  1. Uhh have you watched much of Michigan this year, particularly the part when the QB has the ball?
  2. Obviously it was too little too late but the White Sox have gone 7-6 in their last 13 games. If they started playing better sooner they might have avoided the embarrassment of breaking the loss record.
  3. I just don't see why people want to trade that away...I get that we need more thump in the order and a lot of spots are blocked but unless you can get 4-5 win value for him I don't know if that's the first place I'd look to upgrade.
  4. 1:49 I think, but yeah I had no idea this game was already over. Had to run an errand and turned on 670 to see how the game was going and Pat said the Reds were down to their last out lol 2nd consecutive winning season and 8th in the last 10 seasons. This season sucks but at least that's an accomplishment. Win one of the last 2 games to equal last year's record, a team that finished 1 game out of the playoffs. Edit: 1:48 apparently. Shortest game in the majors this year from any team by 1 minute
  5. This season was super boring. I didn't really pay attention a ton after the middle of June. I kind of miss missing baseball when the season is over. But as I get older it starts to feel like the next season is right around the corner anyways.
  6. Will be interesting to see what they do this weekend in Detroit against a Tigers team attempting to clinch a playoff spot/make it to WC2. Minnesota has been so bad though that they're virtually clinched a spot at this point, and the difference between WC2 and playing the Astros vs. WC3 and facing the Orioles seems negligible. Still can't believe that Tigers team is going to make the playoffs. We faced them in like what mid-August and they had a worse record than us and really didn't look like anything special.
  7. One of them was a 'bring your dog to the park' night which always draws recently. The other was the final night game of the season so I'm guessing that's why it was well attended. I'm hoping they go 1-3 or worse because the idea of winning less than 40 games in a season is just so jaw dropingly bad, its difficult to comprehend.
  8. I'm assuming you are referring to the Rose retirement announcement? Yeah, it was really fun to watch a young Derrick Rose rise to superstardom. Since Jordan retired he's the only super-duper-star we've had on the Bulls. Butler came close and maybe got there after leaving Chicago but while here was not on that level of inner circle stars that the NBA markets the hell out of. Very sad that in 26 years since MJ we've one had 1 player of that caliber that the entire NBA pays attention to. So it was fun to be relevant until the injuries hit. But yeah, I see a lot of Bulls fans over the last few years feeling nostalgic about Rose and rooting for him, but after the rape allegations I never really felt comfortable rooting for him. I think he was cleared or it settled out of court or whatever, but his comments about not understanding consent and when asked why Rose and his friends thought that they were coming to the woman's house for a gangbang said something like "We men. You can assume" really turned me off on him. So great career...it was admirable that he was able to overcome the injuries that robbed him of his otherworldly athleticism and explosiveness to become a solid role player. But I'm not exactly rushing to retire his number or sign him to a 1 day contract or anything.
  9. For the first time in his last 7 starts?
  10. No but I've heard GMs say stuff that basically equates to 'we're rebuilding' without actually saying it. That said, GM speak is whatever, I've learned not to take it at face value. Though, my lack of faith in the Bulls FO makes me believe that they do actually think they can compete for the playoffs with this roster.
  11. You encapsulated what I'm feeling quite well right now. Not necessarily feeling despair about the Bears future, but I've allowed all those little things you mentioned to get to me. Then add in my 1-5 fantasy teams and I'm just like so burned out on football right now.
  12. The Cubs have clinched their 8th non-losing season in their last 10 seasons. If they win 1 more game thats 8 winning seasons in their last 10 seasons. The last time the Cubs accomplished this? 1937-1946 These low 80 win seasons are not acceptable, neither is only making the NLDS 3 times in those 8 seasons, but still a notable achievement given the Cubs historical lack of success. If the Cubs go 1-3 they have a winning season 2-2 to match last year's record 3-1 to top last year's record 4-0 to have their most wins since their last full season playoff appearance in 2018.
  13. Crazy stat but Brissett is actually tied with Aaron Rodgers for the lowest career interception percentage of all time at 1.4%. Obviously less inceptions is good but since guys like Tyrod Taylor and Gardner Minshew are also in the top 10, I'm not sure if its as telling of a statistic as it sounds like on the surface.
  14. Funny to think Paredes was in the Brewers locker room showering his teammates with champaign after clinching the division last week and now he's on the Cubs after roster playing out the string.
  15. Yikes, what a ****** move. Everyone knows you DFA them a month earlier like the Cubs did Neris.
  16. Is DVOA still a stat that people put any stock in? Was just looking at their updated rankings after week 3...they have the Bears dead last in offensive DVOA, and there's a pretty big gap between them and Cleveland who is 31st. Overall, they are ranked 24th in the league on the back of their 8th ranked defense. https://ftnfantasy.com/dvoa/nfl/team-total-dvoa Here's the bottom of the list sorted by Offensive DVOA rankings:
  17. The people that are cracking me up are the Fields defenders coming out of the woodwork again because the Steelers are 3-0 with him starting. Fields has played slightly above average and I don't believe has a TO this year, which is great. But these people ignore that: 1) Fields has yet to lead the Steelers offense to more than 20 points in a game 2) Fields has led the Steelers to as many TDs as Caleb has the Bears (3) 3) Fields probably isn't doing this with Eberflus and the Bears (ok that's my opinion not fact) 4) Fields is going to be very expensive after this season and he's not necessarily putting up the numbers that would make someone excited to pay him as much money as he will likely get.
  18. I love how they went on and on about how the revenue from these ventures were going to be invested back into the team and were 4 years in and they are just counting on us to forget those statements or not put up that much of a stink about it. I know the RSN bubble burst while Marquee was being launched but the Ricketts have bought 2/3rds of Wrigleyville, did their renovation project, have their tv station, new sportsbook, etc.
  19. Well yeah it would be pretty ridiculous to regret the pick 3 games into the season. But I can't say it doesn't bother me a little to see him blow up like that.
  20. We’re sitting here talking about Caleb’s progress in a 3 turnover loss and Jayden Daniels is out there throwing 30 yard perfectly placed dimes to the corner of the end zone to beat the Bengals on the road His line: 21-23, 254 yards, 11.0 ypa, 2 TD, 0 INT and 141.7 QB rating with 11 rushes for 40 yards and another TD damn
  21. Love watching other teams clinch division titles on the Cubs own premium cable channel. Especially nice knowing the revenue for this pointless channel goes towards helping the Ricketts family buy more of Wrigleyville and not helping them build a better team.
  22. I get the feeling Holmes wanted to move away from Bernstein but I could be wrong
  23. It’s the 40 man spot that’s the concern. I’m not sure what the 40 man crunch looks like this year but there are usually tough decisions made every year that expose talented prospects to the Rule 5 draft. Assuming they don’t want to put Caissie on the 40 man to call him up for a few games and then have 1 less spot to protect someone else over the winter. and for the person that suggested we go back to having more than 2 call ups when rosters expand, it’s the same issue. The call ups always had to be on the 40 man roster so you’d have the same issues.
  24. Re: Taylor - is it possible that a punter, like other positions in the NFL, needs time to acclimate to things? I wouldn't expect that much acclimation but it is faster, the hash marks are closer, the returners are better, etc. I dunno just playing devil's advocate, I'm not sure if I even agree with what I'm saying...would have to look at how other top punters have fared their first few weeks in the NFL and I really dont care enough to look it up.
  25. I don't think we were wrong to have expectations to go 10-7 (which is still entirely possible). It's year 3 of Poles' gut job rebuild. We were doing things like trading 4th round picks for veteran WRs on 1 year deals (though I'm sure part of that was to get a QB friendly WR to help Caleb). There were other win now moves made. I think Poles had 10-7ish expectations going into this year too, he just left some glaring holes on the OL and maybe made the wrong hire at OC> There was always gonna be a ton of wiggle room with regards to expectations this year because it was all dependent on how quickly Caleb could acclimate to the NFL. I'm not going to necessarily assign him blame for losing the last 2 games but he did not look particularly good last week and while much better this week we still left a lot of points on the table. He has yet to lead an offense to 20 points in a game. Not all on him, just saying that his learning curve is going to make a big difference on how the season goes. Yesterday was a nice step forward...very interested to see how it translates next week.
