  1. The conspiracy theorist in me says this is a 'make up deal' for ripping off Beane so badly last time.
  2. winning is awesome but lets be honest, he wasn't likely in the Cubs plans as I'm sure they want their 4th OF to be a good fielder, not one that is pretty much as bad as Schwarber and Soler may be. This is a win for Coghlan. He will get the chance to play everyday in Oakland, if he hits good he will be a FA and get his one and only chance for a payday. If he hits really good, contenders will be probably be interested in him at the deadline and he could play out his last arb year with a contender. For the Cubs, it has to be a straight dump...I probably valued Coghlan a little too much as I thought a 2 win player who is only 30 could get at least a slight better return than this Aaron Brooks guy.
  3. I'm guessing Coghlan wanted it. Probably wants to play every day. Yuuuuuuuup. He was making rumblings along those lines for a while now. Yeah and I believe was the only major no show at Cubs Convention. I'm guessing Theo privately told him they would trade him. Frankly he deserves it, just not with us.
  4. Now who is going to chuck up bricks in DRose's absence?
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] Damn, I was hoping they'd put Baez against Lackey
  6. Create a thread and see who is interested, ill give it a go.
  7. I missed the first one but I did a triple take when I saw the second one. Couldn't believe that was Doug. Kid is definitely starting to get some confidence in his game.
  8. Man I really hope the committee is open to taking 7 Big Ten teams because Wisconsin has their spot pretty much locked up
  9. That and he had an entire offseason to get to know the team he would be coaching. I honestly think its just him having a senior moment, of which he's had plenty lately.
  10. he done lost his mind
  11. I'm sick of hearing them talk about it. My unfounded fear is that Theo wants to wait until the end of the season and if the Cubs win the World Series he will leave. I hope he doesn't but I remember his thing about staying in one place too long when he signed on with the Cubs.
  12. More from Pace (he's speaking at the Combine) [tweet] [/tweet] Can't wait to read one day how 38 year old Shea McClellen's best days are ahead of him despite not being on an active roster for the better part of a decade
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] I don't like where this is headed as I don't think there is any leverage gained in negotiations by threatening to let him go to FA. Edit: I will say that I took the scarier of the 2 tweets. The one before said that the Bears are actively negotiating with Alshon
  14. i was driving in and heard it and i couldn't stop myself from texting in I almost drove off the road when they came to the conclusion that the Cubs gained 10 spots in the draft by signing Heyward and letting Fowler go.
  15. Bruce Levine just said it Gallardo doesn't sign the Cubs get the 14th pick in the draft. thank you score baseball expert
  16. I watched a little bit of the game on Sunday. Seemed like he was driving to the rim a lot more which obviously is what you want to see from him. It is interesting that he seems to have started looking like the old Rose again once Butler went out. I'm sure part of it is coincidental based on him finally getting over the face injury.
  17. Yes that inning changed me from being thinking "omg the Cardinals are going to pixie dust us into a series win" into "we're gonna win this thing" *prays I didnt say anything stupid in the game threads to dispute this* I was at Busch for that. Their fans were in full incredulous meltdown mode to the tune of "How can the CUBS do THIS to US?" I can only imagine. Things go to script for decades and then all the sudden they don't and its jarring.
  18. hmm and what is the thing that the White Sox and Bulls have in common? (Besides their little academy)
  19. it'll be kinda anticlimactic for me on that end. i don't think that can get better than watching their reaction to literally getting donged into space in the playoffs. this x100
  20. Yes that inning changed me from being thinking "omg the Cardinals are going to pixie dust us into a series win" into "we're gonna win this thing" *prays I didnt say anything stupid in the game threads to dispute this*
  21. I don't know why they aren't trading Votto. He's 32 but still probably has the most value of anyone on last years Reds and because of his age isn't going to be on the next good Reds team
  22. Yup, 1-3 now. And Jan 2, 2017 another at Busch Stadium. I have complete outdoor game fatigue. I didn't even watch yesterday, just followed on my phone just like any other game where I had something to do during it. And now another one? Blah. It is fun watching Wild and now Blues fans get excited about their outdoor games while Hawks fans are completely indifferent.
  23. [tweet] [/tweet]
  24. [tweet] [/tweet] Jesus, does he have a back injury or ALS?
  25. Matt Murton, Manny Parra, David Ross. Now we just need a 2007 Cardinal and Pirate to complete the collection.
