  1. Can we please at least wait until the Phillies get a baserunner before we talk as if the Cubs already lost and the Giants already won? Our pitcher who is on absolute fire going against a pitcher who has been struggling and we're going to lose which will propel the Giants to automatic victory because one guy isn't in the Cubs lineup.
  2. Ross is playing. No Schwarber Schwarber has still never started a game at Wrigley Field
  3. haha I love reading these threads after losses.
  4. That team was one of the biggest flukes in sports history The 2001 Chicago Bears allowed the fewest amount of points in the NFL, and scored the 11th most. They were a pretty decent team. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/chi/2001.htm Of course they deserved to get swatted in the divisional round like they did. Well IIRC they had a bottom 3 SOS, won 2 games on pure miracles, beat a 2-14 team at home by a score of 13-10, were a game worse than their record and failed to make the playoffs (or even come close) in the 6 seasons prior and 3 seasons after, suggesting they played over their heads in 2001 IMO.
  5. Len Kasper...I mean 'Anonymous MLB Announcer" wrote a letter for Boers and Bernstein's 'Who you crappin' segment. It further confirms that Len Kasper is awesome.
  6. football especially with the small sample schedule Aside from fewer games, how do you figure? fewer games in which things like fumbles, pick 6's, and other fluke plays completely reverse outcomes which is how a [expletive] team like the 2001 bears ends up with a first round bye Yeah seriously. If anything, because baseball plays a 162 game schedule, any lucky or unlucky events are minimized over a season. There's some variance between lucky and unlucky teams but not as much as football. That is until you get into the playoffs where it becomes a complete crapshoot.
  7. Ross' pitching framing not good enough apparently
  8. Was looking over this list of top 100 NFL players...too lazy to read if its trade value or just overall whatever but every team has a player on this list except the Bears. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-nfl-100-rankings-2015-part-2/
  9. hope that says something about the market for rentals Hmm its too bad the Cubs seem to have no desire in rentals.
  10. Hey guys we are looking for big names, how about we trade for David Wright? We might get him for a discount because of his degenerative back condition. Lets give them Baez, Schwarber and Edwards and throw in some cash just to get the deal done.
  11. Justin Upton is pretty damn good. He is. But he's not great and another below average defender. Not worth Baez, Edwards and McKinney for only 3 guaranteed months.
  12. But but but...big names guys! Let's ignore that Kemp is a broken down corner OF who is an absolutely horrendous defender. Or ignore that Justin Upton is no where near the player that people seem to think he is Or ignore that James Shields has alarming peripherals this year Or ignore that all 3 make gobs upon gobs of money and 2 of them are signed for at least the next 4 seasons. So for the benefit of those 3 guys, you get to partially gut your system and kill your payroll flexibility..and you send them cash!
  13. I think its funny that there are 4 players that started significant time with the Bears last year that are still unsigned heading into training camp. Those guys are Briggs, DJ Williams, Brian de la Puente and Eben Britton
  14. Woo hoo! The 2 wins this series were pretty awesome.
  15. get a grip Hahaha. Yeah, it's not THAT big of a game. Splitting the Reds would be huge though It would save the season, that's for sure
  16. get a grip Yea its not like nick ahmed is due up
  17. Now when I hear the name Teagarden, I won't think of the Friday Night Lights girl, I will see this face: http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Taylor+Teagarden+UN-yRcfLSJ8m.jpg
  18. So that's why Price wasn't playing Chapman in tie games earlier this year. He's one of those closers that sucks in non-closing situations.
  19. Can we have the filter change swear words into 'nick ahmed'? God I hate that guy.
  20. dammit now I can't bitch about the Cubs bad luck for a few games pitches
