  1. Well your mind was wrong because he made it to 3rd.
  2. Does Koyie Hill have any hitting ability at all? How about plate discipline? They were trying to pitch around him and he swung at 4 straight pitches, all of them balls and a couple way outside. It looked like he was closing his eyes and swinging, begging for something good to happen.
  3. Can Barney get charged with earned runs? This sucks...we already scored our run for the game.
  4. cue AramisFan's "this only happens to the Cubs" banter
  5. That had to have been a joke. I mean who in their right mind could vote for Carlos Boozer as one of the 10 best defenders in the NBA?
  6. towel drill
  7. Hard not to love Todd Walker. The only thing bad about him is that he indirectly led to Kevin Gregg.
  8. In the event of a tie, the winner of last year's cup retains. Cool...one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. At least use run differential or something.
  9. So wait I saw a picture in the Red Eye with the White Sox holding the BP Cup. The BP Cup is the most pointless thing ever but I am wondering what bizarre rules allow them to award the trophy with only half the games played. BTW the Cubs are now 3-9-4 in season series against the White Sox since interleague play started.
  10. 6 game losing streak and Kerry Wood retires, welcome home!
  11. Complaining to people from Chicago after the injury filled year we just had is not going to get you any pity.
  12. Not that he expected to come through everytime but after all I've read about Paul being super clutch he looked anything but in the last 2 minutes. A should have been turnover, an actual turnover a wild circus shot that actually went backwards and a missed runner off the front rim were 4 of the last 5 clippers possessions by Paul (the 5th was Paul drawing a foul and hitting 2 FTs) Oh well I was hoping at least one of these 2 west series would turn out to be interesting.
  13. Nice little 6-18 record in our last 24 games against the White Sox.
  14. I have nothing but Rizzo to look forward to until September ugh. Sports hibernation.
  15. Yes. The reason Maddux has his number retired by the Cubs is because Fergie wore that number too and given the fact that Maddux was one of the top 10 pitchers ever and had recently played for the Cubs it would have been weird to retire Fergies number and not acknowledge Maddux as well. At least that's my theory.
  16. We're to get a phenom pitcher that teases us with potential before suffering a series of injuries that leads to him being out of baseball by his mid-20s? Tank away!
  17. I'm starting to think that Dempster is not going to get a win all year, however meaningless it is. Perfect game anyone?
  18. That ends a 53-17 and 21-0 run for SA.
  19. I'll guess... Red Sox - Phillies Rangers - Rockies Astros - Diamondbacks Blue Jays - Pirates And then by process of default you are stuck with Braves - Tigers and Mariners - Padres. None of those matchups make much sense.
  20. That's what stark indicated...they are probably going to do a rivalry week where everyone matches up with their natural rivals and do the 2 and 2 thing. Obviously there are some teams that lack natural rivals so they will be screwed. Not sure if it will actually be Mariners and Padres since they are so far apart, but I can't think of any other team except maybe Colorado who they could play that's closer (and I'm pretty sure Denver is still just as far away as SD) You can't really do the rivalry week thing because you have to spread everybody's IL games over the entire season. In the Stark article linked above he says that they do actually plan on doing that. But only for about a week instead of 2-3 weeks. It seemed a little fishy when I read it but apparently they have a way to pull it off. There is roughly 30 weeks in a MLB season and lets say 2 series in a week. So if only 2 teams played each other at once for a 3 game series, that accounts for 12 games for each team right? The plan is to play 20 so there will be an opportunity for everyone to play interleague games at the same time.
  21. 3 of the 4 losses on this losing streak have been by 1 run. ugh Overall, exactly half of our losses this year have been by 2 runs or less (12 out of 24 losses)
  22. Boo...so much for that hot streak and the fight to get to .500. We are now at the low water mark for the season at 9 games under .500 (15-24).
  23. I'm not sure who else is on the bench but Reed Johnson against a righty wouldn't be my first choice
  24. please let that become famous in Cubs-Sox lore
