  1. Dude, Lovie is gone, he can't force you to say that anymore!
  2. How can that possibly be? Other than Chip Kelly and Lovie Smith what candidates that other teams have interviewed have not been approached and/or given interviews by the Bears?
  3. Well I was wrong. I guess they are going to go with unbalanced scheduling within the division. Reportedly, the schedule will involve 5 games against two divisional opponents (10 games), 4 games against the other two divisional opponents (8 games) and 3 games against the other 10 conference teams (30 games). Ok then...hope we get 5 games against Columbus
  4. I wonder where the Lakers would be if they had hired Phil instead of D'Antoni.
  5. and UM lost by even less than ND...we're so close to a title i can just taste it Do you remember what a title feels like? I don't mean a half a title, I mean like the whole thing. Since the Rose Bowl is the equivalent of a national title to UM, maybe you do. And all it took for Nebraska to get that half title was a illegal kicked pass, Tom Osbourne retiring and then crying that his team deserved the national title.
  6. Good read but it starts out by saying that the rest of the league is laughing at the Bears for not interviewing Chip Kelly (wasn't going to leave Oregon anyways) and Jon Gruden (who pretty much said he wanted to stay at ESPN and no teams that we know of have contacted him)
  7. Hossa is neither young nor a superstar. Keith is not really a superstar either....and turns 30 this offseason. Oh well
  8. He's also not Russian. See I'm one of those bandwagon fans! Yeah that was stupid
  9. I suppose we might as well try to convert him to a Hawks fan. Benefits of choosing the Chicago Blackhawks: -Talented team with a good amount of young superstar players (Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith) -Recent championship team (you don't have to take too much crap about futility....don't get me wrong the Hawks are the losingest team of the O6 and spent 20 years as a farm team to our archrivals, but having a recent cup in hand squashes a lot of that trashtalk) -Original 6 team...tradition, rabid core of fans, respect amongst hockey fans -Coach has a moustache -Largest arena in the NHL, packed every night, electric atmosphere -Will be on TV lots over the coming years -Great if your a fan of ex-Scottish indie rock bands (the Fratellis' Chelsea Dagger is played after every goal, and while every team has a post-goal song and some even use Chelsea Dagger, its taken on a life of its own in Chicago, ask the Canucks) -Team has a lot of personality overall whether you like drunken fratboys (Kaner), clean shaven super-captains (Toews), russian offensive skill players (Hossa), goons (Carcillo and Mayers), or toothless defensive players (Keith) -Plays a fairly offensive friendly style a majority of the time. Can score goals with the best of them, especially on the first 2 lines -Part of one of the best rivalries in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings. Also have a decent rivalry with the St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks, although the Canucks rivalry is not a traditional rivalry and is based on playing in the playoffs 3 times in the last 4 years, and Roberto Luongo being a sissy boy who collapses in big games and is forever haunted by Chelsea Dagger Cons: -As mentioned above, the team has gone through quite a bit of futility in its past. Had a terrible ownership situation that led to their best longtime players getting dealt and/or alienated, no home games on TV regardless of whether the arena was packed or empty until 2008, recently had the longest cup drought in NHL history (broken in 2010). It hasn't all been bad (team holds (held?) record for most consecutive playoff appearances between the early 80s and late 90s and had some good runs including a SCF appearance in 1992, which although they were swept was a very close series -The bandwagon is still packed with post 2010 title fans (see video for example: )-The horrible owner that had the Hawks stone age died in 2008, but his son Rocky is the current owner. Nothing wrong with Rocky and he has reversed a lot of the damage his father did in the later years, but he's still a Wirtz so you have to be slightly wary. -Team still recovering from their post-Stanley Cup talent purge due to the salary cap/Dale Tallon. Issues with depth, although they have a promising group of prospects that are in various stages of development -The jury is definitely still out on Stan Bowman, the team's GM and many are not exactly in love with him and his post Cup moves I dunno thats all i feel like contributing. Go Hawks!
  10. Lovie Smith to be interviewed for the Bears HC position
  11. Can we stop with the Rooney rule subject. Everytime a black guy gets an interview people ask if its token Rooney time. People asked if lovie getting interviews was Rooney related. Just stop. Emery is talking to everybody. If he hadnt already spoken with a minority candidate he would have eventually. And freaking lovie is a well above .500 long tenured head coach as qualified as anybody out there for an interview. Assume it's for football reasons and move on. Well normally I, and probably most others, would assume what you just said. But it's Mike Singletary, if it was an actual qualified minority I wouldn't question if it was just to cover a silly rule. Keith Armstrong
  12. looks like they did. 42-14 vs. 41-14
  13. I'm waiting to read that Ryne Sandberg is interviewing for the job
  14. I mean Nashville is a really good team, they just bore me when I watch them play. Not the best way for a novice fan to gain enthusiasm for the sport. But maybe the winning makes up for it.
  15. Neither of those 2 teams. Columbus sucks and Nashville doesn't play the kind of hockey that will entertain a newbie fan. Or a die hard. Pick one of the sun belt teams. They could use the fans. This is of course assuming you aren't just asking us to sell you on following the Hawks.
  16. Either the Bulls are willing to pay the tax or a Rip trade is coming. Either of those things are okay with me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Bye Rip
  17. Hell maybe Nate Montana can transfer back to ND during halftime
  18. Will ND lose by more than Michigan did?
  19. saw a couple of people post their experiences here on doing the ST buying event. I forgot I even signed up for the ST waiting list a long time ago and just got an email saying i can go on Saturday and look at available seats. I have no plans to purchase season tickets at this point, but wanted to see if there was any value in going just for fun. what do you do there, just walk around the field and look at the open seats, or are there meetings and sales pitches and stuff? It's not like going to a timeshare meeting is it?
  20. Hahahaha. I am LOVING this. Now all these bandwagon Laker fans will go to the Clippers wagon and be ultimately disappointed by season's end. RIP 2012-2013 Lakers Relax, they said Howard will be re-evaluated in a week, their season isn't over.
  21. If that's true, that's a lot more crushing than the end of the Nationals season for DC sports fans.
  22. Looks like the Cotton Bowl of all bowls is set to host the first playoff championship game, with the Rose and Sugar bowls to host the semis. Also, the Rose and Sugar bowls will both be played on January 1 regardless of whether they are semi-final games or not. When they are not hosting playoff games, the actual Semi-finals will be played on December 31st.
  23. Seems like its going to be a 48 game season most likely unless things get ratified quickly. Either way, according to this training camp starts on Saturday (Jan 12) with the season likely starting a week later (Jan 19) Also.....ummm ok.. http://l1.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/GRAYU.HfOFYy6uvcRJPtaQ--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7cT04NTt3PTYzMA--/http://media.zenfs.com/en/blogs/sptusnhlexperts/alexpicard2.jpg
  24. Have you noticed a lot of news about the other interviews? I've only heard blurbs about whether or not they happened. Well we heard about the one that went 6 hours instead of 3. McCoy is possibly the highest profile candidate so I thought we'd hear some sort of reaction from a beat writer.
