  1. I think Ross should hand the title of 'Grandpa' over to Zobrist.
  2. Soler has been gone just long enough that most of the early season struggles have been erased from my memory and he's been reset back to 'awesome young prospect ready to breakout' in my mind.
  3. def weird considering zobrist's splits this year are nearly even Maybe sort of makes sense. Zobs is hitting under .200 since the end of May and given his age, resting him often during the second half to keep him fresh makes sense. That said, I'd rather the resting to occur after Fowler and/or Soler gets back so we don't have Szczur, Almora, Ross and Lester anchoring the bottom of the lineup.
  4. Javy Reporter: Javy can you confirm the rumor that you slept with Albert Almora's wife during his recent call up? Javy: Who?
  5. ok whats up with Zobrist, 2 straight days off within 2 days of the ASB ending.
  6. Their list is Lindor, Carrasco or Kluber
  7. cashman's peons have no idea who the [expletive] dave kaplan is tho Jimbo throws a donut at you for that. You had me until you suggested that Jimbo would waste a delicious pastry like that.
  8. Kap on his show just said that he spoke to someone with intimate knowledge of the Yankees FO thinking and says the 3 players that they'd be willing to accept for Miller are Schwarber, Baez or Russell Also, Rosenthal said Miller is the Indians top trade target.
  9. Maybe but also have to factor in that the Giants and Nats are also looking for LH relief help. My guess is that plus the Yankees trying to leverage the 'we're the yankees and we don't sell' nonsense will result in whoever gets Miller to overpay by quite a bit to get him. Theo is too smart for that, thus my guess is that we're not going to get him.
  10. [/spoil] It's hilarious. Cubs fans rightly think its ridiculous to trade a guy with several years of cheap control who would be on pace for 44 HR over 162 games as a rookie for a 31 yo reliever with 1.5 years left who can impact a season for 80 innings a year. Yankees fans for some reason think it's ridiculous because...why? Because he tore his ACL? If he doesn't tear his ACL there wouldn't even be a discussion because no one would even think to throw out a Schwarber for Miller trade. Now its still extremely ridiculous but because of the supposed risk of coming back from the injury, it is on the very fringes of a suggestible discussion (while still being insanely ridiculous).
  11. As a kid, I originally called myself a Sox fan, but that was before I had any real interest in sports. I just knew they were good. I'll admit the same. I watched the 93-95 Sox as much as I watched the Cubs and idolized Frank Thomas, who is still one of my favorite players despite the White Sox uniform. At the end of 1995 though the .500ish Cubs went on a winning streak toward the end of the season and were alive for the WC on the last weekend, I went to 2 of games of that final series vs. Houston and for some reason that pushed me over the edge for the Cubs. By 97, I was at the Cell for the first Cubs/Sox series rooting hard for the Cubs. I would probably not have much of a dislike at all for the Sox if it wasn't for their fans. I have yet to meet a Sox fan who finds out I'm a Cubs fan and doesnt' immediately start spewing hatred for all things Cub. Meanwhile, I give them the 'I really don't have anything against the Sox' line which pisses them off even more.
  12. Keep reading articles about how much Cashman wants Kyle Schwarber and seems desperate to land him as he believes he would be a 50 HR guy at Yankees Stadium as a lefty. I, like some here, would have a really hard time letting Schwarbs go. But everyone has their price. What would it take for the Yankees to offer for you to be willing to part with him? Would you trade him for Miller AND Chapman? How about Miller, Chapman and Aaron Judge? Or maybe a top pitching prospect instead of Judge?
  13. I know it's better the Pirates lose, but I hate knowing we drop to the 3rd seed in the NL playoffs if Washington wins
  14. Nope but we've had 3 Cubs hit at least 35 in a season (2004 w Alou, ARam and Sammy)
  15. Not gonna win many when KB and Riz combine for 1-8, 5K
  16. No shame in winning 2/3 vs the Rangers if that's what happens. But if that's the case I demand 2/3 from the Mets with Lester jake and Hendricks going
  17. Would that have been a 2 run double if it gets through?
  18. Will give Lackey credit where credit is due, he's settled down nicely after a rough start in his last 2 outings. I'd prefer he avoided the early implosions but you can't complain with 7 IP 3 ER from your 4th starter
  19. I know the whole "they are great pitchers so your supposed to struggle" but I'd love to see the Cubs get 4-5 runs off a TOR starter. We did it earlier in the year but since that Nats series we've been shut down pretty consistently (yesterday was promising). Again not the end of the world, but if this is the type of pitcher we're going to be facing 80% of the time in October I want a confidence boost by getting to one.
  20. And the next guy on 4 straight. Get your horsefeathers together Lackey
  21. Gotta love going ahead 0-2 on the lead off guy and then walking him on 4 straight pitches
  22. Can't hit good pitching #randombloggerguy
  23. I'm not watching, game day says almora didn't score? Edit: disregard it just changed
