  1. Which Chicago offense will do worse today? Neck and neck so far
  2. PFF graded Rodgers game as the lowest rated game of his career last night. Would be so awesome to see him randomly fall off a cliff performance wise at age 32.
  3. Greetings from beautiful Oakbrook Terrace, IL! Welcome to Garbage Time Theater! http://i.imgur.com/7gpWHHc.jpg The Cubs celebrated a division title on Friday and were obviously hung over the entire weekend. But that's cool, I'm sure those Brewer players are thrilled to have a story to tell their grandchildren about the time they smashed the mighty Cubs mercilessly. Kids love fairy tales. As the Cubs have done all year when in need of a victory, they turn to their stopper. http://i.imgur.com/Nn7vV5X.jpg Hammel has a 6.75 ERA in his last 3 starts, but his last one was sort of decent 4th starterish with 5.2 IP of 3 run ball. He will get 3 more starts in before he gets to enjoy the month of October from the dugout bench. That's ok, he totally didn't want to pitch in the postseason anyways. CUBS are 94-55 (.631) overall CUBS are 14-4 (.778) on Mondays CUBS are 9-8 (.529) in September CUBS are 10-3 (.769) vs. Cincinnati CUBS are 41-22 (.651) vs. NL Central CUBS are 7-4 (.636) when they've lost their last 2 games CUBS are 36-12 (.750) in games that begin a series CUBS are 51-29 (.638) at night CUBS are 52-23 (.693) on the road CUBS are 66-38 (.635) vs right handers CUBS are 16-12 (.571) when Hammel starts Go CUBS !!
  4. I can't remember, did App State get ranked after they beat Michigan or did they just get a lot of votes but not quite top 25? I tend to block a lot of that early season out of my head
  5. The thing that worries me about Zobrist is his age. Am I suggesting that he all the sudden on May 31st realized he was 35 and hit accordingly? No but I do worry that he might grind down over a season and doesn't have another gear as we get to this part of year. Last year he hit well in the playoffs but missed a big chunk of the season with injuries. Joe has done a great job of getting him ample rest as the season has gone on but it hasn't seemed to get him going strong. And yes I'd much rather them be slumping now then in 2 weeks. They are for the most part young and very good so a slump shouldn't last an obnoxiously long period. If anything we should be happy they are slumping now as that would likely mean they will be getting hot at the right time. I probably have irrational PTSD from 2008, when similar to how this year is playing out they had a September OPS that was ~.050 lower than any other month that year, had the same thoughts about slumping at the right time to get hot for playoffs and...well it didn't really work out. Just have to keep reminding myself that this team is different and has repeatedly proven why it is different over the last 2 seasons.
  6. In the first half you had Fowler and Zobrist hitting for power. I think I saw on Twitter Zobrist has a .368 slugging since May and I don't have the numbers on Fowler but considering his OPS dropped from close to .900 when he came back from injury to around .800 now and his OBP is still in the 380s I'd guess his slugging has gone way down too. All it takes though is one guy getting hot along with normal Rizzo and Bryant and we're looking good. Last year Bryant and Rizzo were both somewhat cold in the playoffs (right?) and they were picked up by Schwarber, Soler and somewhat Fowler through the NLDS
  7. Dammit Bryant and Rizzo both have poor ABs and K with the tying run on base.
  8. Damn Bryant. Would have loved a clutch hit there. Come on Rizzo
  9. Screw this series except the part we walked off and then celebrated all night
  10. Never thought I'd say this but it feels like forever since Wood pitched
  11. Considering some people aren't taking him seriously as a strong Cy young candidate despite him leading the world in ERA by almost a half run, his margin is razor thin is all. The second comment was overreactionary. I'm just UMFan83 Well there you go. Why even need to ask what's wrong with me lol
  12. I saw this and assumed he had given up like six runs in the second inning or something. The horsefeathers is wrong with you? Considering some people aren't taking him seriously as a strong Cy young candidate despite him leading the world in ERA by almost a half run, his margin is razor thin is all. The second comment was overreactionary. I'm just bored of the mediocre team offensive numbers in September
  13. Bye bye cy young Kyle Hendricks? I know these games are meaningless but you are paid for 162 games guys haha
  14. I can't get over the fact that there are still over 2 weeks left in the season. Not used to all this idle time unless it's because the Cubs are terrible
  15. Don't they usually air it after the last wgn game of the season? There's 2 full weeks left, time for more excting Cubs action
  16. The Cubs won 23 straight Arrieta starts. Since that streak ended, they've gone 9-10 in his starts
  17. Could be decent if they can get some pitching. 3rd is not an outrageous reach
  18. So we score 3 runs before making the first out and then don't score again despite wind blowing heavily out. Yep definitely hung over
  19. [expletive] we still care about RD right?
  20. What is this airnsbnb? I'll see myself out
  21. Colorado is probably just a bad team but I used to watch top 10 teams be down 2 scores early and get excited about a potential upset. Then I would turn on the game an hour later and wonder how the top 5 team was blowing the other team out. Long story short this was kind of Michigan today. Good feeling assuming they finish this off
  22. Just win 6 more regular season games guys. I don't care what you do in the other 8
  23. In the second half, Montero has caught Jake 5 times: 33.2 IP, 19 H, 8 ER, 28/9 K/BB, 2 HR Only start with more than 2 runs given up was the game at the Cell. Wow. Funny thing is that in an interview on ESPN 1000 this week jake was asked his optimal defense when pitching and he listed Contreras as catcher. Not that it means anything. I think we are looking too hard for excuses for Jake, but I will defer to the people I've quoted whose opinions I trust
  24. At least he was able to put it together long enough for an awesome memorable season
