  1. Yep, this feels very similar to Antonio Pierce with the Raiders last year. Players got the coach fired, loved the interim and demanded him. They hired him and the Raiders suck this year. Of course the Bears don’t have Minshew lined up at starting QB but still. I think there’s a higher chance than you hope that Brown is the HC next year.
  2. Apparently no further media availability today
  3. My only concern here is that Thomas Brown goes like 3-2 and the Bears hire him without even having a coaching search. Nothing against Thomas Brown and I'm open to him as a candidate but they have a very attractive situation for a top HC to come into. They should have their pick of the litter.
  4. Had to do one more strange dysfunctional thing before they finally canned the coach in season
  5. I was floored when I heard him say that. It’s complete insult to our intelligence to that what we saw out there was handled correctly. Especially with Caleb saying he ended up changing the play call after he received it. Doesn’t sound like something that was happened the right way. Based on what I’m reading, they wanted to run a similar play as the one they called before, just with people blocking this time, a QB draw. They were at about 58 yard FG distance at that point so while it’s possible Caleb breaks off a decent chunk (keeping in mind the most he can run is maybe 10 yards given the time constraints), you’re probably looking at a 3-5 yard gain. So this great plan Eberflus cooked up was having Santos try a 53-55 yard FG, close to his career long. So Caleb was right to change out of the play ASAP but not sure Caleb made the right decision to take a full drop back and throw the ball short of the end zone. Should have been looking for a 8-10 yard pass and a quick timeout.
  6. There’s a world out there where Eberflus is 4-1 against the Lions as head coach 2022 home: bears blow a 24-10 lead with 12 mins left in the game and lose 31-30 on a missed XP. This was the first of Eberflus’ infamous 85%+ win probability loss games 2022 road: lose 41-10 2023 road: bears blow a 26-14 lead with 3 minutes left to lose 31-26 2023 home: actually win 28-13 2024 road: todays debacle All of these games are after the Lions started playing like world beaters. We’ve actually played them extremely well but Eberflus has completely botched 3 of them
  7. Harbaugh wouldn’t have come to Chicago anyways. The word from Michigan sources is his wife really wanted to return to California and that was a driver in his decision to return to the NFL. But I do agree that the McCaskeys would never hire him
  8. Source is by no means reliable but If I share these Twitter reports enough maybe it will actually happen Honestly the postgame stuff was almost as damning as the stuff in game. Players openly taking shots at Eberflus combined with Eberflus doubling down on his decisions and taking no accountability. Just an awful look for him.
  9. Warren is not really a football guy. If Poles wants to fire his coach why stand in his way of doing his job?
  10. I don’t even think you need a coach of Harbaugh’s caliber to be 8-4 right now. A replacement level coach has them at least 6-6 or 7-5 right now.
  11. probably shouldn’t give this douchebag any attention but I found this hilarious. Still doubling down on his idiocy
  12. Unbelievable lack of accountability from that moron
  13. There are rumors that Warren wanted Flus fired in the offseason but left the decision to Poles and he kept him. Basically doubled down on him. At some point wins and losses matter even if you started your tenure with 2 tank seasons (or especially if you started your tenure with 2 tank seasons). He made it clear this was the team he built to compete and the result is a team that will have a worse record than last year largely because the coach he kept keeps leading his team to last minute losses. I do hate the idea of doing an organizational overhaul every 3 years and want some stability but with Caleb looking elite you absolutely need to do everything possible to support him. If Poles isn’t getting it done and built an oline that has him getting crushed every week and keeping coaches who are inspiring no confidence, then perhaps you need to replace the GM too
  14. Was that hands to the face call at the end legit? That was obviously a killer call against the Bears. Instead of 1st and 10 from the 13 with 40 seconds left and a TO, it’s 1st and 20 from the 35. If that penalty isn’t call there’s a good chance we’re happily celebrating a feel good Thanksgiving victory over the now 10-2 Lions. It’s mind boggling how many games we’ve lost by extremely narrow margins without winning any. we are a cursed franchise. I’m going to guess that no NFL team has ever experienced anything like this over a 6 week stretch
  15. that locker room is completely lost
  16. You can absolutely pick holes in any suggested option for what to do differently. Like I said there are no optimal suggestions here. But what played out was the clear worst possible outcome. also different conversation but it would have been nice if the Bears didn’t burn that second TO to prevent a delay of game (I think that’s what happened right?)
  17. If they were going to call a TO it would have been around 18 seconds when Caleb is frantically waving his hands around trying to get the play call. Once you get to 10 seconds or whatever you just have to run a quick out and hope there’s time left. But even if they do get down to 6 seconds yes a TO is still a better call. Caleb clearly couldn’t process the situation correctly. Call a TO, run an out play hoping there’s time left afterwards to take a shot at the end zone. Literally anything is better than what happened.
  18. Like in a 2 minute drill do the Bears not seriously have a default quick pass play call drilled into them and at the ready? Should Caleb have even needed a play call to be called in? That’s where a lot of the time was wasted as it seems like Caleb was trying to understand the play call. Just run a quick 8 yard out play or something. Anything at all that gains you 7+ yards probably puts you in FG range. In a 2 minute drill I don’t know how Caleb doesn’t have those plays immediately ready
  19. There are no great options in that situation but the option they took which is running the clock down to 3 seconds and then throwing a pass down the middle short of the end zone is the worst possible one. Calling a time out is not great at all for the reasons you’ve mentioned but giving them a chance to take a breath and draw something up is better than a frazzled Caleb processing everything on the fly
  20. I’m still hopelessly confused at what just happened? This goes beyond normal botching of game situations. It defies all logic. It’s beyond comprehension
  21. Yes Caleb didn’t help at all there but that’s on the coach
  22. That is the dumbest thing that I’ve ever seen in a football game in my life. I cannot make sense of this at all. Like who horsefeathered up? Caleb could have called a TO. Eberflus could have called a time out. Nothing about this makes any sense. I’m so confused. 5 mins ago the bears had a 1st down at the 13 with 40 seconds left and a chance to win. And somehow it led to this. I’m so confused
