  1. The cubs do [expletive] in the clutch. Don't expect anything. This team has absolved itself of any hope for the rest of the season. They had a chance to go to 9 games above .500 and they've performed like steamy garbage ever since. It's inexcusable. Yeah nothing at all in the clutch that's why they lead baseball in walkoff wins
  2. I don't understand if Maddon is supposed to be this smart manager he doesn't see the advanced stats that suggest that he's due to suck. I don't necessarily care if the best reliever is a closer, I mean we've made the playoffs with Borowski and Dempster as our closers, but Motte is definitely not the guy when you have guys like Grimm and Strop (assuming you use Rondon for high leverage situations)
  3. So glad Ross is batting 3rd instead of Schwarber. his pitch framing really kept the Cubs in this one
  4. I get not wanting to put the go ahead run on but you are facing the hottest hitter in baseball who has crushed you tonight already. Plus walking him sets up a possible double play
  5. Oh I forgot. Only the most dangerous part of the Rockies order too
  6. Oh god. Maybe the only one I want in there less than Motte
  7. Wow this is a disaster. Single from tying it
  8. That was the first XBH of the inning to score the 6th run
  9. This is actually good. Castro can't GIDP here. A grounder might actually score a run. And they won't walk him because Hendricks will be PH
  10. Man Bryant's OPS is under .800 and Rizzos under .900. Rizzo had an ops over 1.000 like 3 weeks ago and Bryant had an OPS in the high .800s
  11. Cubs team warning track power is off the charts
  12. 31 pitch inning for Hendricks 10 pitch inning for De La Rosa
  13. Welp hope the Bullpen is ready to pitch a bit today. Already 30 pitches and the inning isn't over.
  14. Also apparently the Hawks championship DVD comes out tomorrow.
  15. The Rockies are an insurmountable foe. 51-49. Book it!
  16. I wish we had someone like that on last year's Bears to give us the inside dirt on how disfunctional it was.
  17. Cubs are now 24-25 against sub-500 teams and 27-21 against +500 teams. At least I think so. Have to check to see if any of those teams went from under to over or vice versa since the ASB
  18. I think getting that playoff experience will help them more than failing in the regular season brilliant insight
  19. 1) we were 3 games out last month and won 6 in a row and came back to eventually take a 4 game lead. None of the other 2 teams in the hunt are clearly better than us and I don't see any of the 3 teams pulling away so what's the point of worrying that much in July? 2) Worst team in baseball is 8-1 since the break (5-1 not against us) so obviously a team we caught in a hot stretch while we were in a down stretch. It happens during a long season. The 2006 Cubs were awful but swept the World Series winning Cardinals twice (1 a 4 gamer) during that season. They obviously bounced back. Again it's one series in July. Before that we weren't playing our best but we were still treading water (7-7 in previous 14). Most teams, even the best teams go through periods of mediocre play over a long season. It just happens. 3) don't know much about the effort thing but part of the reason we hired Maddon is because of his successful experience managing a group of young players and keeping their focused on giving effort every day. If there's an issue I'm pretty confident we have the right guy to address it. Key point is that this is one small stretch in a 162 game season. Every team has peaks and valleys every season and it's not worth getting upset over all that much in July. I'm not saying it doesn't suck but with perspective it sucks a lot less.
  20. Umm win tomorrow? I don't know why everyone is so down. This weekend sucked but there are over 2 months of baseball to play and we've seen the team play a lot better than this
