But but but...big names guys! Let's ignore that Kemp is a broken down corner OF who is an absolutely horrendous defender. Or ignore that Justin Upton is no where near the player that people seem to think he is Or ignore that James Shields has alarming peripherals this year Or ignore that all 3 make gobs upon gobs of money and 2 of them are signed for at least the next 4 seasons. So for the benefit of those 3 guys, you get to partially gut your system and kill your payroll flexibility..and you send them cash! -

I think its funny that there are 4 players that started significant time with the Bears last year that are still unsigned heading into training camp. Those guys are Briggs, DJ Williams, Brian de la Puente and Eben Britton -
