  1. Soler with signs of life too. Not for a ton of power yet but .350 over the last 5 games and several lineouts that could have been XBHs
  2. Awesome to see Fowler out of his slump... .386/.534/.568/1.102 in his last 13 games.
  3. That reminded me of DeRosa's HR in game 1 of the 2008 NLDS. Almost the exact same high pop fly hit down the RF line and the way it was hit everyone thought it would end up foul or short of the wall and then all the sudden it landed for a HR.
  4. Really only 3 starts... First 3 starts: 6.89 ERA Last 17 starts: 2.81 ERA
  5. 2015 was never the year! It's incredibly stupid, and way more common than it should be. I STILL hold out hope that Hamels will be following Lester and Arrieta in the rotation come Friday. Its stupid to fall back to that as an excuse for standing pat, but its not stupid to look at the situation (2.5 games out of a spot for a 1 game playoff on the road to get into the division series) and the market (seems to be a lot of teams rich in money and prospects chasing guys like Hamels and Price) and the team (a bunch of high potential but struggling and inconsistent young hitters, 3 of them in their first full seasons) and make the determination that it's not worth giving up someone the caliber of Schwarber (or maybe even a rung below) for a 10% better chance of making the division series in one season when there are several attractive FAs to go after in the offseason that won't cost a top prospect (but will cause the loss of a first round pick). At least that's how I see it. Who has ever talked about trading Schwarber for a rental? There's a chasm between trading Schwarber for Dan Haren and trading guys who wouldn't be drafted in Rule 5 3 years from now. Sorry I assumed when people were saying 'standing pat' they were referring to major moves not someone like Haren. I'm all for doing that.
  6. That's more wins that I would have expected you to predict
  7. Look out Kerry Wood. 5Ks in first 6 batters
  8. I cannot because that is incredibly stupid. 9. While I'd be disappointed at standing pat, I understand this is how Theo has operated since he got here. He's not going to wildly overpay for someone, so if the asking price is too high for a TOR starter right now (with the decision aided by the Cubs mediocre play over the last month), he will move to plan B to add one in the offseason. I'm sure it wouldn't be his ideal scenario, but neither is including Schwarber in a deal for Hamels or something if the asking price gets into that range.
  10. I know, that's what I was implying but I don't think people caught on. If you look at ARCubsfan's profile it says he's 23. Smoking gun evidence! Edit: Ok the real smoking gun is that the twitter user is just as irrationally negative during games as the NSBB poster
  11. Well it was nice knowing you baseball discussion on Chicago sports talk radio. Dammit now I'm going to hear a bunch of fluff pieces and psyche myself up for a season that is likely to end poorly.
  12. i think being a cub has caused maddon to lose what was left of his mind
  13. Geez, I read something about the White Sox now being buyers and I thought that sounded ridiculous. Then I looked up the wild card standings and noticed that the Sox are only 1 game farther from the playoffs (3.5 gb) than the Cubs are (2.5 gb)
  14. I wonder if someone stole that from me because I said it in the game thread last night. Edit: Hmm...it was a 23 year old Cubs fan from Arkansas. You guys know anyone like that who frequents our game threads?
  15. Basically this Tigers sucking streak is probably the worst case scenario for the Cubs long term. We probably would have better odds getting Price as a FA than we ever will in a deadline trade, especially with the recent struggles probably making the FO lukewarm on being huge buyers
  16. who the [expletive] cares about whether the white sox have a better record or not
  17. Also: [tweet] [/tweet] Griggs tweets are protected so I can't verify that he tweeted that from his account directly
  18. What davell is referencing: Would it be uncommon to pull a guy mid game for a promotion? From what I've read on Twitter yes it would be uncommon
  19. Wait, was that for real? I thought it was a bad joke. He was in AA when we traded him like 4 years ago. If he's really still hung up over it, that's just weird. Err pretty sure he spent some time on the Cubs before he was dealt
  20. He has his millions of dollars. I HAVE NOTHING! Other people feeling pain is the most approximate feeling i know to happiness. Not only that but he's able to have his buddies shoot people in a crowded club and rape a girl and get away with both. Too far?
  21. Waivers ?? OMG, waivers !!! You can't put the guy on waivers, some other team might claim him !!!! The Cardinals would pick him up and he would close out the World Series for them.
  22. Must have got stuck in bad matchups again eh Joe?
  23. Shocker. Most web gemmed team web gemmed in a huge spot
  24. Schwarber is struggling for the first time probably in his life
  25. Strong groundout Starlin. Are you even trying anymore?
