  1. Looks like the Sox DFA'd Danks like 3 years too late
  2. I ride or die with Beilein but what the heck is going on over there. What a strange offseason, 4 transfers, mini-scandal with Spike being refused the right to transfer in the Big Ten, 2 assistants leaving, losing out on that grad transfer we wanted. Maybe nothing is going on, you can make understandable cases for everyone leaving (Spike no PT, Doyle semi forced out/not great fit with Mo's rise late, Dawkins playing with dad, Kam not living up to his top 50 recruit hype, the assistant coaches took HC jobs), but it seems strange that its all happening at once.
  3. they struggled against the press last year. Spike will help that. Sad he ended up at another Big Ten school but I suppose it was always pretty likely.
  4. "+The basic formula is 25% team winning percentage, 50% opponents' average winning percentage, and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage." Reading is tough for me, thanks
  5. Probably at some point in the late 90s (wasn't the Wood 20K game a sparsely attended one?), but your point is well-made nonetheless. We did have a game in those dark dark days of 2013 (September vs the Marlins) that got as low as 20,696. I wonder if that's the lowest since 2000 or maybe early in 01...I'm guessing the tide officially turned on that in like 01. I looked this morning, we had ~18,500 to a game in early 2002. I think 2003 was the start of the modern era of Cub fandom, but even then under 20k at a game was a rare well into the 90s
  6. The Cubs must be getting good because I am into power rankings and offense at being slighted by them again. But seriously, this one is math based right? http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/rpi The Cubs are 3rd behind the 2nd place White Sox (RD +25, SOS slightly better, expected WL would put them 4 GB Cubs) and.....the 15-11 Philadelphia Phillies with a run differential of -23, expected WL of 10-16, and 15-11 overall record after getting smashed by the Cardinals last night.
  7. Stupid Matt Murton getting hurt so I can't bitch about him not getting the call up.
  8. More BucsDugout: Is this implying that the Cubs fans are bandwagoners? If so, that's an awfully rich claim on a night when the paid attendance was 18,000 last night. When is the last time the Cubs had a paid attendance of 18,000? The 80s?
  9. Which is funny because he has no idea how to slide. Did you already forget his game winning slide last week? Yes I remember, I just also remember the multiple times he's injured himself or otherwise made himself look silly while sliding.
  10. Which is funny because he has no idea how to slide.
  11. http://www.bucsdugout.com/2016/5/2/11572334/pregame-cubs-come-to-town-for-big-err-non-routine-series I'm surprised you didn't post the next blurb about the Pirates player watching the Cubs-Braves game on TV and outwardly acting annoyed seeing the Cubs score 5 runs in the 8th to win. We're in their heads and its only May.
  12. The wrist thing worries me a bit because my observation is that sometimes wrist injuries can last a long time and can zap a hitters power if it hurts enough.
  13. Might make sense if both are out for a few days. Someone has to play RF
  14. Carrie got into the minibar again. She just cant help herself.
  15. More like white trash aka "kid rock"
  16. On a lesser team Grimmer would have already had a shot to close. On this team he's our 7th inning guy
  17. Don't believe the David hype. i don't even understand the sentimental castro love faction. he was REALLY bad for a couple of years, he never had the type of game most of us like (he didn't walk OR dong...he was basically really good at being a slappy hitter with an occasional hint of pop), he loved to do embarrassing things in the field (and none of what i said takes away from the fact that at other times he was a pretty good young player too), oh, and there was that whole might be a rapist thing that nobody seems to care about anymore. Ignoring the rapist thing as much as I can, as well as the fact that people get shot in his vicinity, there are a couple of reasons why I love him. 1) he came up during a period when the Cubs could not really produce position players from their system, it was awesome to see us have a young guy with skies the limit potential 2) hitting a 3 run bomb in his first ab, endearing moment 3) he was really the only thing to be mildly excited about for a couple of years. He dealt with a lot of horsefeathers years here and didn't complain like others *cough*Samardzija*cough* 4) he just seemed like a fun loving guy overall, his teammates seemed to like him 5) he created the helmet rub which was awesome 6) the clapping song
  18. How will the Cubs do again last good pitching? Oh just 15 base runners in 6.1 IP
  19. These teams really don't like each other.
  20. Still love Starlin but with him struggling a bit after a hot start, I can embrace Warren and say that he's a pretty swell guy.
  21. I can't believe that worked as perfectly as it did
  22. This is why we got Zobrist (well one of the reasons) Good contact w a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs
