  1. Just think, the Orioles could have swept this series if they didn't have Jim Johnson. Raul Ibanez has entered Yankee lore tonight.
  2. You realize they built a new Busch Stadium recently right?
  3. All I know is that he was one of a couple of prospects the Padres sent to STL for the corpse of Jim Edmonds
  4. Jim Joyce just shouldnt be a 1st base ump.
  5. SERIOUSLY WHO THE [expletive] IS PETE KOZMA
  6. When you think about how many prospects they missed out on by not trading their good players, not to mention the opportunities to test out scrapheap players with minute upside, you almost feel sorry for them. You are so close to being on my ignore list. and I normally like you
  7. Passssss Is that even a rumor, or did someone just ask Plax if he wanted to play in Chicago?
  8. Was looking at the DVOA and was surprised to see the Bears offense at 17th in the league. Despite the struggles at times, I thought it'd be better than that because I don't remember seeing an offense quite this good in years. Then I looked at their rankings each year into the 90s and l learned that the Bears haven't ranked higher than 17th in the league in offensive efficiency since 1995. Here is their annual ranking the last 17 seasons: 12: 17 11: 30 10: 28 09: 28 08: 22 07: 30 06: 20 05: 28 04: 32 03: 30 02: 28 01: 18 00: 23 99: 18 98: 17 97: 25 96: 18 95: 3
  9. I don't get where the Eagles apologist comes up with that. Philly is lucky to be 3-2 and he says "they don't deserve better than 3-2." The Bears are a bit unsteady right now, but I have absolutely no doubt they are better than the Eagles, not to mention the rest of the always overrated NFC East. http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings/_/year/2012/week/6 That Yahoo dude knows that even if the defense didn't score the Bears would have won 27-3 right?
  10. lol, he set himself up for failure when he called this team the best Jets team he's had in the preseason. If its the best team and they are playing like crap, whose fault is it?
  11. We don't necessarily need that for him to succeed in the #2 role. Marshall gives you both of those. With a lot of the defense's focus on Cutler, someone who can run good routes and catch what is thrown to him can gave Cutler a solid 2nd option. Plus Cutler is still fairly comfortable with Bennett, as they have been the last few seasons.
  12. No its not that crazy. I'm not sure they actually do that, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least considering the somewhat strong play, and the weak schedule. Plus you factor in Luck probably improving as the season progresses. Looking at the AFC, the teams that I think have no chance at the playoffs are Cleveland, Kansas City, Tennessee and Jacksonville. That leaves 9 teams to fight for 3 spots (assuming NE, BAL, HOU are locks). Those 9 teams are SD (3-2), CIN (3-2), PIT (2-2), IND (2-2), NYJ (2-3), BUF (2-3), MIA (2-3), DEN (2-3) and OAK (1-3). What a pack of mediocre to bad teams. I guess with a gun to my head I'd go SD (west), DEN and PIT. And the thing is, I don't like any of those 3 teams that much...they just aren't that good.
  13. Exactly. And its not like Jeffery is going to miss the season. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Bennett as the number 2 receiver against the Lions, Panthers and Titans. And that's if Jeffery misses an entire month. Bennett has the ability to be a decent #2 receiver and was paid like one by the Bears just last year. If you are counting the RBs, the #2 receiver is maybe the 4th most important target for Cutler (behind Marshall, Forte and Bush).
  14. Gotta be better options out there than digging up those corpses. I don't see the need to pick up a high level WR unless Bennetts injury is worse than we know about. Otherwise, you just move everyone up one spot and pick up a guy to be the 5th or 6th WR. Didn't we like one of the WRs in the preseason that didn't make the cut? I cant remember. Anyways... Marshall - Bennett - Hester - Sanzenbacher - Weems - Scrub pickup
  15. LMAO am I seeing this correctly? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bTsE338K5Q&feature=player_embedded After Briggs scores his pick 6, multiple Bears meet him in the end zone to celebrate, and Briggs goes over and taps #80 on the Jags, Mike Thomas - the guy chasing Briggs down, on the helmet and then brings him into the circle of celebrating Bears. The funny thing is that Thomas doesn't seem to resist or get upset about it. I'm trying to see if any of those Bears have a connection to him, and the only thing I can think of is that Thomas went to Arizona, the alma mater of Briggs, but this is his 4th year, so while he might have made a connection with him as an alum of Arizona, I'm not sure that connection means much to this. Even if there was a legitimate connection, you would think it would be really unacceptable to join in on your opponents TD celebration. Anyways, hilarious either way. 16. Thankfully there's 15 days until the next game. He'll probably miss that Lions game, and maybe the game after that, but the good news is that Earl Bennett should absolutely be back in the lineup after the bye.
  17. Did anyone see this by Terry Bradshaw on Fox's pregame show? wtf? Grow up? What the heck is Cutler doing that's not mature? Sorry he's not a media suckup and doesn't really open himself up to the public, but taking shots at him like that is just odd. Oh poor Terry got an interview request turned down (presumably) and now wants to act like an interview with him is the biggest honor you can get in the NFL. Sorry but I can't stand the people who hate on Cutler because he refuses to reform into the stereotypical NFL personality.
  18. It will almost certainly be his swan song with the Bears. I wouldn't put it past another team to pick him up thinking that after another offseason of healing his knee will be better, or worst case scenario can provide leadership to a younger defense or something. And as far as observing his slowness, this was the first game I noticed it throughout the game as opposed to catching it a couple of individual plays a game. It was hard to miss.
  19. That's odd that they play 5 of their 6 division games within the last 6 games of the year.
  20. Lot of ex-Cubs (major and minor leaguers) on these playoff teams. Orioles: Ryan Flaherty Yankees: Clay Rapada Casey McGehee (not on ALDS roster, consideration for ALCS) David Aardsma (ineligable for postseason roster) Rangers: (technically on the Rangers postseason roster) Ryan Dempster Geovany Soto Oakland A's: Josh Donaldson Tigers: Al Albuquerque Reds: Sean Marshall Nationals: Tom Gorzelanny Chad Tracy Mark DeRosa (didnt make NLDS roster. Supposedly a good chance to make NLCS roster) Giants: Ryan Theriot Angel Pagan Braves: (again technically) Paul Maholm Jeff Baker Reed Johnson
  21. I still can't figure out why this is such a big deal to people. You don't see why a week's worth of dedicated prime time national media coverage on a campus is a big deal to fans of that college? No. That's quite odd.
  22. LMAO. I forgot I posted that.
