  1. Yes, this and the "Bears fans loathe Jay Cutler" narrative drive me nuts. I know there are meatballs out there that don't like Jay, but I would say 90% of Bears fans I know either like him or at worst are 'meh' on him. I'd say 90% is way high Do we hang out in the same circle or something? lol I'm certain a complete sample of Chicagoans wouldn't be 90%, but among people I know its roughly that high. In fact I can only really think of 1 person I know that is completely negative on Cutler (other than wanting to move on from him and get our QB of the future). My point was, everytime I read a national perspective on Jay, they always mention how Bears fans as a whole cannot stand him.
  2. If I recall correctly, the hamstring/groin tear or whatever it was he suffered against Arizona (week 2 ironically) last year was supposed to keep him out 3-4 weeks, and returned after missing just one game. I doubt he plays Sunday night but after reading that, I fully expect him out there against Detroit next week. The "Jay isn't tough" narrative bothers me far more than "he sucks". At least the latter can be debated. The former should be so far out the window at this point. Dude is a tough SOB. Yes, this and the "Bears fans loathe Jay Cutler" narrative drive me nuts. 3. Jay isn't tough enough!! [/sarcasm] [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. Haha I was over at WSI for my weekly dose of schadenfreude and I came across this comment:
  5. The Fire don't even belong in the same league as the Sounders. Horribly run franchise.
  6. yes His first sack, in the 8th game of the season after signing a huge deal, which came halfway through the 4th quarter of a game the Patriots were up by over 30 points and had their backup QB in.
  7. He's currently on track to pitch the last Thursday of the season although they could easily move him up to pitch Friday against the Dodgers. Either way, he wouldn't be available to pitch in a Monday tiebreaker unless he goes Thursday and then Monday on short rest. That's the biggest worry day in terms of him getting 2 LDS starts imo.
  8. Hope he gets hot over the last 10 games and ends with something like .300/.400/.575 40 HR 110 RBI. Definitely doable although the RBI and OBP might be a stretch
  9. Good read from Heyman detailing 7 moves that made the Cubs into contenders and doing into detail on each one. For instance with drafting Bryant: http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/inside-baseball-with-jon-heyman/heyman-7-cubs-moves-turned-lovable-losers-winners/
  10. This is from the game thread and I don't want to mess with that one but I have to ask, what does this mean? People don't shoplift from Macy's? Just a throwaway line. I couldn't remember where he shoplifted from and was really hoping it was something like K-Mart but oh well.
  11. http://memecrunch.com/meme/8WCA4/we-re-going-streaking/image.png 3 in a row. Boo for off days. The Cubs begin their final home series of the regular season against a team that is desperately clinging to its playoff life. So we should probably expect the Cardinals to pull out all the stops beginning Friday when they start.....wait Mike Leake?!?! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qxOJM_uvf_U/Ta3mSa6au4I/AAAAAAAABI0/mwaZJu_mIIw/2011-special-0418.jpg Leake's shoplifting shenanigans might be forgotten by most, but not me. Who the hell shoplifts from Macy's, seriously? Anyways, the Cubs have faced Leake 3 times this year has given up a total of 11 runs in those 3 starts. The NL Central Champions will be led by Mr. Jake Arrieta, reigning Cy Young winner. And yes he is now apparently throwing his devastating slider again. So let me get this straight, there's 2 weeks until the playoffs start and Heyward and Miggy are both hitting and there's a chance we might see God Mode Jake in the playoffs? Haha good luck to the other baseball squadrons in their attempt to out-baseball the mighty Cubs. CUBS are 97-55 (.638) overall CUBS are 18-6 (.750) on Fridays CUBS are 12-8 (.600) in September CUBS are 8-8 (.500) vs. St. Louis CUBS are 44-22 (.667) vs. NL Central CUBS are 9-5 (.643) when they've won their last 3 games CUBS are 43-25 (.632) in day games CUBS are 55-23 (.705) at home CUBS are 69-38 (.645) vs right handers CUBS are 19-10 (.655) when Arrieta starts http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b137/Hornkohl/cubs-slug-cards.jpg Go CUBS !!
  12. What are Mets fans saying? And then several other posts saying "the Cubs are scared of us"
  13. If we're just talking about matching up on paper, I'd most prefer to play the Cardinals. But I can't stand the thought of losing to them, and the Mets are pretty close to the Cardinals in my mind, so I pick them. I know the Giants have a mediocre offense and have played terrible in the 2nd half, but they are the only team that has 2 pitchers that i somewhat fear (definitely Bum, slightly less Cueto) and while their park is beautiful, I don't like when the Cubs play there as I feel like we never play well, less donging opportunities in night games, and a big OF with weird crevices that slightly lessens our defensive advantage and allows for a fluke bounce to change the course of a game. They are all pretty close though. So its the Mets. They seem beatable to me, and as far as pain from losing to them, it can't be all that much worse than losing to them last year. But if they beat the Mets, I will happily peruse Mets Refugees to soak up their anguish
  14. I was looking at that. The issue is that 7 of their last 11 are against the Nationals and Cubs. The Nationals are next and even if the Cubs clinch HFA over them, they still have a magic number of 8 for clinching home field over the Dodgers in the NLDS. The Cubs will probably be coasting during their 4 game series next week but then again we certainly love swatting the Pirates away like an annoying fly.
  15. Stop pretending your dad didn't raise you to be a baseball inputing cyborg Kris
  16. That depends on how you feel about the Cardinals playing the Cubs in the NLDS. Oh he'll never mind either way it's awesome
  17. same lol No doubt. I'm just worried that Willy doesn't even make the roster. I'm still pretty confident he will but there's a non zero chance
  18. This is legit different than the previous spurts. He's hitting line drives almost every AB. If we fixed Jason HAHAHAHAHA rest of baseball Actually kind of funny. Been waiting all year for Miggy and Heyward to hit and for Jake to throw more sliders. 11 games left in the season and suddenly it's all here
  19. Team record for one opponent in one season is 37 by the 1955 Cubs against the Cardinals. Pretty sure we will break that next weekend.
  20. I can't wait until the playoffs when fans of the other team are like sweet Heywards up, easy out and then he rips an RBI double, prompting that teams sulley to say "only my teams"
  21. Ahh man Heyward another one hit on the button
  22. WGN camera guys blew that one. I was waiting to see his sad trot back out to the field.
  23. http://imoviequotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/203-Dumb-and-Dumber-quotes.gif Ha. To be fair the play didn't hurt the Cubs but it was just a terrible throw.
