  1. is it bad that the 2 "bullpen days we have had recently have yielded better results than the average recent Hammel/Haren/Hendricks start
  2. 2007 and 2008 were fun. The rest of the time afterwards I was just bitching about the traffic
  3. Just making a point that there are worst things than posting slash lines over selected time periods. I'm not mad, just messing around. Carry on
  4. And now back to David talking about how close he lives to Wrigley Field
  5. You got me. I thought I was hiding it well but clearly you are just too clever tell me i'm wrong it's like 90% of your posts bare minimum I don't think you get it. I am not trying to hide any of what you are saying. I thought the above post made this clear.

  7. [tweet] [/tweet] Also revealed that Yadi has a tear in his thumb and is being reevaluated to see if he can play this year
  8. Does this dude have any inside knowledge on Jeffery's injury that we havent heard? And he did this before Cutler got hurt? (not that he would be droppable in that scenario either but at least slightly more understandable) I highly doubt he knows anything about Jeffery that we don't. He made the move Sunday morning before kickoff, so before the Cutler injury. And while he's been playing with us for years, he consistently finishes near the bottom of the league. I assume he's stayed around so long because he's a very active manager, just not a good one. Oddly enough, he's 2-0 to start the season. Fantasy football in a nutshell
  9. One more stats thing... September numbers (min 20 AB) Castro: .419/.457/.721/1.177 Bryant .329/.382/.600/.982 LaStella .321/.387/.571/.959 Coughlan .306/.407/.531/.937 Rizzo .279/.405/.529/.934 Montero .326/.396/.413/.809 Schwarber .179/.319/.487/.806 Baez .296/.333/.407/.741 Russell .211/.297/.404/.700 Fowler .222/.325/.375/.700 Jackson .216/.259/.314/.573 Ross .167/.222/.250/.472
  10. Good lineup Would love to see Schwarbs get out of his slump .151/.274/.377/.652 in his last 15 games and .197/.321/.465/.786 his last 46 (yes .786 OPS hardly qualifies as a slump, but I'd like to see him get his overall average/OBP up) Bryant on the other hand...after seeing his season OPS drop to .788 on August 1st, has hit .333/.404/.609/1.023 in his last 45 games. Stud!

  12. I tend to agree, but there are a ton of young players on this defense, so I'm hoping they can find at least 2-3 pieces that can be on the team going forward. If those guys emerge and the rest get more comfortable with the scheme, they can probably not give up 30 points every game, especially when they are facing offenses that aren't GB or Arizona. Can one of those guys be a fixed Kyle Fuller, please? I just don't think he's very good. I'm not sure fixing is a thing that can be done. (amateur X/O talk warning) The switch out of the cover 2 requires your corners to be better in coverage and does not help Fuller at all. If he didn't suck the last 12 games of last season, I'd say perhaps he is just having difficulty adjusting to the new scheme but I'm dubious...his natural ability that allowed him to get picked in the middle of the 1st round should be able to be seen in flashes but he's instead constantly being abused out there.
  13. lol yeah if you want to get me to change my mind. I believe I am right but I'm sick of defending my argument 2 vs 1 so this is the last comment I will make on it because its really not a particularly strong opinion that I have and its not worth battling jersey on (who I respect but I hate being on the opposing side of). David has been caught up in enough of these 1 on 2+ arguments himself that I don't mind if he's arguing against me.
  14. meh, agree to disagree. it's stupid to even complain about sports talk radio in any capacity anyways so I guess point to you.
  15. And those people deserve to be called out. There are a strong contingent here that was consistent in their acceptance of a rebuilding and didn't rant about how the Cubs were the worst run organization in sports (like one Bears caller suggested this morning) because Chris Rusin had a bad start 2 weeks into the 2012 season. you're all over the place here the point is that the people who are complaining today don't have to be the same people who were saying a few weeks ago that they knew we were gonna suck and are cool with it or whatever...and even if they were, they have every right to complain if the play doesn't meet whatever expectations they did have (i.e. maybe certain players that they expect development from for the long term or whatnot) It's stupid to be ok of a rebuilding year and then after 2 weeks be ranting about how everything is a disaster when you have a new GM who is stripping the team of veterans and in my opinion trying to get a high draft pick, a new coach, new defensive scheme and several key injuries, not to mention a very tough first 2 games. It's ok to rant at the individual players or plays, or pick apart coaching decisions, but ripping the organization or the organizational plan after 2 games given the factors I just listed is stupid. We will have to agree to disagree on whether the same people are calling into the shows because its the really the key point to both of our arguments. If you can prove that these are different people, I will concede defeat, but as an unfortunate avid listener to sports radio, I do not believe this is the case.

  17. Maybe I should bite my tongue then because I couldn't watch the game, was able to check the score every so often when my cell phone had reception. The score looked bad but I knew the defense was really bad going in and when I saw Cutler go down (along with Jeffery going out) I just assumed it was going to be an ugly blowout so I didn't get any angst that you would get from actually watching your favorite team get destroyed. Also, I do disagree with the 'different people calling in' thing. There are like a pool of 100 people that call into sports talk shows, these are definitely the same guys I heard all throughout training camp and preseason.
  18. They can't coach up scrubs and this defense is nothing but scrubs.
  19. Well its clear the defense, and team in general is bad, but a) we've played 2 really good offenses so far (I think Arizona with a healthy Palmer is a top 10 offense) and b) we've had several key injuries and c) given the quality of the coaching staff, I would be disappointed if the team doesn't improve as the season goes on So while they are giving up a [expletive] load of points per game, I would expect that to go down just because of the coaching staff and lesser quality competition. The may be a good offense, and I wouldn't have batted an eye at another low 30s output, but I thought our coaching was good enough to avoid that type of game. I don't think they are 48 point good (granted they scored twice outside of offense). Another 31-23 type loss would have kept me optimistic, even at 0-2. Never expected wins from this opening stretch. Well the defense gave up 34 points like you pointed out, 14 before Cutler went down, 20 after. When Cutler goes down, offensive drives get shorter, opponents get more possessions, weak defense has more time to be exposed. I couldn't watch any of the game because I was stuck in the backwoods of New Hampshire, but I'm assuming the offensive game plan was similar to GB, slow the game down, limit possessions, make opportune throws. If that's the case, that gets thrown out the window when you replace a slightly above average QB (having a pretty good game) with a terrible one.
  20. The way you phrase that suggests people are wrong to be upset. It's stupid to be accepting of a rebuilding season and then go all cubbievirus after 2 weeks when the Bears couldn't beat 2 of the best teams in football, one a close game and the other without their starting QB for half the game. If you are ok with a rebuilding year, understand that they are going to be terrible at times and expect/hope that they improve over 17 weeks.
  21. Not sure but since we need help pretty much everywhere it's worth rooting for the #1 pick. Remember the #1 pick is also the 33rd pick and the 65th pick, etc.
  22. They won't be embarrassed, they'll just draft 8th. Less than half their games end in double digit losses? No three game run of surrendering a combined 106 points? (As opposed to two last year). Probably more frustrating than embarrassing this year. So I said that two weeks ago. And I was thinking, that's 35 points a game! The threshold is 27. Granted it doesn't match last years two game run, but, yea I retract what I said. We're not frustrating, were embarrassing.
  23. Definitely an impressive stretch and I'm thrilled, just sucks a few key mistakes or strokes of misfortune (likely) cost us a chance to win the division.
  24. I love how in the preseason it seemed like the fan base was expecting a poor year and was accepting of a rebuilding season or so, etc. After 2 weeks the fans are calling into shows and talking about what a mess the Bears are and how its inexcusible, etc.
