I just hope they don't go through the random May dip they went on the last 2 years. I feel like the last 2 Aprils we came out of the gate having quality PA after quality PA and then we slumped for a while before getting it going in the summer months.

So 6-2 since real opening day with one of the losses being in a game we had a 97% win probability in the 8th inning.

Damn you're right, I thought strike 2 in that AB was a ball and was excited to correct the legendary TT but game day shows it as a strike and obviously ball 1 hit the corner, good call.

The difference is Cishek usually figured out a way to get the job done more often than not. Presley still TBD.

Eh, it was a well hit ball. Definitely required a good jump from Seiya but he probably didn't have a better option than 2B. It was good baseball IMO.

oh crap, I turned it off for a bit and checked and thought it said Machado hit the HR. That's so much worse

Ugh, had a 3-1 count to Tucker and Seiya and neither could do anything with it, though Tucker hit it well.

I'm assuming the wind is blowing in? If so I'd rather have Shota's 20th percentile GB rate for a game like this.

Not to be the weather guy but man the weather looks ****** for the entire homestand. Rain issues Friday and Saturday and then 41/29 and 40/24 the first 2 scheduled night games

This is very similar to the series we had in Oakland at the start of the 2023 season. We won those games 14-1, 4-0, 12-2. The +27 RD boost from that series kept us below our pythag record the rest of the season. Currently our RD for this series is +26.

Really interested to see what the park effects look like when there's more data. Seems like the ball flies out of here like old school Coors Field, though maybe both teams are just swinging the bat well.

I just read that Progressive Field has never had a player hit for the cycle and it's been open for 31 years (roughly 2,500 games). This Sacramento Park had one in its first ever MLB game.

Yeah it was probably a good thing for him. He got a taste for the real thing, got to face 2 elite starters, then was able to take a breath and go back to the Cactus League to work on whatever before jumping back into the real thing.

Yeah I kind of agree. I'm fine with the save for the last 3 innings thing, but there has to be some sort of limitation, like you only get a save if you pitch the last 3 innings and the lead is 6 or less when you enter or something. The idea that Rea could have given up 14 runs and still gotten the save is hilarious.

When the Cubs win 16-15 we’re gonna be happy they made that challenge and it was overturned.

There are gonna be stretches this year when it will feel like it’s impossible for the Cubs to do anything on offense. When that happens we have to remember games like today where every time you look up another run scores
