  1. I'm assuming there is not time to stretch him out to start and will be out of the pen correct?
  2. does anyone else find themselves clapping along? I love Castro http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2015/09/28/152047168/starlin-castros-catchy-walkup-song Yes, I credit people getting into this song and clapping as the reason Starlin turned his season around. You can't help but expect him to get a hit after that.
  3. Rizzo to keep his OPS over .900 (it's .901 now), and his batting average above .280 (I believe its at .278 entering today), and of course 100 RBIs.
  4. Yeah and I don't mind it but I wish the off days were on the road trip and not the home finale.
  5. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I thought Wood was quoted earlier this year saying that the club should welcome Sosa back. I stand corrected if true. There's not really that many people left in the organization that would have been personally upset with Sosa. Crane Kenney is the most prominent person I can think of still with the Cubs but I'm sure I'm missing someone.
  6. Dammit when I saw this bumped I was hoping someone posted news about Sammy throwing out the first pitch at a potential playoff game or something. I almost wonder if the clubs informal relationship with Kerry Wood has anything to do with not welcoming him back yet. As we all know, Kerry destroyed the boombox, so I'm guessing he was one of teammates that couldn't stand him. Perhaps the organization wants him back but really wants Sammy to publicly grovel, so that it doesn't look to guys like Woody and Lee and other former Sosa teammates the team has a relationship with like they are just caving in.
  7. I believe my first game at Wrigley was against the Phillies in early April I want to say 1991. It was snowing out which is all I remember about the game.
  8. This has to be the first inter league game where both teams have already clinched playoff spots thus having a legit shot at being a WS preview There are interleague matchups everyday now so I bet in the last few years there have been a couple. Yes but almost all teams clinch with in the last 10 days or so of the season, meaning there are only like 2-3 interleague series each year. And this is the 3rd year they've had interleague year round. I'll dig to see. Looking at the last 3 series of the season 2013: Giants @ Yankees (neither team qualified for playoffs), Red Sox @ Rockies (Red Sox already clinched, Rockies DNQ), Tigers @ Marlins (Tigers already clinched, Marlins DNQ) 2014: Phillies @ A's (Phillies DNQ, A's had not cliched playoffs yet), Diamondbacks @ Twins (neither team qualified), Astros @ Mets (neither team qualified)
  9. Here's another one: Jake could give up 5 ER in 3 IP against Milwaukee (more ER than he's allowed in his last 11 starts) and still finish the season with an ERA under 2.
  10. Getting Ratliff, Jay and Alshon (I heard he's expected to play this week) could make our team look a ton better.
  11. I don't want to screw up draft slot but I really want the Bears to get a win out of the way so that I don't have to worry about going 0-16. I know I know as bad as they've been they aren't a 0-16 team, but umm just prove that as soon as possible.
  12. Not gonna happen but Giants are 6 games behind the Dodgers with 7 to play. But the next 4 games for both teams are against each other in SF. Would make things super interesting if the Giants swept. Any Dodger win clinches the division. Yes I know unlikely but I'll be cheering for the Giants this week to do the impossible
  13. This has to be the first inter league game where both teams have already clinched playoff spots thus having a legit shot at being a WS preview
  14. If Jake gives up 10 ER without recording an out against the Brewers this week, his ERA in the second half of the season would still be 1.69
  15. I just worry that were are at the beginning of a 2000s Lions like run. I know that in the NFL turnarounds can happen overnight. But there are also franchises that go on long runs of ineptitude like Oakland, Jacksonville, etc. The fact is we don't have very much talent at all. And we don't seem to be getting talent. I was really hoping to see some guys emerge. Man they don't even have to be superstars, I'd be happy with a Henry Melton emerging on this defense. The other issue is that even if you are good at drafting when you need significant help in many areas it can several years to get enough to be respectable. Hopefully I look back on this post and laugh in 2 years but it seems a bit hopeless at the moment
  16. For some reason 95-67 sounds infinitely cooler than 94-68. No idea why
  17. 90 wins for just the second time in the last 26 years!
  18. 1) this is the worst umped game ever. 2) how did Starlin go from worst position player in the majors to super stud in the blink of an eye? Is it really a matter of a simple adjustment?
  19. Whut. I really want a Game 163 between the Cardinals and Pirates So you're really going to be that "I'm rooting for the Cubs to lose" guy? Really trying hard to prove he's not a Cardinals fan these days.
  20. Thanks for everything ARam! If that was your last AB at Wrigley Field, you went out helping the Cubs which is much appreciated
  21. Well that's one way to avoid struggling with runners on
  22. Yeah I'm on board with this thought. I think it would clinch the Cy young and scare the [expletive] out of the Pirates as well
