  1. I've noticed that too, he's making good pitches to quickly get weak contact when behind in the count.
  2. OK unless the anemic 7-8-9 of the Cubs order manages to get on base we will go to the 7th with a perfect game going on.
  3. OK its not cute anymore. Get a hit or a walk or something.
  4. If we get mowed down the rest of the game, the narrative will be to take this game and the sale game as islands amongst offensive explosion and say the Cubs cant hit good pitchers. That narrative will be ignoring hitting Shelby Miller hard of course but I can see it coming from the idiot media.
  5. wow i thought for sure a run was scoring one way or another when that ball was hit. Fantastic play
  6. Meh, until he sucks in the actual season, I'll still go with the "had multiple injuries most of the year"/"preseason doesnt matter" combination of excuses.
  7. Well 49 pitches through 3. If we can make him work, we could get him out after 6
  8. I just think its hilarious that Lester, who is probably the worst hitter in baseball history, insists on forcing one of the worst position players in the league into the lineup every time he starts. It's like insisting on playing 4 on 5 in the NBA. Edit: OK on second thought maybe not that bad because Ross brings defensive value and Lester is a very good pitcher, but its still a handicap that doesn't have to be as bad.
  9. Well that was Ross's one hard struck ball this month
  10. Hahah Ross saw the replay on the scoreboard and put his helmet back on and walked out before the call was even made
  11. what way is the wind blowing today?
  12. [expletive] I was relatively near the park an hour ago and a light afternoon work schedule. But now I'm in Wheaton Fake edit: whoops I missed the part about you having to like the person
  13. well that would explain the groin tightness
  14. Jay Ratliff suspended 3 games for violating substance abuse policy. The hits just keep coming
  15. He will get his shot in September.
  16. Oh well on Soler. If he doesn't come back this sesason he will be the starting RF next year almost certainly. Still hold out pretty good hope for him mostly because he still doesn't have a ton of minor/major league ABs so there is still development there, and the best attibute he was supposed to have, power, was non existent. Is it possible the oblique has been bothering him for awhile, zapping him of power? Either way its likely an adjustment and better luck that will give him more power. If he was just a bust and a bad hitter, he would at least be destroying mistake pitches every so often and his BA would likely be lower. Instead hes hitting around .260 with minimal power.
  17. i think ive been reading too many game threads lately
  18. True, but we would still have to face either the 2nd best or 3rd best team in the NL in the NLDS as a reward for having the best record in baseball (or at least best in NL)
  19. In an almost identical amount of PAs as Kyle Schwarber, former Cub all glove/no hit IF Andres Blanco has a .929 OPS vs. .957 for Schwarbs. What the heck?
