  1. It's a rehab assignment, it's not unusual for them to not play the full game
  2. Starlin just doesn't want to be traded. He will turn it on after the deadline. Right??
  3. Of course we can't get him home with less than 2 outs
  4. Bryant isn't in the lineup either tonight
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] This deadline is bananas
  6. He's been pulled from every Iowa lineup this year :) Was he pulled from Tennessee lineup or was he never in it to begin with?
  7. So I think that leaves the Cubs, Twins and Giants as the only teams within 3 games of a playoff spot to not either make a move or declare themselves sellers. Will be interesting to see how the final 24 hours plays out as it seems like everyone is in a trading frenzy
  8. [tweet] [/tweet] Would be mildly funny to watch the reactions of Cubs fans if we did nothing and the Sox traded for Upton and/or Cespedes. Or at least would slightly lessen the disappointment of standing pat.
  9. This. I'd do that in a heartbeat. I get that they might be trying to hold off trading Baez, but I hope the front office isn't delaying this by caring about guys like Underwood. They want Baez? Give us Upton or Kemp and he's theirs. Who wouldn't jump at the opportunity to add a player who has a combined 2 WAR over the last 3 seasons and is making $86 million the next 4 seasons after this one? And all we have to do is trade one of our better trading chips? Wow, sign me up. $32 million is the going rate for a a win right?
  10. If we are willing to take Gyorko and his salary (who by the way has a .880 OPS against lefties this year and .785 and a .688 OPS overall on the road so we might be able to get some use out of him), I bet, we could cut Underwood out of the deal.
  11. Thanks Obama
  12. [tweet] [/tweet] Not sure if that's just Phil speculating or something he heard
  13. I could easily see that quote from Maddon being taken as "Relax, you aren't sitting today because your being traded, its just a day off"
  14. At this point, Kennedy/Gallardo/Leake/Haren are probably the options. Is Ross off the market? That still seems like the most likely unless I missed some news
  15. Really hope they don't extend him so the Cubs have a shot in the offseason. If he does get extended who does that leave this offseason? Cueto, Gallardo, Kazmir, Kennedy, Lackey, Latos, Samardzija, Zimmerman Still some good names out there, but a lot less sexy without price
  16. Woo hoo Michigan with 1 vote! Illinois with 7 votes..ok that makes me feel less good.
  17. It wouldnt surprise me if the dodgers give him his 200 million before the offseason either. There's absolutely no way that Friedman gives up Urias. That asking price is nuts for a 2 month rental of David Price. I'm assuming they wouldnt agree to that price unless they agreed to an extension with him before the deal is made
  18. They didn't get a competitive balance pick this year, though it was total luck that they didn't. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/2016-competitive-balance-draft-results.html Good, but either way its ridiculous that the Cardinals have an opportunity for one each year. Why are they basing this on "10 smallest markets" and not "10 smallest revenue teams"? Because while St. Louis metro is relatively small their regional fan base is gigantic, and now with a top 10 revenue TV deal it becomes even more ridiculous that they would receive an extra 1st or 2nd round pick almost every season on top of TV revenue that is probably double what the Cubs get.
  19. Well this should allow them to sign their annual competitive balance pick and fit them into their $150m+ future payroll
  20. He's having a terrible season. Will be interesting to see the angst from us if/when he goes on a tear with STL
