  1. made it out of the inning thanks to a diving catch to rob an XBH and a caught stealing
  2. Yeah but let's see how he finishes the year before we pan him. If he doesn't get it together, well he's had bad years before and has turned it around the next year.
  3. Looking like another taxing bullpen game, especially if Wood or Jaxon is being saved for Saturday
  4. Yesssss all my life I've wanted to follow a team that was wildly hated...not because of being assholes but because of winning and people sick of seeing them winning and being awesome. Jordan's Bulls from my understanding were fairly liked by non-Bulls fans. I thought the Blackhawks were going that route too but it seems like this last Cup has brought out a fair amount of hate.
  5. http://img.pandawhale.com/84085-Seinfeld-shudder-cringe-gif-Im-ZGOa.gif That might be as bad of a 6-9 as anything we put out in the dark ages of 2010-2014

    Castro

At least no ones been shot around him lately

  8. I blame whoever mentioned that we had the least DPs in baseball
  9. #5 starters are generally bad. Jason Marquis was the #5 in 2008 when they won 97 games. How many times do we have to go over the fact that 2008 Marquis was not bad. In fact he was almost exactly average I believe. if hendricks is "bad" then 2008 marquis was bad Worse ERA than Marquis in a much worse hitting environment. Hendricks ERA+ was 90 before today, Marquis was at 101. Of course Hendricks FIP suggests that he's been better than his ERA

  11. He's been a decent pitcher through 9 starts it looks like. Low 3s FIP, good K rate I think.
  12. These espn announcers didn't get the memo that you are supposed to criticize Castos focus not compliment him.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] There are some Hawks that I'm sure would not be thrilled about him joining the team.
  14. Agreed, the Clippers uniforms are awful. I like the new Sixers ones too. Sixers and Bucks are gorgeous. The Bucks new unis are awesome. They should never change them.
  15. According to Weather.com, it doesnt seem like the real strong stuff will hit until 10pm. There is a window of rain and thunder in the 8:00 hour but then nothing at 9. If those reports are accurate i think we will ge this in.
  16. Or how the 1970 Cubs were within a half game of first as late as Sept 4th (Game 137), within a game of first as late as September 15th (game 146) and within 1.5 games as late as September 19th (Game 151). Then they lost 7 of 9 to fall 6 games out before winning their last 2 meaningless games. To compare...in 1969 after 137 games, the Cubs were up 5 games, after game 146 they were down 2.5 games, after game 151 they were 4 games out.
  17. Hawks will raise the banner October 7th against the Rangers
  18. I think it's unnecessary. Agreed - though I like the general concept of wanting to have our best bullets available for STL, every win we can get is important. If it's late August or September, and a sweep could get us into a tie with them or something, you might be on to something, but it's too early to think like that. If you spot start someone like Wood or Jackson, they probably won't be able to give you more than 5 innings, meaning you risk taxing the pen before the Cardinals series.
  19. OK I now officially hate them after seeing them on the players
  20. Yeah they got Greinke out of the game after 6 innings by making him throw over 100 pitches. Good stuff
  21. We've gotta be closing in on an '08 date. ETA: 9 over was our highwater mark in '09. Yeah I pointed out the other day, if they can get to 11 over 500, they will be at the highwater mark for any season besides 2008 since 2004. For fun, Cubs highwater mark for since 2000: 2000: 1 2001: 19 2002: 0 2003: 15 2004: 21 2005: 6 2006: 5 2007: 10 2008: 35 2009: 9 2010: 0 2011: 1 2012: 0 2013: 1 2014: 0 2015: 9
  22. Probably were offered more money. Apparently WGN was in the running for the Sox too...would have been funny to have the Cubs on 670 and the Sox on 720 after the last 10 years of it being reversed.
  23. You know what's funny? I feel like I should hate them more than I do. Every fiber in my being is telling me to hate them, but I don't think I do...please dont hate me.
