  1. Guys looking at the radar, I'm not sure we'll get this one in
  2. Dammit I was really calm all day, felt like I wasn't excited enough but all the sudden the game stomach just hit me and I don't think its going away until 10pm at the earliest.
  3. Nothing like changing the entire way your team plays the game for #163. I understand it. This is one game in (I believe) a pitchers park going against a starter who is in a historically dominant run. I mean the last time the Pirates faced Jake it was a 2 hit shutout and he's dominated them all year. At some point you need to try a new approach when you absolutely have to win a game against him. Plus they have a (slightly less but still very) dominant pitcher going, they are confident he can limit the Cubs offense and make this a really low scoring game. But I also understand the Cubs offensive focus. You hope there is a little rust to start the game, try to jump on him early and then ride your God-mode pitcher to the NLDS.
  4. I knew there was a name or two missing. Sad for Aramis if the Pirates lose. Not that I give a [expletive] because that means the Cubs won
  5. When you win 3 in 6 years the novelty wears off a little. I would be all jacked up for the banner raising tonight if the Cubs weren't playing in the Wild Card game at the same time. :nhl: :flythew: Yeah, it has nothing to do with the novelty wearing off. More so that there's some kinda important baseball game going on at the same time as the Hawks game. In 2010 I honestly cannot remember why but I had to miss the banner ceremony and I was pissed. I think it was some stupid country concert that my wife bought tickets to back in like March...either way stupid. In 2013, I was reverse commuting from the city to Lisle, and it was a horrible traffic day and didn't get home until the very tail end of the ceremony. Now this year I won't even be flipping to it, I can't take my attention for even a second off the Cubs. I'll have missed the large majority of all 3....oh well we'll just have to win a 4th.
  6. I have that Tiesto song that Rizzo uses stuck in my head and I cannot find it anywhere. Anyone know what it's called?
  7. Just wish we had more above average 3 point shooters. With no one knowing how long Dunleavy will be out that leaves us with McDermott, Brooks and Mirotic (assuming last years numbers were a fluke) and I definitely don't think any of those 3 are elite All that said, many of the best teams in the league tend to shoot a ton of 3s so it's a step in the right direction for sure.
  8. The thing I love about this team is that in the second half, pretty much every series where I felt like it could have gone either way, the Cubs have come out with a bang. Examples: -big series in Pittsburgh coming off a 4 game sweep of the Brewers in early August, the Cubs score 3 runs in the first 3 innings and cruise to a 5-0 win -first game of the Giants series, the biggest series of the season to that point, the Cubs jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead setting the tone for a huge weekend -Although the road trip wasn't super successful, the Cubs start a big west coast trip in SF and jump out to a 8-0 lead and win -Big series in St Louis and the matchup is Lynn vs Haren, Cubs score 8 runs in the first 3 innings -the Cubs dropped the first in Pittsburgh but stormed back to win the next 3 -Cubs/Cards at Wrigley and the Cubs score 3 in the first en route to 8-3 win I am hoping for another quick start tomorrow -
  9. The Cubs are in the final 9!
  10. She said something fairly dumb earlier but I can't remember what it was. Other than that she's been pretty good.
  11. I obviously choose B but the meatball arguing with you would probably say that you never know if you are going to get back there, point to Nationals, etc and probably think that home field makes a huge difference even though it's like a 54/46 advantage for the average team, and not considering that the road team had the best road record in the league this year. But the biggest thing is that...the Cubs finished with 97 wins, the 3rd best record in baseball and a game behind the 2nd best. The Cubs are not playing a road wild card game because they didn't bring up Bryant right away...they are playing on the road in the wild card game because they had the misfortune of having the only 2 teams with better records than them happen to play in the same division.
  12. I can't believe Hinch seems to want to remove Keuchel after 5.2 IP and 86 pitches
  13. They are showing the championship video on NHL Network right now. Just started at 8:30
  14. You guys need to quit being scaredy ass bitches. You'll feel so [expletive] good when the Cubs win the play in game. It's not being scared, it's anticipation, anxiousness, being excited etc. or as Pat Hughes called it today "game stomach"
  15. Dammit get that Cubs/Pirates banner away from the cameras. This is supposed to be the game I relax and enjoy but every 2 seconds I see that banner and my stomach turns.
  16. I wouldn't mind a Yankees Royals series just because of their 70s/early 80s rivalry
  17. It still feels unnatural to see the Astros in the AL For some reason when the Brewers switched it felt natural from the start for me
  18. Well for you its win win. If they win you will see them in the NLDS, if they lose you wouldn't have wanted to be there anyways
  19. [expletive] the media for turning today into "omgz the Cubs could have had this game at Wrigley if they broke camp with Kris Bryant on the roster" day
  20. Dude Cutch, why you gotta be so cool? http://www.theplayerstribune.com/pirates-wild-card-postseason/ Just a brief quote from it:
  21. I can't even laugh because I feel like that's bad karma for our historically [expletive] on franchise this week.
  22. I hate these new MNF graphics. Looks like a design from the 90s and it takes up too much of the screen. I also hate that the graphics disappear as a play begins and reappear after it ends.
  23. Someone take over a country and name Jake king so Fred will allow it
