bulls control their destiny in both. Bulls magic number to finish ahead of OKC is 1, and the magic number for SA is 2 thanks to the Bulls owning the tiebreaker.
  17. raw and warpticon are the only 2 black NSBBers that I can think of off the top of my head.
  18. I don't think I like Marmol anymore.
  19. I dunno, I remember that as late as March of the season the Hawks won the Cup people were railing on Bowman for not getting a goalie at the deadline. It was seen as the one major flaw the Hawks had. Niemi was a huge question mark, and ended up have a pretty good postseason. His numbers that season (.914 SV%, 2.25 GAA) are pretty similar to Crawford's last season (.917 SV%, 2.30 GAA). Obviously Crawford was terrible this year for the most of the season, but I don't think the Hawks are ready to decide that this year's performance is more legit than last year's, especially because they just signed him to an extension last summer. The more I think about it the more I am convinced that the Hawks won't address goaltending unless its brining in a backup with high upside or something. I feel that its pretty likely Crawford will be between the pipes to start next year.
  20. I honestly think that the Hawks will not address goaltending this offseason unless its someone to replace Emery with upside in case Crawford fails again. I think the Hawks will bank on Crawford bounching back to how he was last year and will want to address goalie at the deadline if Craw sucks again.
  21. Classy Coyotes fans (yes for real) on Twitter:
  22. You should be a hockey analyst with groundbreaking thoughts like that. Are you sure you aren't already one?
  23. the TV networks gotta love a Nashville (37th largest metro) vs. Phoenix (not traditional hockey market) and St. Louis (19th largest metro) vs. Los Angeles (2nd largest metro, but if this is your best draw of the 4 WC teams that's depressing) The East is going to get all the attention, especially if the Rangers advance Just think that one of those 4 teams is going to play in the SC Finals
