  1. If you break it down by month it was only really August that was really bad. September/October’s OPS was above their overall season OPS (.751)
  2. To me hitting seems very cyclical and they’re bound to start hitting soon regardless of the caliber of pitching. We’ll see. I agree the vibes haven’t been great but that’s why Jed wanted all these good clubhouse guys on the roster to keep things together during bad stretches. I just think it’s too early to be more than slightly concerned at this point.
  3. I’m still not too worried, just a crappy stretch to start the year but they’re starting to dig an annoying hole for themselves and the schedule is getting tougher.
  4. Swanson almost certainly would have been out but when he didn’t try to score on Shaw’s fly ball I had a bad feeling.
  5. Technically tying the game means the lead was surmounted since that lead was erased. But yeah still need to win this.
  6. PCA looks so overmatched right now. It’s rough to watch.
  7. I hate how a 3-0 lead feels completely insurmountable
  8. I wasn’t really following too closely. So Shota pitched 6 innings and allowed 1 baserunner (walk), Thielbar came in and allowed 2 runs and 3 hits in 0.2 IP, then the rest of the pen pitched 2.1 IP without allowing a baserunner. Meanwhile the Cubs had 13 baserunners and didn’t score. gotta love baseball
  9. Really not worried. There's no reason to suggest the entire team besides Nico won't hit and the bullpen will light every game on fire when they come in all year.
  10. xBA - Pirates .281, Cubs .249 Mo's ball was 103 MPH and .490 xBA Busch's was 101 MPH and .550 xBA
  11. He just missed a HR 3 different times on Wednesday and probably hit one today if not for the wind. He'll be fine, he's getting closer to locked in IMO.
  12. Leadoff walk and the inning is over 2 pitches later lol. 3 double play caliber balls hit in 2 innings, 2 of them converted into GIDPs
  13. Weren't people talking about how doomed we were this series after losing the first game and having Assad and Rea going the next 2 nights?
  14. True but even without Horton neither Assad or Rea would be projected to be in a Cubs playoff rotation. Would be Cabrera, Steele, and 2 of Boyd, Shota and Taillon. If anything you’d want an Assad or Rea to be giving 3 innings piggybacking off the 3rd and 4th starters.
  15. We’re fine. It makes the job harder but Cade Horton, as awesome as he is, was not the sole reason we had deep playoff aspirations. Not ideal but plenty of time to figure it out, we have depth even if it isn’t particularly exciting, the chance that Steele comes back and is anything close to his pre-injury self and there is still a trade deadline if the SP really goes south but the Cubs are still in it. Sucks but the sky ain’t falling.
  16. The former, whatever, they have been cocky and it’s one of those things where you love them because it’s your team but understand why it would rub people the wrong way. The May hate I don’t understand at all. His players love him, other coaches (besides Izzo) seem to love him, he seems to have really strong relationships with virtually anyone affiliated with basketball. I can’t recall him saying anything too controversial. He seems like a genuinely good dude, I don’t get it.
  17. Reports starting to trickle out about Horton’s MRI and it’s…not good
  18. Our woeful opponent was the Nationals (1-5 in games not involving the Cubs) but we lost the series lol
  19. If we went 4-6 in June it would suck but not blown out of proportion. They'll get it together.
  20. One of these years the pitching staff isn't going to take 2 months to get it together.
