  1. Gammons is close enough to Theo that I wouldn't doubt he's being used as a mouth piece in negotiations
  2. wonder if the cubs are leaking this to make the Padres cave
  3. tisk tisk derwood is going to hate seeing this
  4. [tweet] [/tweet] I would like this a little bit
  5. I just wanted to point out that this move officially makes us buyers for the first time in 6 years. :cray: (that's supposed to be a happy cry)
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] I've never seen this much confidence about a trade happening that hasn't been announced as completed yet.
  7. We've approached the trade deadline in a mostly rational and practical manner for the past 3 years. Time to do something erratic. Do me a favor...when you quote a tweet, please delete the text so Derwood doesn't have to read it again
  8. I'm not sure but people complaining about others rushing to provide minute by minute updates on the forum you frequent is worse than either of those. I'm sorry which discussions are you missing out on because you have to read "5 tweets in a row"? Is there a Baseball Mogul dynasty discussion this is distracting you from?
  9. we were just discussing that...
  10. the [expletive] man you're right am i missing the part where the Cubs wouldnt bring a fresh Wada up to start? Im not clued in on him, is he pitching in iowa to rehab his injury or is it a demotion? Also weve been competitive and have won several of the 'bullpen games' we've had so we aren't exactly hosed if Wood starts and gives us 4 innings before turning it over. i totally was not serious I know, I was just too lazy to delete your comment from my quote

  12. We had to start Mark Clark because -Mullholland was probably pitching the best but he pitched 8 innings his last 2 starts, his last start was Sunday (game 162), and he came on in relief in game 163 -Tapani pitched on the last friday of the season and would have been good to go for game 1 on normal rest but was brought in for an inning of relief in game 163 -Trachsel would have been the next choice but he started game 163 -Wood...I am not sure why he wasn't healthy enough to start game 1 but was able to start game 3. I remember there being a lot of talk about whether he should be shut down for the year or pitch in the playoffs and I don't think it was official that he would start game 3 until the day of the game. So it was either Mark Clark or Mike [expletive] Morgan
  13. No one too reputable but there are bloggers speculating whether Kyle Hendricks could be traded....if so that would suggest we are still in it for another SP
  14. [tweet] [/tweet] Hate this [expletive] tweet
  15. Yep. Haren pitched yesterday. All the more reason to believe this isn't it. Wada should be good to go Sunday right?
  16. Haren average start 6 1/3 innings Wada average start 4 1/3 innings (last year 5 1/3 innings) The numbers are similar including FIP, Haren just eats more innings which is nice for a 5th starter. Not my ideal pickup but I do think he's better than any of the other internal options.
  17. Hope we traded something less than broken down Carlos Marmol
  18. [tweet] [/tweet] Figured its worth its own thread
  19. I think I am really going to make some popcorn and just refresh twitter for the next 2.75 hours.
  20. Padres have more pieces and more suitors. They have contenders and non-contenders alike knocking on the door. Can't blame them for taking it too the wire. If the Twins and Cubs don't do anything I'll be shocked. The White Sox are the team that should stand pat. Too close to sell, too far to buy. Didn't the White Sox make a minor move yesterday?
  21. I don't understand how this keeps being said. The Cubs are already 2/3 of the way through a race for the playoffs and very much in contention. i don't think he realizes that being "equipped for a playoff run" means having a playoff berth. No I get it. I don't think we are going to make the playoffs and even if we do, I don't feel this team would be successful in the playoffs. -Royals fan July 31, 2014
