  1. Cubs to their fans: Here's your drama for the day....and now it's over
  2. That was so much like the playoff series. Squeeze bunt leads to an error at first and everyone safe followed by another squeeze bunt by the pitcher. If Fowler gets an IF single here and Heyward hits a bomb to CF...
  3. I'm starting to wonder how much of Javys power went away due to reworking his swing to be less violent. 1 HR in 95 PA between this year and last year. 2 in 110 PA if you include playoffs. I wish I had that article from 2014 that explained how his terrific power was because of the violent swing, but because it was so fast he couldn't control his bat in the zone. By slowing down the swing some it could allow him more control over his swing but would significantly zap his power.
  4. Seriously. He's as good at sliding as Lester is at pickoff throws
  5. I thought he wasn't going to head first slide anymore?
  6. Its honestly something worse than shame. You have almost 60,000 posts on a Cubs message board and you claim to have fallen asleep when your teams pitcher is 3 outs from a no hitter. And that game was played in ET, so this was probably 10 PM your time at the latest. I can understand if you have to get up early for work and that requires you to be sleeping before 10, but in your own words, you were awake for the first 8 innings, knew there was a no hitter going on, and still somehow fell asleep during the most exciting part.
  7. It's awesome that Maddon can take 2 spots on the field, and give 3 guys the ability to play 2/3rds of the time (Javy, Soler, Russell) so it probably feels much like being a full time starter.
  8. Bettman spoke out about Foley's comments today saying they were off the mark. Also McDonough called him to say that he was not happy with what Foley said. Come on you morons, don't run Foley out of town again.
  9. It happens in the NBA too. The Warriors-Rockets game was at 8:30 last night, even though Houston's in the central time zone. It just comes with being in the Western Conference -- I don't think it's that big of a deal. As much as I'd like to rag on the NHL for being stupid about something, I don't think they are in this case. Maybe the Hawks should petition to move to the East if they don't like the late start times? Houston is in the central, but Golden State is in the pacific. It makes more sense than a stl/chi game, two central teams, kicking off even later than that basketball game. Plus the NHL is in more need of growing itself. Not only that but this isn't a single game starting at 8:42 for 2 CT teams. 60% of the games in the series have started this late, 2 of the 3 of those late games coming on weeknights. I can handle a single game starting that late, it happens. I can easily handle it if my team is playing a pacific based team.
  10. I feel like only teams that haven't been known as choke artists and have actually won something can say something that cocky.
  11. Oh man this is great [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo] This would have been the Bulls if they had made it
  12. but you'd have to play every game in olde timey garb like the conan skit Link because I love this skit [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  13. I find it hilarious that Elliot thinks that every goal the Hawks score is a result of goalie interference. We may be getting into his head.
  14. I'm surprised you say that. He has done some dumb stuff and could be seen as more of a goon/nuisance than a hockey player at times, but he's also contributed some memorable hockey moments as well. Two off the top of my head were scoring 2 goals in game 6 against the Ducks while the Hawks were facing elimination, and the GWG (aka "I love shin pads") in Game 1 against Boston.
  15. Dude you posted on here last night after the game ended
  16. That was incredible. Kane just decided "horsefeathers this I'm ending it". He was all over the place in 2OT. Glad I stayed up. We were terrible tonight but we live to fight another day
  17. Only +17 in their last 7 games? They are slacking.
  18. This reminds me of OT in game 6 against Vancouver. Offense is non existant, puck possession is non existant, clearing the puck is an impossible task. Eventually the Hawks won in a Ben smith garbage goal
  19. I was waiting for the Blues to score and have a 3rd goal removed because of offsides
  20. Add to that inexplicably ill timed penalties
  21. Yeah this Hawks team does not have many of the same qualities that made them champions. They might lose 2 games when leading coming into the 3rd in a 5 game series when they hadn't lost one in regulation in 2 years. They blew a 2 goal lead in the 3rd in an elimination game. So not like the Hawks. They aren't possessing the puck, they aren't clearing it. Just not the Hawks I've watched the last 7 years
