  1. Less than an hour to sign Alshon and there doesn't appear to be much smoke on twitter so I'm guessing he'll be playing on the tag.
  2. a) It wasn't thrown to a great spot but it was a rocket b) we have very very low expectations in terms of shutting down the run game Like Len said, that was the first baserunner that has been thrown out with Hendricks on the mound this year so obviously he did something right there.
  3. 3 pitches in the strike zone in that AB, yet Desmond walks on a 3-1 count Won't complain though because Javy should have struck out a couple pitches before his RBI single in the previous inning according to the Cubs Strike Zone twitter thing.
  4. He's decided to sit out the rest of the year to keep his value steady going into FA.
  5. Yeah just thought it was weird that he went on a rehab assignment a week ago, he was still a possibility to play in the ASG as recently as saturday, and the Cubs were careful to say that there was no setback.
  6. Per Jesse Rogers 15 minutes ago: So basically the 'we didnt even need to put him on the DL' injury will last at least 30 days
  7. No matter how ineffecitve Cahill has been lately, I still somehow trust him more than Richard, Patton and maybe even Grimm
  8. Yeah sorry Miggy you are no longer needed, even for twitter [tweet]https://twitter.com/noslliw19/status/753969007917666305[/tweet]
  9. Imaginary injury putting Cahill on the DL? Good thing about pushing Jake and Lester to next week is you can go 4 more games before having to make a roster decision with Ross coming off the concussion DL, although its almost certainly Kawasaki going back to Iowa. Edit: Nevermind i see that Ross was activated as well and Kawaski optioned. I guess you can't let guys hang out too long on the Concussion DL
  10. Vogelbach is not in their top 10? Seems strange This is the first time in awhile that I've seen a Cubs prospect list and felt like it was a bit light. Gleyber and Eloy are really good prospects but far away. Our number 6 guy hasnt played this year, number 7 guy hasn't played above short season and might have another significant arm issue.
  11. Yes it was widely reported 10 days ago that he would sign there.
  12. Hmm, great question. I think there's a difference between "out/hit" and "hit/home run". This is what I mean...the ball has to land in your glove on a fly for it to be a fly out. Like you said, you cannot catch a ball for an out that hits off the wall and into your glove without hitting the ground. So basically as soon as the ball hits the wall, you cannot record a fly out, it will be a hit (assuming a miracle force out). Now that we've established that this is a hit, you have to determine whether the ball lands in the field of play or is a home run. I'm pretty sure I've seen balls hit off the top of the wall and go over for a HR. I've also seen balls that hit off the very top of the wall and bounce back into play for a regular hit. We've also seen plays like a ball hitting Jose Canseco on the head and bouncing over for a HR. So my guess based on this logic is that, however improbable it is, a ball that hits off the wall, off a person and over the wall should be a home run. I have no idea if that's right or if there is even a rule for this, but that would be my guess. Edit: AKA what Banedon said in about 200 less words
  13. Who plays in the majors sooner Shelby or Swanson?
  14. If I had to bring one college rule over to the NBA, it would be making the "bonus" 1-and-1, and then super bonus for 2 shots. Not sure how they'd make that work with the NBA being quarters vs. halves in college but I love 1-and-1's
  15. That sounds like an awful idea. Despite your well reasoned argument, I remain unconvinced. I don't know, I like being able to move the ball up to midcourt with a timeout in the last minutes of games. I hate in college where a team down by a basket with less than 2 seconds left has virtually no shot at tying the game. Also I don't want games decided by a team not being able to inbound the ball. I get that the teams deserve to lose if they cant run an inbounds play, or if they are trailing with not enough time left to get upcourt, but being able to call a TO to benefit makes the game more exciting. I hate how the last minutes take forever in the NBA but I think its a necessary evil.
  16. Darvish vs Hammel doesn't seem fair
  17. Saw his quote in a story about the Nats. Cubs hate is strong around the MLB
