  1. Got a chuckle out of this http://www.theonion.com/article/cubs-fans-cautiously-optimistic-after-jake-arrieta-52829
  2. Is Cahill on this team in August?
  3. With 16 baserunners in 6 innings, we really should have more than 7 runs scored #FirstPlaceProblems
  4. I've never really used Gameday to follow Cubs games until this year. I now know the exhilarating period between seeing 'In play run(s)' and when you find out how and how many runs. It could be a grand slam, it could be an error, it could be a sac fly, etc. Of course today its been grounders that have somehow dont end up as GIDP
  5. yes but think about our run differential championship
  6. I think he's a solid color guy. At what exactly? Coloring books mostly
  7. Good thing we've still got depth?
  8. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO He was 2 outs from the home inning scoreless streak
  9. 8 and 1 in the last inning of his start against Colorado...what a worthless pitcher
  10. He's a pitcher that wants to dominate the strike zone (well I guess most pitchers are). If he isn't 100% on he's going to miss and walk guys. But he's still not giving up hits, and when he's giving up hits not many of them are extra bases.
  11. Jake has given up 9 walks (and 1 hit) in his last 14 innings pitched
  12. I love how Jake is so good at people are concerned when hes walked 4 guys, even though he hasn't given up a run in 22 innings.
  13. He's probably just going through a period where he's not completely locked in. It happens even to demigods
  14. Haha, Jungmann has thrown more pitches through 2 than Jake despite Jake's 1st inning.
  15. In terms of the eye test, his bat looked extremely slow to me last year, so I was pretty convinced it was old age.
  16. Probably. He's got fewer than 600 ABs above high A. He's probably not ready. https://twitter.com/CarrieMuskat/status/725729090771111936
  17. Nah I think someone said that the Brewers and Cubs have a common off day the day before the next series at Wrigley in August
  18. Is the issue that he needs more work behind the plate, they don't want to rush his development, or they don't want to start his service clock?
  19. Also... [tweet]https://twitter.com/CarrieMuskat/status/725717434863374336[/tweet] Have you ever heard of a guy heading to the DL being the emergency catcher just in case his replacement can't make it on time?
  20. What do we know about Federowicz? -28 years old -Career .547 OPS in 271 PA over 4 seasons with LA -In his short time in the majors he was worth 1.2 wins defensively (according to BR) and -0.9 wins offensively. -Only had 101 PA last year, all in the minors, with a slash line of .202/.257/.383/.640 -Has a .940 OPS is 41 PA this year at Iowa -Is not Montero, Schwarber or Contreras
  21. [tweet] [/tweet]
  22. I don't know what I'm talking about either but from what I've read about Lawson, he's a high floor, low ceiling guy. I'd rather take a gamble and pick someone with an all-pro ceiling.
