  1. Twins with an epic regular season choke, Brewers with an epic playoff choke, Cubs continue to exist in purgatory. I blame Brock for it all
  2. Holy crap Alonso. What a hit
  3. Leave it to the Brewers to be the one team that breaks the sweep trend in the WC round. Hope Mets can finish them off tomorrow.
  4. Orioles are going to be swept out of the playoffs because their 2B inexplicably didn’t take the much easier out and throw to get the out at 2B
  5. I’m glad the Cubs are refusing to participate in this WC round thing because it would really suck to win 91 games and have your season be over 72 hours after the regular season ends. I guess this was always a possibility with just the WC game previously but now it can happen even after winning the division.
  6. Even if you include 2020 thats 14 of 17 and we’re 6 outs away from 15 of 18. When is the sample size large enough to consider this a legitimate thing about the WC round? And if it is a thing, why exactly? Also home teams have won 8 of the 17 series (6 outs from 8 of 18) so it seems like home field has very little effect so far.
  7. man I wish I could find it but there was a Bears guy on twitter saying the same thing the other day. seems to be an overall disappointment in his performance this year.
  8. Speaking of Caleb…I’ll probably actually watch this one since it’s free:
  9. Yeah, only 264 yards of offense at home against a bad defense is not great but all I care about is 1) they won and 2) they (and particularly Caleb) showed noticeable growth. The 2nd half was the first time it felt like Caleb was calm and in full control of the offense. Yes there was a lot of check downs and some dink and dunks, but to me it was taking what the defense was giving him and he looked collected as he sat in the pocket and went through his progressions. I’ve definitely seen QBs that get checkdown happy but it looks frantic and rushed. That was not the case with Caleb yesterday. Yes his accuracy on deeper throws needs to be better, but I’m actually not worried about that all that much. Looking at his stats at USC, Caleb completed 57.4% of his passes beyond 20 yards while the average completion percentage for those types of passes in the NFL is…57.3%. There are a lot of differences between college and the pros to consider but this isn’t one of those areas IMO. He’ll connect on them as he gets more comfortable in the NFL and with his teammates.
  10. Just making uneducated guesses Tigers over Astros in 3 Royals over Orioles in 2 Mets over Brewers in 3 Padres over Braves in 2 Guardians over Tigers in 4 Yankees over Royals in 3 Phillies over Mets in 5 Dodgers over Padres in 5 Yankees over Guardians in 6 Phillies over Dodgers in 6 Phillies over Yankees in 4 literally spent 30 seconds of thought on this and didn’t watch massive chunks of the season besides the Cubs (though did generally know what was going on daily)
  11. Expanded playoffs. The WC2 and WC3 teams play a doubleheader the day after the season every year while the next best team sits at home. If the WC2 or WC3 team sweeps the DH, the next best team gets WC3 and takes the spot of the team swept. Theres like 99.5% of me who thinks thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard and 0.5% of me thinks its genius. Imagine watching the Marlins and DBacks having to play a doubleheader the day after the season last year with us hoping that for some reason one of them swept the other so the Cubs could make the playoffs.
  12. I believe its Max. I watched the first episode awhile back but forgot about it...will have to go back and watch the rest now.
  13. Bet he makes the HOF within the next decade. Sad though…dude horsefeathered up big time and destroyed a reputation of him as the ultimate bad ass baseball player. RIP
  14. Especially because winning gets them a series across the country against the Padres starting tomorrow night while losing gets the a series against the Brewers. I think I'd rather play the Brewers, especially considering the 2000 less miles to travel tonight
  15. Mets win. Crazy to me that Diaz threw 40 pitches. Will he be available for any of the first 2 games of their Wild Card series? I'm sure do-or-die in Game 2 they'd pitch Diaz but not sure if he'll be at his best.
  16. Obligatory win probability chart:
  17. I guess if you're a DBacks fan, seeing both teams wear out the back end of their pens is a good thing though I'm sure everyone will be available for Game 2. Chris Sale is going for the Braves in Game 2 right? Yikes
  18. I cant imagine having a rooting interest in this game. This is absolutely incredible and why baseball is so cool
  19. Wild stuff. Whoever loses is gonna be devastated and then have to turn around and play a due or die game 20 minutes later. This is bonkers
  20. I know this is too optimistic after one win especially after I spent half the game bitching and suggesting we fire the OC but the schedule sets up really nice to go 6-3 or dare I say it 7-2. But after that it turns pretty brutal. In fact, for the Bears to have a hope of playing meaningful games late into the season they should probably on themselves a favor and get through the first 9 at 6-3 or better. Carolina, Jacksonville (London), bye, at Washington, at Arizona, New England. Get there at 6-3 and your 8 remaining games are the 6 divisional games, at San Francisco and home vs Seattle.
  21. Yep exactly what I was thinking. The fact that these teams have to play a freaking doubleheader and then turn around and play a best of 3 series the very next day suggests that whoever wins the first game is going to lay down for the second one. Screw integrity of the game crap, that’s an extremely unique position to be in and you can’t destroy your postseason hopes for the sake of giving the Diamondbacks a fair shot. Crazier things have happened but a split seems pretty likely
  22. This is not a brag thing or anything, I’m just legitimately curious if Kyle’s “no elite punters” position has changed? Definitely just one game but he had a legitimate impact on today’s win Edit: Relevant tweet:
  23. Ahh yes I remember the fun arguments about who was at fault for Fields’ snap fumbles
